Today, Ryan’s an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, a mental health professional focusing on anxiety and sobriety. He’s also a published author with a new book out now titled Harder to Breathe: A Memoir of Making Maroon 5, Losing It All, and Finding Recovery. Ken Casey (Dropkick Murphys)
Amy Wright connects on a call with Dropkick Murphys founder Ken Casey to learn about their new album, released September 30th via the band’s label Dummy Luck Music, This Machine Still Kills Fascists, in which they bring Woody Guthrie's lyrics to life. This album is like nothing they’ve done before, and in 10 songs, they've harnessed all of their energy to show how powerful an acoustic album can be. Ken shares all about the making of the album, how it was inspired by Woody Guthrie's daughter Nora, and how the idea had been percolating for more than a decade as Nora curated a collection of her father's never-published lyrics. Ken’s an engaging speaker and we’re thrilled to have him on the line. Part of Pantheon Podcasts    Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Charlie Musselwhite
Amy Wright catches up with veteran bluesman and endearing artist Charlie Musselwhite. A Mississippi native born in the 40s, he came of age in Memphis, TN, right as rock and roll was clawing its way into existence and latching onto the hearts of young teenagers around the country, but it was the blues of Chicago that called Charlie’s name.  On today’s show, Charlie and Amy look at the achievements and legacy that he’s built over the last 60 plus years, including his latest album for Alligator Records, Mississippi Son, released in June of this year. The Grammy Award-winning music legend has released nearly 40 albums and is renowned worldwide as a master harmonica player, a seasoned, truth telling vocalist and an original songwriter rooted deep within the blues tradition. Pixies
Amy Wright conversates with David Lovering, Paz Lenchantin, and Joey Santiago of the iconic band the Pixies, a group that's influenced more bands and fans than most groups in the alt-rock world can claim.  They just released their 8th studio album, Doggerel, on September 30th via BMG. The band sees this album as a reflection of growth, a mature collection of songs that's bolder than anything they've done before. We dig into the making of the album in this conversation and what it was like reinvigorating their creative process after the pandemic. Part of Pantheon Podcasts    Learn more about your ad choices. Rhett Miller
Our guest this hour is acclaimed singer-songwriter and Old 97's bandleader Rhett Miller, who's here to discuss his latest solo album The Misfits. This is the Texas-bred singer-songwriter’s 9th album, and it’s another clear indication of his strong ability to craft earworms that go deeper than your average pop song.  Miller collaborated on the album with Sam Cohen, known as a producer for works by Kevin Morby, Danger Mouse and many more. S.G. Goodman
Today, you’ll get to sit in on Amy Wright’s recent conversation with Kentucky native and acclaimed singer-songwriter, S.G. Goodman. Goodman’s new album Teeth Marks was released in June of this year via verve Forecast, and it sees the artist exploring the traumas of unrequited love, and her experiences as a queer woman coming up in rural Kentucky as part of a strict churchgoing family. Goodman’s critically acclaimed, Jim James-produced debut album Old Time Feeling put her on the map, and Teeth Marks pushes her even further out there, establishing her as one of the most compelling artists around today. Yola
Today we have the pleasure of presenting a conversation between Amy Wright and Yola, the six-time Grammy nominee who recently made her acting debut in the Baz Luhrmann-directed hit movie, Elvis, in which Yola powerfully portrays Sister Rosetta Tharpe, an elder of gospel music and arguably the true originator of rock and roll. While she’s been a singer since four years old, inspired by greats like Tina Turner and Mary J. Blige, this is Yola’s first acting role, and what an incredible opportunity it was, to be able to bring inspiration to a new generation of young black girls, to encourage them to pick up a guitar and go after their dreams.  Part of Pantheon Podcasts    Learn more about your ad choices.
