The Witch (2015) | Sexy Snapchats From Witches

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decide to live deliciously while wrapping up Spooky Sleazon with a modern horror classic, 'The Witch.' After tending to his chores, Bombay opens up the episode by telling a story when he received a slew of sultry snaps from a girl who practices Wicca and it somehow ended horribly. Then the boys jump into the movie that went on to define A24 horror — back when that meant something — and discuss the epitome of a slow burn horror done right. There's talk of Robert Eggers' impressive craft and attention to detail that makes him an occult Wes Anderson, for a movie that would seem a slog but breezes by and culminates in a bonkers third act. Of course the fellas have to give some love to Anya Taylor-Joy's breakout performance, and Ralph Ineson's haunting voice. Don't worry, they also spend sufficient time praising the GOAT goat performance from Black Phillip, and bemoan the fact he wasn't given zany 'Leprechaun'-esque zany sequels.

Weapons (2025) | Dealing with an AIDS Scare

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay continue Spooky Sleazon by talking about one of the most popular horror movies in recent years, 'Weapons.' Andy starts off the episode by talking about the cop character who has an AIDS scare after getting pricked with a needle, and how it reminded him of a scare of his own. Then the fellas set their clocks to 2:17 to discuss a genre flick with great production value, and almost uniformly wonderful performances that ultimately left the Degens feeling cold. They gripe about how long this horror film takes to heat up (nearly an hour and a half) and how the lunacy in the last 30 minutes doesn't make up for it. The boys then do their best to pitch how they would've tweaked the story structure, all while sharing crazy stories from their past, and intense horror movie upbringings. This episode is about as bonkers as Aunt Gladys' makeup techniques.

Evil Dead II (1987) | Chainsaw Fights with Friends is Dangerous

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay get groovy baby, during Spooky Sleazon as they discuss the indescribable classic, 'Evil Dead II.' Andy kicks it off telling a story about the time he and friends tried to channel their own Ash-like maybe by having chainsaw battles, and it turned out about as well as reading a passage from the Necronomicon. Then the fellas make an argument for this being possibly the greatest film of all-time as it starts as a one man show that blends live action Looney Tunes-style comedy with truly unsettling moments. Body parts get severed, blood pours from every conceivable opening, and it's all held together by the undeniable charisma — and classic Hollywood good looks — of Bruce Campbell. The 'Evil Dead' franchise not only reshaped horror, but the reverberations of its impact changed comic book movies forever as director Sam Raimi would later be given the keys to one of the biggest franchises of all-time. Check out the ep, and you'll be having a burning in helluva good time.

Hellraiser (1987) | Forever Warping Your Mind as a Kid

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay ask, 'What's your pleasure, sir' before discussing a movie that is a fulcrum in the Degen Cinema canon, 'Hellraiser.' Bombay starts it off by recalling when he first opened up the box to cheating in his youth, and how it involved a summer of watching this on repeat as a teen. Then the boys talk about a movie that was a mind boggling intro into incredible gnarly practical FX, and BDSM, which led to their minds being forever warped at far too young ages. It was difficult to grasp Uncle Frank being so good in bed that it transcended reality and transfixed Julia, who gladly humped a reanimated corpse. Packed with salaciously disturbing imagery, and jaw dropping gore this horror masterpiece is from another era when folks actually flocked to the multiplex to watch this filth. The incredible FX and creature design helped make Pinhead a pop culture icon, and the movie goes into bizarro overdrive once he and the Cenobites truly make their presence felt. It may be filled with some stilted performances, and a perplexing UK-based '80s New York setting, but that strangeness only adds to how disorientingly deranged this masterpiece is. Make sure you listen to the full episode, as "We have such sights to show you."

