How One Woman's Fight Exposed Pickton's Reign of Terror
In March 1997, a desperate woman named Ms. Anderson got into a red pickup truck, hoping to make enough money to escape her abusive pimp. Instead, she was lured to Robert Pickton's farm and became the first woman to survive his attack.
Stabbed, handcuffed, and left to die, she fought back with unimaginable courage, escaping into the night. Her testimony was credible, the evidence was damning, and yet the system let him go. This is her story—the one that could have stopped a serial killer.
Key Evidence Police Found:
A handcuff key on Pickton that matched the cuff on her wrist.
A stranger's bra in his truck.
A blood-soaked trailer.
Unused condoms.
Timeline of a Nightmare:
March 22, 1997, ~11:00 PM: Ms. Anderson accepts Pickton's offer.
~11:30 PM: They arrive at his farm trailer.
~Midnight: Pickton handcuffs her; a violent struggle ensues.
~12-2:00 AM (March 23): She slashes his throat; he stabs her in the abdomen. She escapes and gets help from a nearby couple.
~2:00 AM: Rushed to hospital; she flatlines twice on the operating table.
~3:17 AM: Pickton arrives at the same hospital for his wounds.
March 23: RCMP search the farm and seize evidence.
March 27: Ms. Anderson gives her official statement, fearing there are other victims.
Later 1997: Charges against Pickton are stayed. He is released.
This flagship episode exposes the systemic failures and indifference that allowed a massacre to happen. Her fight was just the beginning.
Content Warning: This episode contains graphic descriptions of violence, assault, and institutional betrayal. Listener discretion is advised.
Introduction & Content Warning
The host opens with a strong warning: this episode covers deeply disturbing topics, including violence, exploitation, and death.
Unlike typical true crime podcasts, Pictonland explores a case that has emotionally and physically drained the host.
The Robert Pickton Case
The episode dives into the horrific crimes of Robert Pickton, a serial killer whose farm in Vancouver became a graveyard for missing women.
Systemic Failures & Cover-Ups
The host criticizes the flawed investigation and legal process:
Only 6 murders were prosecuted, despite evidence of many more.
40 unidentified male DNA profiles were found on the farm—raising questions about accomplices.
Police files went missing, including a 1990 case and a 1997 knife fight involving Pickton.
A publication ban kept details hidden for years.
The Host’s Investigation
After 1,000+ hours of research, including interviews with ex-cops, forensic experts, and victims’ families, the host built a "forensic mosaic" of the case. They emphasize uncovering the truth without exploiting grief.
Broader Implications
Vulnerable women continue to disappear in British Columbia.
The Downtown Eastside remains dangerous, with predators still operating.
The Missing Women’s Inquiry failed to bring real change.
The Farm Today – A Site of Erasure
The host visits 953 Dominion Road, now an empty, fenced-off field with no memorial. At a candlelight vigil, only family members showed up—officials and media ignored it.
Later, someone removed all the flowers and posters, treating them like trash. The host condemns this as another act of violence.
Key Message: Pickton Didn’t Act Alone
The host argues:
Pickton was not a "lone killer"—others were involved.
Society, the justice system, and authorities enabled these crimes.
"Monsters operate in plain sight"—silence allows them to thrive.
Why This Podcast Matters
This 20-part series will:
Examine Pickton’s behavior through interrogation footage.
Expose systemic failures and hidden truths.
Give a voice to the victims and challenge false narratives.
Final Thoughts
The host vows: "The soil remembers. The air remembers. And we remember." This podcast is not for entertainment—it’s a fight for justice, truth, and accountability.
Episode 10 – The Final Anomaly: Interrogation Failures and the Soft Approach
Dark Mind Detective: Top 10 Anomalies in the Robert Pickton Case
After thousands of hours of research, interviews with law enforcement, survivors, and families, we’ve arrived at the final and perhaps most disturbing anomaly of the Pickton investigation—the soft, baffling, and at times incompetent interrogation of a man who confessed to killing 49 women.
🔍 In this episode, we examine:
Why investigators failed to follow up after Pickton bragged about killing 49 women in his jail cell.
The shocking absence of legal counsel during the 2002 interrogation, despite Pickton's history of retaining top lawyers.
A strangely soft interrogation strategy despite overwhelming forensic evidence.
Missed opportunities to press Pickton when he mentioned names like Dena Taylor.
A bizarre declaration that Dave Pickton wasn’t involved—made before a full investigation was complete.
Pickton’s manipulative behavior, pretending to be slow or confused, while recalling precise life details.
Critical delays and tactical missteps by officers trained and rehearsed for a year to question him.
📖 Failure to apply known interrogation strategies, such as the Reid or PEACE models, effectively.
Systemic failure to connect key evidence to direct confrontation during interrogation.
A damning confession that was never leveraged to identify victims or pursue further charges.
