In this transformative episode, we dive deep into why your unique talents are meant to be shared with the world. Whether you're battling imposter syndrome or simply haven't recognized your gifts yet, this episode provides both the research and practical steps needed to make your impact.
Throughout this powerful discussion, we explore how personal growth often reveals unexpected talents - from writing and speaking to teaching and leadership. Drawing from compelling research, including Gallup's finding that people are six times more likely to be engaged at work when using their strengths daily, we make the case for why unleashing your talents isn't just personally fulfilling - it's crucial for professional success.
The episode breaks down three key elements of talent utilization: recognition, purpose, and overcoming fear. We examine fascinating studies, including Deloitte's research showing 90% of people perform better when playing to their strengths, and Harvard Business Review's finding that purpose-driven employees are 47% more likely to promote their organization.
Through personal stories and scientific insights, we address common obstacles like imposter syndrome (which affects 70% of professionals) and the fear of putting ourselves out there. The discussion is enriched with research from the University of California about how sharing our skills triggers the same pleasure centers as food and money, proving we're literally wired for contribution.
Key takeaways include practical action steps: identifying three underutilized talents, sharing one talent in a small way this week, and documenting the impact. The episode concludes with an inspiring call to action, reminding listeners that their unique combination of experiences and abilities creates something entirely unique - backed by McKinsey's research showing diverse perspectives lead to 35% better business results.

Being an athlete transitioning out of your sport can be extremely difficult. This past weekend I had the pleasure of sitting down with Taj Dashaun to speak about the realistic journey of life after sports. Even if you didn't play a sport in college or professionally there are plenty of amazing gems for you to pick up from this episode.
Taj Dashaun is an Author, Speaker, and Athlete Transition Coach. When his football career ended, Taj struggled heavily with depression. Because he was so focused on the game, he never fully developed a clear vision for his life. After several years of stumbling around in the emotional darkness of uncertainty, Taj began to take his eyes off of himself and focus on serving others. He now runs holistic programs for retired athletes who, like he once was, are struggling to adapt to life after the game. Not only does Taj help former players land jobs and start businesses, he helps them find fulfillment in every area of their lives. It's become his personal mission and passion to reach out and help others overcome the fear, frustration and uncertainty associated with life post-athletics. Taj is also the host of the Thrive After Sports podcast, which is available on all podcast platforms.