Final Destination (2000) | Joking About Dying in High School

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay just got off a plane because they had a scary premonition, and then decided to talk about the first installment in a surprisingly hilarious horror franchise, 'Final Destination.' Bombay starts off the "I'm never gonna die" teenage hubris discussion by recalling a running joke he and a friend had in high school about memorial services for fellow classmates who met a grisly end. Then the fellas safety-proof their homes before talking about the film with a premise that was initially mined from an X-Files spec script. This installment in the franchise is almost quaint compared to how ludicrous it would become, but all the tenets are there of wild Rube Goldberg-style deaths, to gut busting lines about youngsters hoping to cheat death. The boys recap their favorite deaths, including the "You can just drop f***ing dead" bus scene that features a Nine Inch Nails song about reaching your final destination. Plus, they recap times in their youth where they narrowly avoided death, and try desperately to make sense of Ali Larter's hot girl goth-welder character. This episode will leave you laughing in the face of death.

Big (1988) | Pitching Gritty Remakes For This Movie

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay pick up some cans of silly string and pizzas to enjoy a wild night talking about 'Big.' Andy kicks things off by telling a story about a one night stand that ended abruptly after the girl walked into his man-child cave room adorned that showcased his affinity for comics. Then the fellas decide to give another beloved child's movie the Degen treatment, and discuss Penny Marshall's 1988 film. This starts with the guys pitching gritty remakes, and imagining how the story of a child turning into a man overnight, and heading to downtown New York in the '80s would work out for him in the real world. Afterwards, they get to the cherished coming-of-age romp which was really just a nearly two-hour showcase for Tom Hanks' star potential, as he hams it up. Sure, his depiction of an 11-year-old interacting with adults is more reminiscent of a toddler, but the film does nail the fact of young guys throwing their friends under the bus to get their hands on some boobies.

Napoleon Dynamite (2004) | Lying About Knowing Van Damme

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bomabay ask to use your guyses phone so they can get some chapstick and talk about the 2004 comedy gem 'Napoleon Dynamite.' Bombay remembers growing up with a kid who lied about his summer exploits like Napoleon telling classmates he killed wolverines. Then the boys strap on a pair of moon boots to discuss a flick that was a genuine cultural phenomenon. Set in Idaho in the 2000s, but steeped in '80s nostalgia the movie is the definition of specificity breeding universality. Which leads the guys to talk about their school cafeteria, and how tots not only rock, but are the perfect food fight weapon. Of course, besides the eats, they need to mention Kip being the man and pulling babes off the internet in the pay-per-minute internet era. Speaking of women, they have to mention Pedro and his family which includes a hot chola sister, and hard nosed cholo cousins that have his back. Perhaps the unsung star is Uncle Rico who maybe can't toss a pigskin over a mountain, but has the greatest on-camera steak throw of all time. The episode closes, as it should, discussing Napoleon's killer dance moves that he not only performs in moon boots, but without breaking character. So knock it off, get yourself a dang quesa-dilla, and check this one out.

21 Jump Street (2012) | Punching Cops At Bars

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay skip fourth period to go trip off some H.F.S. before talking about '21 Jump Street.' Andy gets the ball rolling by talking about cops who peaked in high school, and how he had a beef with one that led to a wild altercation and a restraining order. Then the boys are given the assignment by their angry yelling police captain to talk about one of the funniest movies of the 2010s. They kick it off by discussing Channing Tatum's loveable himbo/dummy character, and how much the guys appreciate that the movie addresses how handsome he is in that setting. There's also a heated debate about dyed blond hair vs frosted tips, and living in the Slim Shady era. Plus, they mention how this movie features one of Ice Cube's best roles, and how his hard exterior persona is perfect for comedy. Of course, they reminisce a bit about high school, and the use (or overuse) of acronyms to name the trendy chemicals of the time.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) | Finishing Too Quick with Girls

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay set the mood by putting on Side 1 of Zeppelin IV, so they can talk about the classic high school comedy 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High.' Bombay starts it off by remembering the time(s) he finished embarrassingly quickly just like Mike Damone when he got a chance with Jennifer Jason Leigh's Stacy. Then the fellas head over to the pool to chat about Phoebe Cates' legendary topless scene that broke VCRs throughout the '80s as being the most rewound scene in the home movie rental era. Besides the nudity, the film had plenty of laughs, and insights to offer about the teenage experience, and gets remembered for crude moments, but packs a wallop emotionally. Lost in the fray is the fact that this raunchy teen comedy written by a very young Cameron Crowe was directed by a woman. The guys relate to their own high school experience of skipping classes and working crappy retail jobs at the mall, and of course they make time for Sean Penn's surfer burnout Spicoli.