This is more than a podcast episode—this is a forensic breakdown of how not to interrogate a serial killer.
🎤 Stay tuned—Picktonland, a 20-part deep dive into the case, is coming soon.
What happens when institutions fail—and no one pays the price?
In this chilling installment of The Dark Mind Detective, we confront one of the most infuriating anomalies in the Robert Pickton investigation: the complete lack of accountability from those in power.
No police chiefs fired. No government officials held to account. Despite years of ignored warnings, marginalized whistleblowers, and a trail of death and disappearance that should have sparked mass resignations, what we got instead was a sanitized whitewash.
We explore the dangerous illusion of accountability in Canada—a system that protects itself with redacted reports, bureaucratic smokescreens, and endless inquiries that name no names. Like narcissists, these institutions don’t seek justice. They fear shame. They double down. They gaslight.
From the Downtown Eastside to the halls of Parliament, we ask the question few dare to: Who really enabled this horror—and why have they been protected?
This episode is a call to vigilance, a demand for public courage, and a reminder that silence is complicity. If the monster was caught in 2002, why does the system that let him thrive still look the other way?
Welcome to Chapter 9: The Monster Isn’t Just a Man—It’s the System That Protected Him.

How does one of Canada’s most prolific serial killers operate for decades—right under the noses of law enforcement?
In this shocking chapter, we expose the catastrophic investigative failures, missing files, and destroyed evidence that let Robert Pickton slip through the cracks again and again. From the near-fatal stabbing of a woman in 1997 to mounting reports of sexual assault, abduction, and witness testimony—none of it was enough to stop him. Why?
We’ll take you deep into a timeline of missed opportunities and institutional negligence: a Crown file destroyed in violation of a 75-year retention policy, barrels suspected to contain human remains never opened, and crucial DNA evidence simply ignored.
You’ll also hear about early warnings going back to the 1980s—including whispers of snuff films, missing babysitters, and a freezer allegedly holding body parts—long before Pickton became a household name.
With insight from forensic psychologist Dr. Rachel Toles, we also confront the chilling possibility that Pickton began killing far earlier than authorities admit—perhaps as early as the 1970s.
Was this just incompetence? Or a much darker cover-up?
This episode lays out the evidence, the failures, and the haunting question at the heart of the case: Who was protecting Robert Pickton—and why?
Milestone Events That Should Have Triggered Action – Chronological Breakdown
1983–1985
Pauline Johnson’s murder – Her body was found near the Pickton property. Pickton was considered a person of interest due to proximity and ownership of boning knives. No charges laid.
Early to Mid-1980s
Allegations of assault and kidnapping linked to Pickton emerge, but no formal charges or follow-ups.
Late 1980s
Babysitter disappears after working on the Pickton farm. A woman named Kathy allegedly contacted police, but no investigation followed.
1989
Sexual assault in Surrey – Pickton was named a suspect.
🔥 Case file later destroyed, eliminating critical early evidence of violent behavior.
1991
Nancy Clark disappears from Victoria. Her DNA is later found on Pickton’s farm—suggesting he was active years earlier than officially acknowledged.
1997 – Attempted murder of "Miss Anderson"
She was stabbed four times by Pickton, managed to escape, disarmed him, and even stabbed him in self-defense.
Pickton was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Charges stayed in 1998 due to her addiction issues. No victim protection or support offered.
Crown file destroyed in 2000 or 2001—a violation of mandatory 75-year file retention.
1999 – New Westminster sexual assault
Another sex worker was sexually assaulted and strangled but survived. Willing to testify. No charges filed.
1999 – Burnaby threat
A woman recognized Pickton, stated he had threatened her. Again, no follow-up.
1999 – Barrel deliveries observed
Police witnessed Pickton delivering barrels to West Coast Reduction, a rendering plant.
❌ Despite tips suggesting he was disposing of human remains, no inspection was done.
August 1999
RCMP considered a search warrant and wiretap, but the Crown advised against it.
Affidavit was drafted.
❌ Never submitted.
January 2000 – Voluntary RCMP interview
Pickton was not read his rights, and his friend answered questions for him, compromising the interview. No usable intel gained.
2000 – Pickton offers DNA search
He voluntarily offered police to search his property for DNA. They declined.
August 1999 & April 2000 – Sex worker surveys
Multiple women identified Pickton and described disturbing encounters.
❌ This information was not communicated effectively across investigative teams.
February 6, 2002 – Firearm search warrant
Pickton’s property was searched for illegal firearms, not murder.
Discovery of disturbing evidence led to a second warrant and massive crime scene investigation.
Dark Mind Detective – Chapter 7: Top 10 Anomalies in the Robert Pickton Case
Was Robert Pickton truly the lone monster we’ve been led to believe?
