Forest Therapy, Embodying Nature, and Regulating Your Nervous System With Robyn of Awaken To Nature-FYW65

More About Robyn

With a combined background of Environmental Studies, Counselling, and Somatics, this work has been a core part of my life for nearly two decades.

It all began when I experienced a profound opening to the healing and transformative power of nature connection in my early 20s.

Following a traumatic period of my life, a series of synchronistic events led me to live off-grid in the temperate rainforest of coastal British Columbia in a log cabin. For six months, I lived immersed in nature and experienced deep nervous system re-patterning and spiritual awakening

From that time on, I knew that my life's work was to dig into the wondrous healing power of nature connection, and I have studied, practiced, and taught this ever since.

I am also a mother to three girls, and have worked as an Addictions Therapist, Domestic Violence Crisis Counsellor, Forest School Instructor, and teacher of my ancestral British & Irish animist traditions.

My academic background includes Nature & Forest Therapy, Environmental Studies, Women's Studies, Herbalism, Counselling, Social Work, Somatics, Ecotherapy, and Psychology.

Most importantly, I have spent thousands of hours in direct communion with nature and wilderness in Europe and North America, which has enabled me to process trauma and reshape my life.

My most profound and heart-opening relationships have been with the rocky shores and temperate rainforest of the Pacific North West, and the mountainous, boggy Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The spirits of these landscapes continue to be my greatest mentors, and

have formed me to have affinity with mountain, island, deep forest, coastline, and sea-scapes. These experiences and education have provided me with a strong understanding of the intricate relationships between ourselves and the natural world. Embodied nature connection is extraordinarily potent, and I believe it is one of the most impactful ways for us to make meaning out of our experiences, navigate challenges, and create holistic wellness. Other essential elements of my life include being a single mother to my three incredible

daughters, an on-going inquiry into my ancestral ways of knowing (Gaelic animism), and somatic exploration of living through Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and treatment. I live alternately between the traditional unceded Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Squamish Nation territory, North Vancouver, British Columbia, and traditional Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory,

Awaken to Nature offers courses, experiential circles, and other resources on Ecosomatics and Animism (ancient British Isles traditions).

Miniature Wonders: Capturing Nature in Art with Nayan And Venus of the Paper Ark- FYW60

More About Nayan and Venus:

Their collaborative efforts combine a passion for wildlife and paper art to create intriguing miniature paper sculptures.

Currently, Nayan and Venus reside in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India) Nayan and Venus are most known for their 1000 Feather's project, a self-initiated endeavour to develop

1000 species of creatures over the period of 1000 days.

Their work is represented in numerous esteemed publications and websites and has been exhibited in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Artist's Statement

As artists deeply inspired by the wild, we create miniature paper sculptures that celebrate the breathtaking diversity of Earth's wildlife; one tiny cut at a time. Over the past eight years, we have created more than 1,500 miniature artworks, each layered with 20+ cuts of archival paper and detailed with watercolours to capture the soul of each creature.

Our art is not just about precision or beauty; it's a call to look closer. At a time when many species are disappearing faster than they're discovered, we want to hold space for their stories. From vibrant parrots to elusive amphibians, our creations aim to spark curiosity, admiration, and a deeper sense of care for the natural world.

Working from our home studio in India, we bring together the fine details of wildlife observation with a constantly evolving paper technique. Through "The Paper Ark, we hope to build a bridge between people and nature, where even the smallest artwork can carry the weight of a powerful message.

We believe that art can make you fall in love with what you may never see in person. And when you fall in love with something, you fight to protect it.

Cave Art As A Muse, Machine Free Tattooing and Experimental Archaeology with Daniel Riday-FYW56

More About Danny:

Danny works professionally as a machine-free tattoo artist. He loves this practice, because it represents the gentiler and more natural side of tattooing. The slower pace of the process of "handpoking" leaves more time for making friends and sharing stories.

His main objective regarding his work is in digging deep down to the ancient roots of the art world, and uncovering forgotten truths of our distant past.

He finds a profound sense of satistaction in helping to link his clients to some of humanity's long lost visual art forms.

Danny usually focuses on potent symbolic imagery and animal totems in; Petroglyphic style, Neolithic, Iron Age Northern European motifs. and Scythian / Siberian ‘Animal  - style'. Much of his other inspirations comes from flora, fauna and a wide scope of artistic input from his travels around the world.

Athough specialzed in certain styles, Danny is always happy to discuss projects and new ideas, and to offer free and honest tattoo advice.

Danny is also a member of a small, but dedicated team of international researchers who strive to find answers to questions in the realms of Tattoo-Archaeology & Anthropology.

Our research has already been pubilshed in: The European journal of Archaeology, Oxford University handbock or body modification, '"Exarc' research journal, Tatouage magazine, Live-science, CNN style, "Archaeology podcast network,  interviews, and more!

More About Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center:

Brevard Zoo opened its Sea Turtle Healing Center in April 2014. The facility includes two separate holding facilities with a total of 14 tanks ranging in size from six to 12 feet in diameter. This facility is not open to the public.

Because the beaches of Brevard County are among the world's most important nesting areas for sea turtles and the largest in the United States, a significant number of animals are found with injuries and illnesses each year. About 100 patients are seen at the Healing Center each year.

Patients are brought to the Healing Center for a variety of reasons-they may be recovering from a boat strike, interaction with human debris such as fishing line or plastic, or debilitation. In addition to providing much-needed rest, experienced staff and dedicated volunteers use a combination of medication, surgeries and nutrition to nurse the turtles back to health and, ideally, return them to the water. Click here to help us care for our patients by purchasing an item from our Amazon wish list!

Sea turtles are a defining part of our community, and the Sea Turtle Healing Center is integral to the rescue of these beloved animals!