Heat (1995) | Tape 2 - The Action Is The Juice

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay quit their jobs at the diner kitchen in dramatic fashion so they can rush home and talk about the second half of 'Heat.' In the continuation of their special two-part coverage of the movie, they discuss the back half that features the greatest shootout scene caught on camera. It's 30 years later and the scene is still untouched, and filled with minute details from Michael Mann as the actors clearly displayed military handling of the weapons, and the director even made sure the bags of money were close to how much they'd weigh in real life. After shattering the cerebral touch of the first half of the flick with the shootout, the movie shifts to a revenge thriller as Rober De Niro's McCauley goes on a mission to tie up loose ends, while Al Pacino's Vincent's home life falls to pieces. Both men are forced to deal with the consequences for their poor decisions, as the film ends with a violent encounter that solidifies their feelings for one another. Andy and Bombay then take a moment, wipe away their own tears, and bask in the beauty of their favorite movie.

Heat (1995) | Tape 1 - Barbecues and Ball Games

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay get back from dealing with three dead bodies off the sidewalk of Venice Boulevard to talk about the movie that led to the impetus of Degen Cinema. It's a very special 100th episode as the fellas discuss a film they are so obsessed with it had previously been off-limits of even being mentioned on the podcast, Michael Mann's Heat. In this episode they tackle the diner scene and everything earlier as this was how the film was divided when first released on a double cassette VHS.  The boys recall the first times renting it in their youth, and then repeated viewings on cable, as this masterpiece featured the cinema equivalent of Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro squaring off at the height of their respective powers. Mann crafted this over the better part of two decades in the business, which included a lackluster TV movie that was basically a dry run for what would later become "Heat." A movie that, 30 years later, features what is still considered the best shootout scene captured on celluloid. Crafted with top to bottom incredible performances, it's also crammed with innumerable cool scenes, and unforgettable lines. You're gonna love this episode cause it's got a GREAT A**!

Goonies (1985) | Making Fun of Fat Kids was OK

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decided to bring their degenerate sensibilities to a kids classic as they discussed 'Goonies.' Andy starts with a bang as he remembers playing around with dynamite like the gang uses in the film, but the results were far more frightening than what was depicted on screen. Then the boys talk about a movie that found the perfect '80s alchemy, and is so steeped in nostalgia it seems slightly AI-created. First they tackle the tough subjects, such as 60% of the film's runtime revolving around ripping on Chunk being overweight, and Sloth being mentally challenged. In the case of Chunk the on-camera shaming seemed to work as the real life actor went on to become a major player in Hollywood. It wasn't only those characters who had it rough, but Andy makes a case for the Fratelli family, who besides their murderous traits are just your typical Long Island crew. Bombay recalls the movie inspiring him and friends to go on an underground adventure in the sewers, and how it was far more harrowing than this Richard Donner-directed flick made it appear. Basically the episode devolves into the guys confessing all their sins just like Chunk being interrogated, except with less stories about pouring puke on people at the theater. By the end of the ep you'll find yourself doing the Truffle Shuffle.

