Af: Die Garden Route was pragtig in April.
En: The Garden Route was beautiful in April.

Af: Die bome se blare was oranje en rooi, en die lug was koel en vars.
En: The trees' leaves were orange and red, and the air was cool and fresh.

Af: Anika stap stadig agter haar familie aan.
En: Anika walked slowly behind her family.

Af: Hulle was op 'n Paasnaweek kampuitstappie, iets wat haar ma en pa altyd geniet het.
En: They were on an Easter weekend camping trip, something her mom and dad always enjoyed.

Af: Anika, egter, het soos 'n buitestaander gevoel.
En: Anika, however, felt like an outsider.

Af: Haar pa, Johan, het ver van haar afgestap, en Elsa het vrolik saam met hom gestap, haar oë groot van nuuskierigheid oor die natuur om haar.

Af: Na 'n paar minute van stap, het Anika diep asem ingeneem.
En: After a few minutes of walking, Anika took a deep breath.

Af: Die voetpaadjie was rustig, die blare het onder haar voete gekraak.
En: The footpath was quiet, the leaves crackled under her feet.
