Story Transcript:

En: One deepening autumn day, Seojin, Hyunjin, and Minji visited Gwangjang Market.

En: The market was bustling with people preparing for their charyesang (ancestral rites table).

En: Seojin needed to prepare traditional foods for the Chuseok family gathering.

En: Seojin was diligent.

En: She wanted to present a special dish to her family.

En: However, the market was so noisy and chaotic that it was hard to concentrate.

En: Hyunjin was Seojin’s cousin.

En: He was interested in cooking but had no experience.

En: Sometimes, his enthusiasm would cause more trouble.

En: Minji was a long-time friend of the family.

En: She was wise and experienced, knowing the secrets passed down from their ancestors.

En: That day, the market was particularly crowded.

En: The produce stalls were overflowing with red and yellow autumn fruits.

En: The spicy aroma filled the spaces between the alleys.

En: Hyunjin was fascinated by unrelated things.

En: Among the people shouting and busily moving around, Hyunjin needed more focus.

En: Seojin barely managed to keep hold of him to prevent them from getting lost.

En: "Hyunjin ah, please. You need to be a bit more serious," Seojin implored.

En: Hyunjin nodded.

En: The two joined Minji to check the necessary ingredients.

En: Soon, they headed to the center of the market.

En: They wanted to buy pork and soy sauce.

En: Finally, they needed special samsam (wild ginseng).

En: However, that ingredient was already sold out.

En: Seojin was flustered.

En: She looked at Minji and asked, "What should we do, Aunt 민지?"

En: Minji smiled and said, "Don't worry. We'll find another way."

En: Then Minji found a similar root.

En: "This will be as good as samsam." Minji said confidently.

En: They returned home and began cooking.

En: Minji explained the recipe and helped Seojin and Hyunjin.

En: Hyunjin diligently kneaded the dough as Minji instructed.

En: Seojin took charge of the stir-frying.

En: As time passed, the dishes were finally completed.

En: The family gathered around the charyesang.
