Elevate City Church
In Atlanta as it is in Heaven - Jesus Over Everything - Joey McLaughlin

Our church is the kind of community whose aim is to see it in Atlanta as it is in Heaven.

So what does that mean? How? How are we going to get heaven here and now?

Ipon a thorough examination of the scriptures, that ideology does not seem to be the main message of Jesus. It does not seem to be the vision of the Bible.

More than Jesus wants to get us to heaven He wants to get heaven into us.

God wants to re-colonize Earth. He wants to reclaim Earth, redeem Earth, renew Earth, restore Earth with the kingdom of Heaven. What Jesus talked about most, what he talked about more than anything else, more than he talked about salvation, He talked about this thing called the kingdom of heaven or the kingdom of God.

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Discipleship - Jesus Over Everything - Joey McLaughlin

For most people in Christian circles, "discipleship" becomes a junk drawer word that is used to describe almost anything that happens in the Christian life, or going deeper in Christian education, or just doing life together.

So what really is discipleship? What does it mean to be a disciple, who makes disciples?

"What I want to show you today that will hopefully blow up all of your modern, conventional understandings of discipleship and put discipleship right back where Jesus put it -- which is in the hands of everyday people."

Pastor Joey McLaughlin

[17] From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

[18] While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. [19] And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” [20] Immediately they left their nets and followed him. [21] And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. [22] Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Matthew 4:17–22 (ESV)

The Great Commission

[16] Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. [17] And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. [18] And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16–20 (ESV)

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On The Bible - Jesus Over Everything - Joey McLaughlin

We are people of the Book.

Our understanding of God, life, sex, truth, family, philosophy, politics, marriage, and humanity is not shaped primarily by experience, tradition, popular opinion, culture, or what we're comfortable with.

Our understanding of God is shaped first and foremost by the word of God. It is our first source, final authority, the greatest love story ever written, and we really believe it's true.

We are people of a book not just because of the evidence and reliability of the scriptures, the reason that we are people of a book, ultimately, is because Jesus was a person of the book.

Some people today invent this form of Christianity where they're really into Jesus, but not so into the Bible. "I love Jesus, I love self-help Jesus, I love justice Jesus, I love humanitarian Jesus, I love empowering Jesus, I love forgiving Jesus. I love hippie Jesus, but not really into the Bible." This is a big problem because Jesus was all about the Bible!

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased,” 18 we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. 19 And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:16-21

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Knowing Jesus - Jesus Over Everything - Joey McLaughlin

I wonder what's your definition for eternal life? How would you define it? What is it?

This is a question that is fascinated and captivated human since the very beginning of time.

Jesus defines eternal life in John 17:3, "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."

Eternal life is not just a destination, it starts with an introduction -- When you come to know the one true God and Jesus Christ, whom he sent. Eternal life is so much more than many of our 21st century abstractions and conceptions have made it out to be. You see, we've even turned eternal life into a prayer that we pray so that we can go to heaven when we die.

Jesus flips the script and defines that eternal life is available now. Eternal life is available today. Eternal life is available in the present. The life of the age to come is available right here and now. You see, so many of us were sold a bill of goods that were Christianity was designed to do was it was designed to rescue you so that you didn't have to go to this place called hell when you died.

This means that the first and foremost and primary pursuit of any church, and every person and every pastor and every sermon should be for you to know the only true God.

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On The Book Of Acts - The Unstoppable Revolution - Joey McLaughlin

Contrary to most people's popular opinion, Jesus didn't come to just get you into heaven when you die, Jesus came to get heaven into you.

You see, the book of Acts begins with Jesus -- the suffering servant, now the resurrected King of the universe -- speaking about the Kingdom of God. He is there first, being the first witness to bear witness by showing his proof and his nail scarred hands, and talking about the Kingdom of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and acts ends with prisoner Paul now doing the same thing that Jesus did in the beginning, bearing witness to Jesus and speaking about the kingdom of God with all boldness, which we know comes through the power of the Holy Spirit.

30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!

Acts 28:30-31

Elevate City Church
Turn The World Upside Down -- The Unstoppable Revolution -- Joey McLaughlin

How do we turn the world upside down?

Jesus is the only answer!

We do no one a favor by giving people a fuzzy gospel.

We do no one a favor by disguising the gospel by giving people niceties that distract.

The goal is that we would be conformed into the image of Jesus!

We preach this on repeat not because we have nothing else to say, but because the gospel is the point.

The gospel draws the line in the sand. For Paul in Acts 17 He demonstrates how the power of the gospel is the power to turn the world upside down.

The question for us — what are we willing to sacrifice and lay down in our life to see the world turned upside down?

Any place where the gospel is preached without disruption is a place where the gospel is not preached.

When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. 2 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said. 4 Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.

