Up to 100 billion garments are produced by the fashion industry every year. And each year, as much as 92 million tonnes of clothing ends up in landfill. Only 20% of textiles are collected for reuse and recycling globally, and almost 60% of all clothing material is actually made of plastic. So fashion is also responsible for 1/5 of the 300 million tonnes of plastic produced each year.
