In English we sometimes use one word to cover many different things. It’s helpful to know what root word implication is used to better grasp the message of a verse. Today, we explore the words “confess” and “repent”. I used the Vine’s Expository Dictionary and the Blue Letter Bible online. You can verify all this on either tool. II Cor. 9:13 | I Tim. 6:12-13 use the word profess for the root word “homólogia” which is confession. Heb. 7:21 | II Cor. 7:8 uses the word “metamelomai” as regret when translated to repent. In Acts 1:16-25 you can read the specific description of Judas if interested.
