Ari Aster on Eddington, Tech-Paranoia, and Filming in New Mexico

Ari Aster is back—and this time, he’s brought the paranoia home.

In his latest film Eddington, Aster trades Swedish forests and haunted attics for dusty New Mexico landscapes and pandemic-era breakdowns. Set in a fictional town unraveling under misinformation and digital overload, Eddington is a slow-burn thriller with massive emotional weight.

I had the chance to interview Ari for Directors Cut Radio while visiting the real-world filming location: Truth or Consequences, NM. We talked about:

* Why he chose to set Eddington in his home state

* How "Screens: The Movie" became the unofficial production nickname

* What phones, AI, and digital isolation reveal about us

* The layered trauma and belief systems fueling each character

* And what it’s like to tell stories about people who can no longer hear each other

I may have started the interview by telling him I “hate” him—because the film stressed me out in all the best ways.

Ari Aster continues to be one of the most thoughtful, unnerving storytellers working today—and this time, he’s got New Mexico stitched into every frame.

🎙️ The Accountant 2 & Daniella Pineda’s Killer Calm | Directors Cut Radio

What do you get when you mix Muay Thai, murder boards, and a leather-jacketed assassin with zero fear? The Accountant 2, apparently—and actress Daniella Pineda is right in the middle of it.

In this episode of Directors Cut Radio, Daniella joins us to talk about her role as the enigmatic and cool-as-ice “Nice” in the high-octane sequel. You’ve seen her in Cowboy Bebop, Jurassic World, and The Detour, but this time she’s trading in laughs and chaos for deadly precision, emotional restraint, and some seriously intense fight choreography.
