Being Filipinx Enough with Alex Grubbs

This week I was super excited to meet one of my Clubhouse friends in real life, Alex Grubbs. Alex and I have been in conversations with each other in the on Clubhouse about being half Filipino and what our experiences have been like. It was so refreshing to speak with on things that I felt were so exclusively only my own experience. We talked about Alex's upbringing in a mixed family in Pittsburg and how it affected how it view himself. We had lots of laughs about the common misconceptions and stereotypes. We talked about how it was like trying into fit into Filipino spaces while only being half. It was so beautiful to talk about how we are actively healing our identity to understand that we are whole and enough as we are.