Jaws (1975) | Kintner Kid Deserved to Die

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decide to go to shore and get a bigger podcast, as they discuss one of the greatest films ever made, 'Jaws.' Bombay starts off the episode by relating how difficult it can be fitting in when you're new to a small town like Amity, and how it almost led to him getting arrested as a youth. Then the fellas cast off to talk about the movie. First by pouring one out for the opening girl who gets got by Jaws, Chrissy and her wonderful sweater puppies. Then there's discussion about why Alex Kintner, who was played by an actor with the last name Vorhees, maybe deserved to die. Plus, the guys talk about the three main leads who helped elevate this simple tale, and how Robert Shaw was a real life heavy drinker who didn't care for the cut of Richard Dreyfuss' jib. Add all that with the true arrival of John Williams, and the brilliance of a young Spielberg who was forced to improvise, and you have the birth of the summer blockbuster.

Happy Gilmore (1996) | Bob Barker Trained with Chuck Norris

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay hit some bombs at the driving range before talking about one of the great sports comedies, 'Happy Gilmore.' Andy tees off first by retelling the story of when he drugged everyone at his golf camp as a kid. Then the boys discuss this ultra-silly movie that wound up being the prototype for Adam Sandler comedies. They waste little time getting to the infamous Bob Barker cameo where he squared off with Sandler, and showed some seasoned chops as a fighter because the 70 year old game show host trained with Chuck Norris. Of course, the film is littered with the requisite cast of misfits in a Happy Madison production including the one-handed Chubbs, played to hilarious effect by Carl Weathers. Besides those lovable tertiary characters there's the evil Shooter McGavin at the center of it all, who we get to see devolve into a gremlin-person. Make sure you check out this episode cause we eat pieces of s*** like you for breakfast.

Con Air (1997) | Nic Cage's Flowing Hair & Weird Accent

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay got the whole wide world, in their hands, as they discuss 'Con Air.' Bombay opens the proceedings by telling the time he had his own flight from hell from Asia which involved being awake for 36 hours after a bender, with his arm in a sling. Then the fellas talk about one of the goofiest studio movies of the '90s, a film where Jerry Bruckheimer tapped a gun for hire to do his best Michael Bay impression, and the KY budget was record breaking as everyone glistened on screen. Nic Cage's flowing locks, and hackey inconsistent sometimes southern, sometimes Cajun accent, gets top billing, but it's an insanely stacked cast. John Malkovich chews scenery to degrees that'll make your jaw hurt, Danny Trejo is an ultra predatory latin Pepe le Pew, and Steve Buscemi is a poetic psychopath who wears heads for hats. Meanwhile, approximately 58% of the plot revolves around Cage's Poe securing insulin for his friend. None of it makes sense, but it ends with not one, but two wild crash scenes that tear up the majority of the Las Vegas strip. Whether you love the movie or find it overly cartoonish you'll want to tune in for this episode ... "or the bunny gets it."

Point Break (1991) | Surfing While High on Ketamine

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decide to crush two meatball subs each before jumping on their boards to talk 'Point Break.' Andy opens the set by telling the story about his magical day on the beach that started with drinks and smoke, and suddenly got out of control as he tried to impress women by surfing while on ketamine — think Bodhi's last wave, but even more disastrous. Then the boys dive in to talk about this elevated trash masterpiece that changed the game for studio action. In addition to the gorgeous leads, the movie is littered with hunky dudes, and is a visual feast for those who appreciated creative camera shots, and washboard abs. You have angelically handsome Keanu Reeves playing opposite beach-haired Patrick Swayze, whose crazy eyes belie a character who is barely keeping his insanity subdued. In today's movie climate, Bodhi would've earned the actor countless awards — even if only for the gas pump-flamethrower scene. On top of all the eye candy you have a member of Degen Mt. Rushmore, Gary Busey, lending his insane energy to the film. This episode will have you gripped before we say "vaya con dios" friends.

