He will also be familiar to many for his TV work such such Fool Me Once (2024) and Sherwood (2022).

It's time to celebrate two legends.
As Michael (our lovely co-host and producer) celebrates his birthday, he wanted to focus an episode on one his absolute favourite actors... Kristin Scott Thomas!
Kristin is our second official 'Dame' for the podcast but somehow she never seems to get the appreciation of her contemporaries. Not here! This week we were delighted to take on another audience suggestion to dive into the film career of Lizzy Caplan.
On the big screen Lizzy will be known to many for her iconic turn as Janice Ian in Mean Girls (Mark Waters, 2004), where her quote-a-long line readings and frenetic energy began her rise to stardom. From there she would continue to deliver committed big screen work in the likes of Cloverfield (Matt Reeves, 2008), Hot Tub Time Machine (Steve Pink, 2010), Bachelorette (Leslye Headland, 2012), The Interview (Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen, 2014), Now You See Me 2 (Jon M. Chu, 2016) and Cobweb (Samuel Bodin, 2023).

Our host Scott has been eager to focus on Eva's career since the start of the podcast and FINALLY here we are... And what an interesting filmography to reflect on!
There's her roles alongside questionable cops in Training Day (Antoine Fuqua, 2001), The Other Guys (Adam McKay, 2010) and Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans (Werner Herzog, 2009) AND questionable fellas in Hitch (Andy Tennant, 2005), The Place Beyond The Pines (Derek Cianfrance, 2012), Holy Motors (Leos Carax, 2012) and Ghost Rider (Mark Steven Johnson, 2007). AND then there's quesitonable ladies in The Women (Diane English, 2008).
So she may have been somewhat pigeonholed but there is something undeniable about Eva on the big screen.

Harvey Fierstein!! A name (and a voice) that will conjure up great feelings of affection to those familiar with him.
He is a monumental figure in theatre - with a plethora of awards to back it up - and he helped pave the way for queer representation in Hollywood, but where are the film roles??
He will be known to most for his memorable turns as Frank, the make-up artist who turns his brother into the infamous Scottish nanny in Mrs. Doubtfire (Chris Columbus, 1993) or perhaps as Marty, the frantic cable company manager in Independence Day (Roland Emmerich, 1996). But it is Harvey's work in Torch Song Trilogy (Paul Boggart, 1988) that provides his crowning film achievement and gives him a rare leading role.

That question led to this episode where we reflect on a truly independent filmmaker who has worked with many recognisable faces (such as Pierce Brosnan, John Lithgow, Rachel McAdams and Ben Whishaw) yet has never quite had his moment in the limelight himself.
Ira has carved out his own brand of storytelling with films such as Married Life (2007), Keep the Lights On (2012), Love Is Strange (2014) and Passages (2023). It's a fascinating filmography and we can't wait for more.

We loved talking about these films alongside Ladies In Lavender (Charles Dance, 2004) and Little Dorrit (Christine Edzard, 1987). It was a pleasure to reflect on this fun collection of film goodies and what makes Miriam so endlessly watchable. We also think about some roles we’d love to see her tackle in the future.
