Ep11: Denby Eardley - Beat to Breath: A Journey from Police Officer to Yoga Teacher.

Denby Eardley is a medically retired NSW police officer who has developed a love for yoga. She now shares that passion and knowledge with first responders. Join Sarah as she chats with Denby about life in the police as a young female Constable in the 80's, through to her PTSD diagnosis and discovery of yoga.

A message from Denby: I created Just You Yoga as the name because my aim is to help people come back to themselves - to being ‘just you’ - To help people  peel back all the identities we have created for ourselves - to learn to find our true selves and in turn by doing that, to enable them to identify the person from the persona.  I think that’s important. The logo is of a blue lotus because the lotus flower has a strong link to rebirthing. It grows through murky waters and emerges as clean and pure. The blue lotus depicts wisdom and knowledge - it never fully opens as it always continuing to learn and grow. The ‘om’ symbol is just that - the sound of the universe that unites us as one and when chanted can impact a persons physical, mental and emotional state. I love all of this Having said all that, it does and can sound a bit ‘woo woo’ for some, but I do teach my NeuroFit Wellness program in a more tactical way - one that resonates moreso with First Responders. The ‘woo woo’ only comes out when they become emerged in what I’m teaching, the  breathwork and the movement which then allows them to connect those two things to the mind… bringing the three things that usually disassociate during times of stress, anxiety and the ptsd. I did my Yoga Teacher Training and all my other courses that followed to help me teach other First Responders to regulate their nervous systems- something we aren’t taught. Once you know how to do that, you can learn to control your stress and your mind. It helped me so much and I truely want to help others feel like I do when I do yoga, or movement with the breath. I don’t want anyone feeling like I did when I left the cops.  It really does work.

My instagram and FB pages Just You Yoga has links to contacting me, my website and my NeuroFit Wellness course. Happy to chat with anyone who feels that they need this. ‘You find Yoga when you are ready.’

I’ll leave that here.

Namaste
