Af: Johan voel hoe die koel herfswindjie oor sy gesig waai terwyl hy sy rugak aanhaal.
En: Johan feels the cool autumn breeze blowing across his face as he adjusts his backpack.

Af: Hy en Elmarie staan by die Voet van Tafelberg, gereed vir 'n groot avontuur.
En: He and Elmarie stand at the Foot of Table Mountain, ready for a big adventure.

Af: “Ek kan nie wag om daardie uitsig van bo af te sien nie,” sê Johan, vol entoesiasme.
En: “I can’t wait to see that view from the top,” says Johan, full of enthusiasm.

Af: Elmarie, sy lojale maar skeptiese vriend, glimlag en skud haar kop.
En: Elmarie, his loyal but skeptical friend, smiles and shakes her head.

Af: “Johan, ek hoop net jy het aan alles gedink.
En: “Johan, I just hope you’ve thought of everything.

Af: Daardie weer lyk effens onheilspellend.”
En: That weather looks slightly ominous.”

Af: Die pad op is steil, maar Johan en Elmarie is ervare stappers.
En: The path up is steep, but Johan and Elmarie are experienced hikers.

Af: Die ruwe rotsformasies en die unieke Kaapse fynbos maak die roete interessant en uitdagend.
En: The rugged rock formations and the unique Cape fynbos make the route interesting and challenging.

Af: Skielik, kom daar 'n dik mis op, bedek die berg in 'n taai wit kombers.
En: Suddenly, a thick mist rolls in, covering the mountain in a dense white blanket.

Af: Johan kyk om hom rond, knipoog vir 'n rukkie en sê: “Dit is net 'n bietjie mis, ons is reg.”
En: Johan looks around, squints for a moment, and says: “It’s just a bit of mist, we’re fine.”

Af: "Hmm, ek weet nie, Johan.
En: “Hmm, I don’t know, Johan.

Af: Ons kan amper niks sien nie," sê Elmarie, effens bekommerd.
En: We can hardly see anything,” says Elmarie, slightly worried.

Af: Maar Johan hou aan stap, sy plan in gedagte.
En: But Johan keeps walking, his plan in mind.

Af: Soos hulle verder stap, raak die pad minder duidelik.
En: As they walk further, the path becomes less clear.

Af: Hulle volg 'n draai, dan nog een.
En: They follow a turn, then another.

Af: Maar na 'n rukkie kom hulle agter hulle het in 'n sirkel gestap.
En: But after a while, they realize they have walked in a circle.

Af: "Johan!" gil Elmarie terwyl sy lag.
En: “Johan!” shouts Elmarie while she laughs.

Af: "Ons is presies waar ons begin het!"
En: “We are exactly where we started!”

Af: Johan kyk om hom rond, effens verleë.
En: Johan looks around, slightly embarrassed.

Af: Hy kan nie anders as om saam met Elmarie te lag nie.
En: He can’t help but laugh along with Elmarie.

Af: "Wel, dit is beslis nie volgens my plan nie, maar dit is nou 'n storie om te vertel."
En: “Well, this is definitely not according to my plan, but it's a story to tell now.”

Af: Elmarie raai dat hulle eers moet pauseer en kyk na die spore.
En: Elmarie suggests they should pause and look at the tracks.

Af: “Laat ons eers 'n oomblik neem om te sit en dink.
En: “Let’s take a moment to sit and think.
