You tricked and treated us with questions all month long and it is time to TP your houses with answers!
Of course, we couldn't do it without all of you wonderful fans who sent in questions! Thank you to:
You are strange and off-putting here in the final chapter of Drac-tober, our month-long celebration of all things Dracula. We talked about the humble origins, but what happens when some boxes of dirt (boxes!?) make their way to Sunnydale, California? We get the answer in the Season 5 opener with "Buffy vs. Dracula" from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Joined by Buffy enthusiast and Glitterjaw podcast host Derek B. Gayle (Walloping Websnappers, Gimmicks, Falling with Style, Skreeonk!, Lee Carvallo's Podding Challenge), we look at the comparisons with the source text and film, how they work in the Buffy-verse and we even accuse each other of being under the thrall of the dark prince!
We may be finished with Dracula for now, but he always comes back.

Permit me to introduce myself - wait, what do you mean that's not in here? Drac-tober continues with the 1931 film Dracula, adapted by Garrett Fort and directed by Tod Browning. We corrupt Matthew Broderick, play with rubber bats, and play fast a loose with the source material as we jump from page to screen for this Universal Monster celebration of Bela Lugosi's take on Count Dracula.

No one sees a communion wafer coming, but you should have expected this Drac-tober continuation of the 1897 novel Dracula. This second part picks right where we left off from Chapter 13 and continues through the end of the novel.
You'll be Goop™ed!

Another October has come around for us to discuss one of the foundational icons of horror with a month-long celebration of all things Dracula! And to start this Drac-tober, we're going back to the very beginning to discuss the work of bear icon Bram Stoker with the 1897 novel Dracula. We're covering this one in two parts and this first sojourn takes us to Transylvania and through Chapter 12 of the novel.

Our misadventures with the fickle mother that is the ocean continues with our month-long celebration in nautical horror, Lost at Sea-tember! This time we've finally found solid ground with the 2019 film by Robert Eggers, The Lighthouse.
Joined by our friend Andrew Corns from The Revisionist Almanac, we obliterate seagulls, fancy some dino nuggets, and remark about Bjork somehow as we discuss the depths and ... shall we say ... lengths that make up the phallic titular lighthouse.

Haul the sails ya filthy currs as Lost at Sea-tember continues, this time solving mysteries in the 2018 puzzle game, Return of the Obra Dinn developed by Lucas Pope.
We enjoy "1-bit" graphics, are startled by maritime horrors, and spend a lot of time looking at men's feet as we find the fates of all who sailed the Obra Dinn.
Wait a second, who left all this unknown seaman all over the deck? Kraken ... clean up your mess!

Unnamed aliens are being tormented by a clown of their own making - the very representation of fear, which helps us to wrap up Auguste - our month-long celebration into clown horror. This time, the clown du jour is none other than legendary actor Michael McKean who wears the face paint and terrorizes his captives in the Star Trek Voyager episode "The Thaw."
Here's the executioner from the episode and you are welcome.

The jokes just keep on coming because it's still Auguste! This time, that means we are covering the clown prince of Gotham, the Joker, with the 1989 graphic novel, Batman: The Killing Joke, written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland.
We talk about the history of "fridging" and how this well known example might not be as exemplary of the trope as it is known for! Also: throne of babies!

Auguste continues, as we take the whole month to look at various clowns in horror! And you might not hear them coming, but it's time to talk mimes and we do so with the low-budget gore-fest from 2022, Terrifier 2, written and directed by Damien Leone.
We talk about the very nature of art - and the nature of Art the Clown - as we try to sift through (unintentional?) missteps into misogyny, what is "too much," and if queer heroism can triumph an unstoppable evil.

We are kicking off a new theme month by talking about clown horror all month long. It's Auguste! And that means it is time to head through a perfectly silly little goblin door as we talk about the 1990 television mini-series, It, directed by Tommy Lee Wallace and adapted by Lawrence D. Cohen from Stephen King’s 1986 novel.
Bring along some friends to face the horrors of a demented clown, but also capitalism and fatphobia!

We wrap up a monthlong celebration of Summer Blockbusters with the 2022 film, Nope, written and directed by Jordan Peele. We make an absolute spectacle of ourselves discussing animals, what expectations art carries with a filmmaker, and one of us makes a really hard sell to get a date with Keke Palmer.

These teens are obnoxiously heterosexual, but will some gruesome kills help us see the shining lights reflected off of Crystal Lake? Or will long sequences of making coffee and animal violence keep our heads underwater? Listen to find out!
