Ep4 (Part 2) - Jillian Oliver: Can I give you a hand?

This is part 1 of a 2-part conversation.

Episode 3

Jillian Oliver shares her background growing up and her involvement in sports, music, and community activities. She talks about her experience in the State Emergency Service and her passion for serving the community. Jillian then discusses her decision to join the police force and her time stationed at Bankstown, where she dealt with a high crime rate. She also shares her experience of the accident that led to the amputation of her arm and the challenges she faced with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Jillian talks about her mental health struggles and the difficulties she encountered with insurance companies. Jillian shares her experiences of adapting to life with a disability and finding ways to overcome challenges. She discusses the difficulties she faced with everyday tasks and the lack of support she received. However, she also highlights the importance of finding positives and maintaining a determined and independent mindset.

Episode 4

Jillian talks about how art and art therapy have played a significant role in her healing journey, allowing her to express herself and find solace. She also emphasizes the value of community and connection in supporting mental health and well-being.
