What is ambition? Ambition is the desire to do something meaningful, great, and worthwhile. But what makes something meaningful, great, and worthwhile? Is it being successful or making money? Is it having a lot of things or making progress toward your goals? These questions lead us to discover the difference between selfish ambition and godly ambition. If you want to have godly ambition, this means doing God’s will and fulfilling His purpose for your life. Selfish ambition, on the other hand, is doing something to fulfill your desires and dreams apart from God.

Demas was a trusted member of the apostle Paul’s ministry team. Paul said of him, “Epaphras, my fellow prisoner greets you, as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow laborers” (Philemon 23-24). Demas is even mentioned before Luke, author of Luke and Acts! Paul mentions him again in Col 4:14, also in a positive light.

One of the unfortunate consequences of backsliding, or of any sin we commit at any given time, is the harm we inflict on others. That’s why the concept of restitution is so important.

The definition of restitution is restoring something to the one who has lost it, helping them recover from damage we have inflicted. It’s not a new concept, so let’s take a look at the concept of restitution in the Bible.
