What is water baptism?

What is water baptism for? References Acts 2:41 & 8:34-36 water baptism= visible transaction to show spiritual transaction that already happened at salvation Matt 28:18-20 Baptism is an ordinance Does Peter say water baptism is needed for salvation in Acts 2:38? References a) the word “eis”can mean “for” or “because of" b) ACts 2:41 Gospel received before baptism c) Acts 2:44 “all” meant early church who believed, not baptized folks only d) Acts 10:47 Gentile believers received HS before baptism e) ICor 1:17 Paul separates baptism/Gospel Rom 1:16 the Gospel saves f) Matt 3:15 Jesus calls Hs baptism a “ work of righteousness” and Titus 3:5 says HIs mercy saves NOT works of righteousness g) Mark 16:16 and John 3:18 Salvation or condemnation is determined by belief, NOT baptism.