Friday (1995) | Buying Drugs Off the Ice Cream Man

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decide to get high on their days off as they talk about the comedy classic, 'Friday.' Andy starts off the hot summer day by recalling the time he used to cop off an ice cream man, and much like Smokey and Big Worm, he got behind in payments. Then the guys dive in on one of the great hang flicks that perfectly captures the eclectic mix of characters you grow up with in your neighborhood. They reminisce about parents that would lock their kids out, households that would have one of something but never the other, and getting high with your friends while you're unemployed. Of course, the movie is helped by an insane comedy cast that included John Witherspoon that advised "nobody go in that bathroom for about 35, 45 minutes," and an undeniable star-making turn from Chris Tucker. Add in a heaping of hilarious eclectic characters, prime Nia Long, and more quotable lines than the '90s could contain, and you have an endurable film that ages finer than Mrs. Parker in jean shorts. This episode is guaranteed to leave you laughing ... and you know this, mannnn.

Speed (1994) | Saving Girls From Creeps on a Bus

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay take a Los Angeles city bus to the studio to record their 'Speed' episode. Bombay gets it started by reminiscing about the time he saw two girls getting harassed on public transit, and how it wound up in a fortuitous meeting. Then there's a "Pop quiz, hot shot!" as the fellas do their best to bring Dennis Hopper-esque unhinged energy to discuss this '90s classic. Besides Hopper's looney turn as a villain, there's a ton to like in this wonderfully-paced actioner that's filled with wonderful character actors in supporting roles, and bolstered by two undeniable leads that are propelled into ludicrous situation after ludicrous situation. Perhaps none more unbelievable than the fact that nearly everyone taking the bus were on a first name basis with each other. On top of all that there are multiple practical F/X set pieces that clearly cost the lives of several crew members. When talking about all this, the guys do their best to bring undeniable charm to the proceedings, similar to Sandra Bullock's star-making role. Much like an unreliable city bus you have to take to work, you won't want to miss this ep.

EuroTrip (2004) | Crapping Your Pants on Absinthe

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay head to the Feisty Goat to hang with soccer hooligans and talk 'EuroTrip.' Andy starts the episode off by recalling the first time he tried absinthe, and how it was similar to the characters trying it in the movie, as he didn't realize just how messed up it made him until it was far too late. Then the fellas use a Europass to jump on the train and discuss a movie with an inciting incident that involves an all-time hilarious cameo from Matt Damon, and one of the most infectious made-for-movie songs ever recorded. Things quickly go off the rails, both in the movie and on the episode, as the guys remember the dicey scenarios of meeting girls online in the early internet days. There's a story about being shocked at how brazen the proprietor of a sex club in Montreal acted, as the boys jump from sticky situation to sticky situation. They also take time to mention some of the memorable performances including a never-hotter Michelle Trachtenberg (RIP), a ludicrously creepy Italian Fred Armisen, and an eye-socket beer-opening Vinnie Jones. Much like the movie, it's just a breezy, bonkers episode that'll have you rushing to play 'Scotty Doesn't Know' as soon as it's over.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) | Random Hard Kisses From Girls

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay light the fuse for a special Cruisemas edition of the podcast as they discuss one of the greatest action movies of all-time, 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout.' Bombay jumps into action by remembering a time when a gorgeous girl hit him with a surprisingly hard kiss, reminiscent of Vanessa Kirby grabbing Ethan Hunt. Then Andy recalls utilizing MoviePass when this was in theater and seeing this flick countless times while being unemployed — and severely under the influence. Then the fellas chat about this instant classic, and make a motion for 'Fallout' to not only be taught in every classroom, but to be requisite viewing for all children across America. This leads to discussing their favorite action set pieces, and having difficulty deciding between the HALO jump, the inner city motorcycle chase, and the bonkers helicopter flight chase sequence. Choosing between those is almost as difficult as the game of Marry, Marry, Marry between the enchanting lightly-freckled trio of Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Michelle Monaghan. Simon Pegg's franchise-best comedic chops get some love, as do Ving Rhames' hats. Even Henry Cavill finds his calling as a mustachioed heavy, who can't comprehend why Cruise's Hunt won't just die. Of course, it's all held together by cinema's savior who made the ultimate sacrifice by breaking his ankle Jackie Chan 'Rumble in the Bronx'-style when he jumped out of a window for our entertainment. The greater the suffering, the greater the podcast. Merry Cruisemas to all!
