Walk Worthy - Colossians 1:1-14

Im sharing things I learned through a deep dive of this book. Read the portion before or after listening to this. Most scholars believe Colossians was written by Paul in prison. He wrote to the early church of Colosse and a big focus of the book is the preeminence of Christ and the importance of Him in life. The following are a set of summarized points I talk through:

a) Our hope is in Christ.

b) I must bear fruit to show myself worthy of His sacrifice.

c) Good works do not get you into Heaven, but they do please God when done for the right reasons.

d) Knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are not synonyms and neither are God's will, your purpose, and your success.

e) Patience is not just waiting; it is enduring while we abide under and obey what we have been told to do in the season we are in. It's not patience if you are not being obedient.

f) Long-suffering is similar to patience but distinct from it in that it involves self-restraint while provoked amidst the enduring.

g) Joy (not happiness) is a fruit of the HS based on the person of JC and the understanding that He is good, trustworthy, and in control while we endure through. It is not circumstantial.
