Story Transcript:

En: The afternoon sun shines through broken windows and makes dust particles dance in the air of the old warehouse.

En: It was quiet, only the soft creak of the rusty steel beams could be heard.

En: Riaan sits on an old wooden crate, his eyes drawn to a card in his hand.

En: The words "Happy Easter" smile at him from the simple greeting card.

Af: Dit was nie veel nie, maar sy hoop was dat dit 'n begin sou wees.
En: It wasn't much, but his hope was that it would be a beginning.

En: Riaan had long struggled with his isolation.

En: The accident years ago had forced him out of the construction industry, and the noise of jackhammers had given way to the silence he now embraced.

En: But one thing gnawed at him—the lost relationship with his sister, Elsa.

En: In his thoughts, memories of their childhood floated by, Easter eggs hidden in the garden, and the sounds of laughter.

En: He longed to share these memories with Elsa again.

En: That's why he decided to meet her in this warehouse, far from the world's oppressive hustle and bustle.

En: Just as Riaan gathered his courage to practice everything he wanted to say, Elsa burst through the door.

En: Her face was a mix of surprise and joy, but Riaan could easily see the tension behind it.

En: "Hi, Elsa," he says, trying to keep his voice steady.

En: He reaches the card out to her.

Af: Sy glimlag, haar oë blinkend.
En: She smiles, her eyes glistening.

En: Suddenly, Elsa's body jerks forward, and she anxiously starts scratching at her throat.

En: Her face quickly turns red, and Riaan's heart pounds quickly in his chest.

En: "Elsa, what's wrong?" He hooks his hands around her shoulders, panic starting to engulf him.

Af: Hy onthou hoe sy nooit teen sekere blomme bestand was nie.
En: He remembers how she was never resistant to certain...