The Whales Of New York, Continuing A Legacy, and Citizen Science Program with PJ of Gotham Whale -FYW52

More About PJ:

PJ Sieswerda carries forward the legacy of his father, Paul Sieswerda, with a deep, lifelong passion for the ocean. His love for marine life began in childhood, sparked by diving adventures and tropical fish-collecting trips around the world. From swimming with Great White Sharks at Guadalupe Island to exploring historical and cultural landmarks across the globe, PJ has always sought to connect people with the wonders of the natural world. As Visionary Director of Gotham Whale Inc., PJ is dedicated to bringing ocean conservation to life through powerful storytelling, immersive experiences, and artistic collaborations. He has produced inspirational events that celebrate marine conservation, including theatrical showings of Ocean Angels, a film highlighting his father's groundbreaking work. By merging art, performance, and education, PJ engages diverse audiences and motivates them to think globally, act locally, and protect our oceans. With a strong belief in the power of creativity to drive change, PJ works with artists, performers, and conservationists to inspire action in support of Gotham Whale's mission of research, education, and advocacy. His leadership brings fresh energy and bold vision to the future of Gotham Whale, ensuring its impact grows beyond the waters of the New York Bight and into the hearts and minds of people everywhere. Join PJ and the Gotham Whale team in making waves for marine conservation.

Whether through donations, sponsorships, or volunteering, you can be part of a movement that safeguards whales and their ocean home for generations to come.

More About Gotham Whale:

A fearless founder with a dream.

Since Paul Sieswerda founded Gotham Whale, it has expanded to research the whales of NJ and NY in the waters of the NY Bight. Gotham Whale maintains a database of marine mammat sightings from their observations that started aboard the American Princess, and today includes seven whale watch companies, along with many community science contributions. Gotham Whale is proud to keep The NYC Humpback Whale Catalog which identifies individual whales from photographs of their flukes. We track the species, location, and behavior to gain insight into the whales as they come closer and closer to the Big City.

Paul was a fan of and fell in love with the oceans through watching Jacques Cousteau and became a diver at a young age. Collecting data and research for aquarium exhibits, he traveled the world from the arctic, to the Caribbean to Africa - making many friends along the way. He is the accomplished author of "Stranded," a fiction novel about a whale research organization, as well as a children's book titled, "Big Whale, Big City." Today, the team at Gotham Whale carries on Paul's legacy by growing our efforts and making an impact.

Everything Has Energy, The Importance Of Embodiment, And The Fluent Body With Aliya Galim-FYW50

In this episode of the Find Your Wild podcast, Brianna Godberson interviews Aliya Galim, who shares her diverse background in corporate work, yoga, and energy modalities. They discuss the importance of embodiment, the connection between humans and animals, and how childhood experiences shape our understanding of trauma. Aliya emphasizes the need to reconnect with our primal instincts and the body's ability to communicate through sensations. The conversation also explores generational trauma, the modern perception of trauma, and the societal addiction to drama, ultimately advocating for a journey towards peace and balance. In this conversation, Aliya Galim and Brianna Godberson explore profound themes surrounding near-death experiences, the innate peace found in nature, and the healing power of horses. They discuss the importance of childlike wonder, the impact of labels on animals, and the need to redefine rescue and healing. The dialogue emphasizes the significance of self-connection in the process of healing and the unique bond between humans and horses, culminating in the idea that horses reflect our inner state and can guide us towards self-discovery.

More About Aliya:

A Woman Among Wolves; Studying and Tracking Wolves in Montana with Diane K. Boyd-FYW49

More About Diane:

World-renowned wildlife biologist Diane Boyd has spent four decades studying and advocating for wolves in the wilds of Montana near Glacier National Park. In the 1970s, she was the only female biologist in the United States researching and radio-collaring wild wolves. With her two dogs for company, she faced the rigors of the Montana winter in an isolated cabin without running water or electricity. Boyd fearlessly forded icy rivers, strapped on skis to navigate thick stands of lodgepole pine, and monitored wolf packs from the air in a tiny bush plane. She faced down grizzly bears, mountain lions, wolverines—and the occasional trapper—as she stalked her quarry: a handful of wolves making their way south from Canada into Montana. Resourceful and resilient, she matched wits with the wolves and negotiated with locals as wolf populations grew from the first natural colonizer to the thousands of wolves in the West today.

Foxes Are Not Good Pets And The Truth About Fur Farms With Nicole Navarro Of Pawsitive Beginnings- FYW48

More About Nicole:

Nicole Navarro's passion for animal welfare and rescue began at a young age, nurtured by her upbringing on a sprawling horse farm in Western Pennsylvania.

Her journey with foxes started in 2018 while volunteering at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm in Key West, Florida. It was there that she recognized the urgent need for dedicated sanctuaries capable of providing lifelong care for foxes rescued from the fur trade.

Determined to make a difference, Nicole founded Pawsitive Beginnings Inc. in March 2020, creating a safe haven where rescued foxes can heal, thrive, and inspire change.

More About Pawsitive Beginnings:

Pawsitive Beginnings provides a safe and nurturing permanent home for foxes rescued from the fur trade.

In some cases, fur farmers choose to surrender foxes deemed undesirable or "rejects" due to deformities or inadequate fur quality. These animals, often discarded by the industry, find refuge with us, where they receive the care and respect they deserve.

We collaborate with organizations in regions where fur farming is prevalent, offering placement assistance for foxes in need. When we are unable to provide direct sanctuary, we actively network with reputable rescues and sanctuaries to ensure that each fox is placed in the hands of a qualified caregiver.

Under no circumstances do we purchase foxes from fur farms, as doing so would only contribute to the continuation of this industry. Our mission is to rescue and advocate without financially supporting the practices we work to end.
