Engaging Process: Where Art Education and Art Making Meet
Cam McComb, Ph.D.
4 episodes
I created this podcast/video series because I want people to know that the creative process is open to everyone. In this series I talk one-on-one with professional artists to gain insight into the thinking, planning, experimentation, and research that becomes part of their artistic practice. Having worked as an art educator for over 30 years, I have seen too many people get discouraged and stop making art because they didn't think their work was good enough. My hope is that you will listen to these conversations and become as inspired, as I have been, to keep putting your ideas out into the world. Episodes feature artists working with a variety of material such as painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, and digital media. Plan to listen in the car, on a walk, or while doodling in your journal. Plan to take time… time to learn about artist motivations, inspirations, active research, and working processes. Finally, each episode ends with the artist sharing five tips for listeners to consider applying to their own art making practices. If you are a young person wanting to know more about being an artist, an art teacher looking for a resource to use in your classroom, or a person who loves to create, then this podcast is for you. I hope you enjoy listening and that you find something in each episode that translates into your own art making practice.
