En: In the distance stretches the Karoo's rugged landscape, brown and gold under the bright autumn sky.

Af: 'n Groep skoolkinders stap deur die stofpaaie van die plaas, elkeen vol opgewondenheid oor die dag wat voorlê.
En: A group of schoolchildren walk through the dusty roads of the farm, each filled with excitement about the day ahead.

Af: Hein loop agter hulle, sy oë op die grond, sy gedagtes by sy familie se ou plaas.
En: Hein walks behind them, his eyes on the ground, his thoughts with his family's old farm.

Af: Hein is 'n stil seun.
En: Hein is a quiet boy.

Af: Hy hou van natuur en voel dikwels verlore tussen die stad se mure.
En: He loves nature and often feels lost within the city's walls.

Af: Die plaasbezoek is vir hom 'n kans om weer te voel hy behoort.
En: The farm visit is a chance for him to feel he belongs again.
