Af: Die lente het met 'n sagte geel lig oor die Veldpark in Johannesburg gegroet.
En: Spring greeted die Veldpark in Johannesburg with a soft yellow light.

Af: Die lug was soet met die geur van jasmyn en die gelag van kinders het die lug gevul.
En: The air was sweet with the fragrance of jasmine, and the laughter of children filled the air.

Af: Charl het langs die wandelpad gestap, sy hond Boef aan 'n leiband.
En: Charl walked along the pathway, his dog Boef on a leash.

Af: Hy het die park se rustigheid waardeer, maar die eensaamheid was 'n konstante metgesel.
En: He appreciated the park's tranquility, but loneliness was a constant companion.

Af: Na sy egskeiding het alles net... stil geraak.
En: After his divorce, everything just... went quiet.

Af: Aan die ander kant van die park het Liezl met haar klein hondjie, Wors, oor die gras gehardloop.
En: On the other side of the park, Liezl ran across the grass with her little dog, Wors.

Af: Sy het pas na die woonbuurt verhuis op soek na inspirasie vir haar kunswerk.
En: She had just moved to the neighborhood in search of inspiration for her artwork.

Af: Die kleure van die lente het haar gees vervul.
En: The colors of spring filled her spirit.

Af: "Hier gaan ek nou regtig nuwe mense ontmoet," het sy vir haarself gesê.
En: "Here I'm really going to meet new people," she told herself.

Af: Om 'n draai het Charl en Liezl se paaie gekruis.
En: Around a corner, Charl and Liezl's paths crossed.

Af: "Ag nee, is dit Boef?" vra Liezl, met 'n groot glimlag.
En: "Oh no, is that Boef?" asked Liezl, with a big smile.

Af: "Ja, hy beskerm die park teen alle vorme van gevaarlike eekhorings," antwoord Charl, met 'n skaam glimlag.
En: "Yes, he protects the park from all sorts of dangerous squirrels," replied Charl, with a shy smile.

Af: Hulle honde het dadelik vriende geword, wat die stilte tussen Charl en Liezl verbreek het.
En: Their dogs immediately became friends, which broke the silence between Charl and Liezl.

Af: "Ek is Liezl," het sy gesê, haar hand uitgesteek.
En: "I'm Liezl," she said, extending her hand.

Af: "Charl," groet hy terug, "net 'n man met 'n hond en 'n liefde vir die park."
En: "Charl," he greeted back, "just a man with a dog and a love for the park."

Af: Oorkant die gras het Bongani die karwagtertjie gery, 'n speelgoedkarretjie in sy hande.
En: Across the grass, Bongani was riding the toy car, a little car in his hands.

Af: "Heita!" het hy geroep, nader gehardloop.
En: "Hey there!" he shouted, running closer.

Af: "Ek wil met ale se honde speel!"
En: "I want to play with everyone's dogs!"

Af: "Hy is altyd buite besig," sê Liezl terwyl Bongani albei honde begroet.
En: "He's always busy outside," said Liezl as Bongani greeted both dogs.

Af: "Dit is lekker om die jeugdige energie te sien."
En: "It's great to see youthful energy."

Af: Met die Spingsdag-fees wat aangebreek het, was die park vol lewendigheid.
En: With the Spingsdag-fees having arrived, the park was full of liveliness.

Af: Tafels is in skakerings van pastel versier en inwoners het plate vol smake en geselsies gedeel.
En: Tables were decorated in pastel shades, and residents shared plates full of flavors and chatted.