5 But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason’s house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd. 6 But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some other believers before the city officials, shouting: “These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here, 7 and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.”

Acts 17:1-7

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On The Church - The Unstoppable Revolution - Joey McLaughlin

If everyone in our church, churched like you, what kind of church would our church be?

If everyone served like you, if everyone invited like you, if everyone shared the gospel like you, if everyone cared about the nations and the Muslim world like you, if everyone prayed like you pray, if everyone gave financially like you give -- Would the Church multiply?

If God's own people don't take his greatness and grandeur and glory seriously, will the world?

What might be the biggest problem in the world today, If there is anything missing in the church today, it's the fear of the Lord.

For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus. 20 And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.” 21 And all who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?” 22 But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ.

Saul Escapes from Damascus

23 When many days had passed, the Jews plotted to kill him, 24 but their plot became known to Saul. They were watching the gates day and night in order to kill him, 25 but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.

Saul in Jerusalem

26 And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join the disciples. And they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus. 28 So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists. But they were seeking to kill him. 30 And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.

31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.

Acts 9:19-31

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Baptism & Evangelism - Unstoppable Revolution - Joey McLaughlin

Evangelize is a big word. We call ourselves evangelicals in the Christian faith, but only three times does it occur on the pages of Scripture. Interestingly, Philip is the only person, the one and only person, who gets the unique designation of evangelist.

Philip, because of his willingness to the spirit, because of his boldness for the gospel, because of his love for people, he is used by God for one of the most significant moments in the entire Bible.

Some churches are known for their songs and their worship band, some churches are known for their pastors and their preaching, and some are known for their strategy and their branding.

What if we, as Elevate City Church, were known as the people who just couldn't stop talking about Jesus?

Some of us need to follow in the footsteps of Philip and be bold, while others of us need to receive the gospel and be baptized!

26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south[d] to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship 28 and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” 30 So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this:

“Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter

and like a lamb before its shearer is silent,

so he opens not his mouth.

33 In his humiliation justice was denied him.

Who can describe his generation?

For his life is taken away from the earth.”

34 And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. 36 And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the gospel to all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

Acts 8:26-40

Elevate City Church
A Sermon on The Unstoppable Revolution - Thomas Cheeseman

What marked some of the greatest movements of the early Church?

It was normal, everyday, ordinary people who position their lives and say, "here I am, my yes is on the table. I want to be a part of the revolution. I want to be a part of the story that God is writing."

In this Sermon Pastor Thomas studies what marked 3 of the greatest christian movements in history. How all three movements were marked by just one person saying "Here I am Lord, Come Holy Spirit."

Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. 2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.

Stephen Is Seized

8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen. 10 But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. 11 Then they secretly instigated men who said, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council, 13 and they set up false witnesses who said, “This man never ceases to speak words against this holy place and the law, 14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.” 15 And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

Acts 6:1-15

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Discipleship - Unstoppable Revolution - Mattias Demaerel

What makes a multiplicative movement?

We can't start a church and play church because in one generation's time, this thing is going to die out.

Most Christians or most people, they don't see like Jesus. His kingdom is the answer to all your questions, all your needs, all your hopes, and everything that you long for.

4 Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. 2 And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: 3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. 5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. 6 And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. 8 And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” 9 And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

The Purpose of the Parables

10 And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables. 11 And he said to them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, 12 so that “‘they may indeed see but not perceive,

and may indeed hear but not understand,

lest they should turn and be forgiven.’”

13 And he said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?

Mark 4:1-13

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Ananias and Sapphira - Joey McLaughlin - Unstoppable Revolution

Instead of asking, why did they experience the consequences of God so fast, maybe we should ask, why do we experience the consequences of God so slow?

One of the greatest threats, if not the greatest threat to the Church in this generation is not open rebellion, It is quiet deception.

As you study outsiders looking in on the movement of Jesus, you notice that one of the primary things that always rises to the surface for why new people don't want to join the community of faith is this word called hypocrisy.

This incident isn't about financial discrepancy, it's about maintaining the integrity of the spirit-filled community at its very foundation.

Do you know what acts chapter five is primarily about? It's about authenticity. It's about God's passion for a real, honest, generous Church.

Ananias and Sapphira

5 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, 2 and with his wife's knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.” 5 When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it. 6 The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.

7 After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you[a] sold the land for so much.” And she said, “Yes, for so much.” 9 But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.

