Founding Pastor Ken Werlein tells the story of Mephibosheth, the crippled grandson of King Saul (and son of Jonathan) who lived in hiding until King David sought him out—not to destroy him, but to show him kindness and restore his place at the royal table. Just as David’s mercy covered Mephibosheth’s brokenness, God’s grace covers our sin and restores our dignity, not because we earn it, but because He loves us. We are being invited to stop hiding, receive God’s grace, and take our seat at His table—where everyone, in their brokenness, is welcome.

Like David in Psalm 51, when we acknowledge our brokenness, we open the door for God’s mercy and transformation. In the end, confession isn’t about shame; it’s about restoration and renewal in God’s grace.

No matter how hard we try to contain it, sin contaminates everything.  Through suffering, God can bring life—even out of dead places, because none of us are beyond the reach of our sovereign King’s forgiveness.

Like David, when temptation creeps in, and the small compromises we make are left unchecked, they will turn into big disasters. Thanks be to God their story became a reminder to all of us that God can work all things together for the good of those who love Him and that no sin is too great for God's grace.