Acts 4:32-5:11

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Boldness - Unstoppable Revolution - Joey McLaughlin

How does the gospel start to cause ruckus and riots in cities? How does it start to frustrate and confound religious leaders? What happened in Jerusalem that didn't stay in Jerusalem? What caused early Christianity to become a movement? It's really one word. It's one word that you start to see these Christians be marked by.This word is the thing that causes Christianity to make it out of the first century. It's what causes Christianity to make it out of the Roman Empire. It's the reason that Christianity has marched across seas, and it's traversed oceans. Do you know what the early church prayed for? More than they prayed for anything else? They prayed for one word more than they prayed for healing. More than they prayed for miracles. More than they prayed for Jesus to come back, more than they prayed for comfort. They prayed for BOLDNESS! In this sermon, Do you think Church is fundamentally a place to do Bible study about what people used to experience a long time ago, or do you think Church is an invitation for the things that happened a long time ago in the Bible, to be experienced again, today? The Power Of The Holy Spirit - Unstoppable Revolution - Joey McLaughlin

If you consider for a second about every time the world has ever changed, every revolution that has ever turned the world upside down, it's always been fueled by some sort of power.

If we're going to see an unstoppable revolution of the Christian Faith and the Church, then what we have to do cannot be done by us. We cannot organize into it happening. We cannot conjure it up. We must get desperate for the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit to do for us what we can never do for ourselves.

Just imagine God's presence doing this for you: going from distant to close, from understood to experience, from something you heard about to something you witnessed, from something that's like way up there, somewhere in the stratosphere, in the sky to something that's right here in my midst, from something reserved for priests and prophets to something available for all people.

Elevate City Church
The Unstoppable Revolution - X Multiply - Joey McLaughlin

Do you think church is fundamentally a place to do Bible study about what people used to experience a long time ago, or do you think that church is an invitation for the things that happened a long time ago in the Bible to be experienced again today?

What would it look like to truly know...

To you know who you're singing to? To know what God's capable of? To know what has been purchased? To know the power of the blood? To know the beauty of Jesus?

How did the church become an unstoppable revolution that turned the world upside down? How did this ragtag group of unemployed fishermen and zealots and zealots and tax collectors from backwoods Galilee -- most of whom who had never traveled 50 miles away from where they were born -- How did they change the world?

During this series we will take an in depth study of the book of Acts, and how the early Church turned the world upside down.

1 In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

4 And while staying[a] with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The Ascension

6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” 9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Acts 1:1-11

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Forgiveness - How To - Joey McLaughlin

The question of how to forgive someone -- is not a question of many times, what happens if they do it again, or the logic of forgiveness.

The question of how to truly forgive someone is a question of love. What Jesus uses is love. Jesus chooses to forgive because He knows that he who forgives little, loves little, but he who forgives much, loves much.

Is love in you and running through you, as your identity in Christ? Oftentimes why we never move towards forgiveness is because we never understand the source of forgiveness as love.

What would happen if this is the kind of community that we were, the kind of community who are default position in our highest understanding of the kingdom and the ethics of the kingdom, were forgiveness. This is this is the Jesus pattern.

We forgive until they are actually forgiven.

23 “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ 27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ 30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. 32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ 34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”Matthew 18:23-35

Elevate City Church
A Sermon On Pride - How To - Joey McLaughlin

God hates pride.

According to the biblical narrative, if you're looking for the answer for how to get yourself kicked out of heaven -- pride is place to start.

The the birth of sin in the universe starts with pride. Pride is the blueprint of hell's rebellion.

The culture that we live in today will use your pride and your selfish ambition to find yourself at the gates of hell. Our culture today loves to tell you that the way that you can get the most satisfaction and happiness out of this life is to make your life about you, to put you at the center.

The greatest rival to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is me, myself, and I.

Pride is the downfall of everything.

In the sermon, catch a glimpse into what is happening beneath the surface of pride, and how to find freedom and redemption into looking at the greatness of King Jesus.

1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

How to Serve the Church - How To - Joe Baker

In the Church, We are not spiritual consumers. We are Kingdom contributors. You may not feel it. You may not see it. But God has put something unique inside of you: it’s a spiritual gift, a divine deposit. And this gift you did not earn, but you have received thru faith in Jesus. We pray that you would see that you were created for more than just yourself and that there is no greater place on the planet to invest your time and money and heart into than the local Church of Jesus. Your gift is not merely a trophy to be put on a shelf or to be displayed to simply show how gifted you are—it’s a tool for deployment and development to the building up of the body of Christ.10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. How To Deal With Daddy Issues - How To - Joey McLaughlin

Have you considered that the fact that everything that Jesus did in his life was shaped by what Jesus saw from his father? What Jesus said, taught, and did was shaped by what he saw and heard and received from his father. If that is true for the God-Man Jesus, I wonder then how much more it's true for you and me?How aware you are of the reason that you likely do what you do, say what you say, think how you think, how you are in parenting and parenthood, is likely because you saw your father do it.In this message, Pastor Joey invites you to see how you are shaped by the things you saw or didn't see in your Father, and how Jesus was shaped by the things He saw from His father. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