In this explosive episode, investigative journalist Marc Deveraux unpacks Anomaly #7—a devastating chapter in the case that exposes overwhelming evidence of multiple perpetrators, industrial-scale disposal, and a criminal network that reached far beyond one man.
Discover:
The forensic trail of over 40 unknown male DNA profiles
How unlicensed slaughterhouse operations may have hidden unspeakable horrors
The disturbing link between organized crime and the Downtown Eastside
And why the official narrative simply doesn’t add up
This episode is not just a retelling—it's a reckoning.
Marc also announces the launch of his national speaking tour: From Tragedy to Truth, a raw and powerful journey into missing persons, human trafficking, and community healing.

This is more than just a podcast episode—it’s a final tribute to a man whose life was lived on the edge of violence, loyalty, and redemption.
In this special combined release of our first three interviews, we revisit the extraordinary life of David Vella: a former mob enforcer, cartel operative, and deeply reflective soul who, in his final days, opened his heart and story to the world.
David was no ordinary guest. He was my friend. And this one was a tough one to make.
Diagnosed with terminal cancer, David knew the clock was ticking.
But rather than retreat into silence, he chose to speak—to unearth the truth about a life spent in the shadows, to clear the air on myths and lies, and to leave behind a record of what he saw, did, and survived.
From his time as Eddie Melo’s trusted Friend, to his insider knowledge of mafia operations in Canada, to the blackmail of notorious financier Robert Vesco, David’s story reads like a crime epic—only it’s all true.
Firsthand accounts of murders, betrayals, and survival inside organized crime
The raw, unfiltered voice of a man reckoning with his past
Stories of loyalty, violence, and unexpected redemption
David’s willingness to speak—unscripted and unflinching—was an act of bravery. It meant the world that he trusted Dark Mind Detective as his platform. His voice will live on.
Though the man behind the legend may soon pass, the impact of his story will endure.
Rest easy, David. I’ll miss our talks, your grit, and your loyalty. Thank you for trusting me to tell your story.

Bonus Episode: The Dirt of Death – Cursed Soil, Murder Energy, and the Haunting Legacy of the Pickton Farm
In this haunting bonus installment of Dark Mind Detective, Marc shares a chilling, deeply personal experience—standing on the cursed remains of the Pickton pig farm during a candlelight vigil with members of the Indigenous community.
Though the farm is now a fenced-off field, the air is still thick with something heavy, something unnatural.
What begins as an emotional reflection unfolds into a disturbing journey through environmental corruption, occult folklore, and Vancouver’s darkest secrets.
This episode reveals a little-known horror: the Pickton family’s contaminated topsoil business, which sold earth mixed with industrial waste and human remains across Metro
Vancouver—into gardens, school grounds, parks, farms, and even playgrounds. Not only was the soil carcinogenic, but in many traditions, it would also be considered cursed earth—the kind used in black magic, graveyard rituals, and ancient war spells.
The emotional weight and spiritual unease felt while standing at the Pickton crime site.
How soil from Expo 86—a former industrial dump—was laced with lead, cadmium, dioxins, benzene, and human body parts, then sold to the public.
The occult uses of graveyard dirt in hoodoo and black magic: from doom oil to goofer dust.
Cultural legends of cursed lands:
Plague pits and haunted battlefields in European folklore.
The badlands of South Dakota, soaked in ancient sorrow.
Execution fields and mass graves believed to carry “murder energy.”
The concept that murder and trauma can contaminate the earth, infecting those who walk upon it or grow food in it.
The eerie possibility that this wasn't just industrial negligence—but ritualistic dispersal of energy from a killing field.

Dark Mind Detective | Parts 4 & 5: “Barrels, Freezers, and Witnesses Ignored”
Top 10 Anomalies of the Robert Pickton Case
How do you lose a freezer full of body parts? How do police follow a serial killer to a rendering plant and not check what’s inside the 45-gallon barrel he dumps there?
In Parts 4 and 5 of this groundbreaking series, I take you deeper into the disturbing failures, ignored tips, and haunting details that expose the deep rot inside one of the most botched investigations in North American history.
I’ve spent over a thousand hours researching this case, studying over 200 serial killer profiles, and mapping out clusters of missing people across North America. This isn’t just a podcast. This is an act of truth-telling.
What you’ll hear in these two parts:
Police ignored tips about drums filled with human remains… while Pickton was under surveillance.
A woman claimed she saw Pickton skinning a woman like a pig—but her statement was buried due to her addiction.
Multiple freezers allegedly containing body parts were ignored in 1999, despite repeated tips.
🧬 Forensic bombshell: Unidentified male DNA was found on victims—how could this be the work of one man?
Institutional sabotage and shocking cover-ups—was this just incompetence, or something darker?
Why were key documents destroyed or sealed, even though this is Canada’s largest serial killer investigation?
From deliberate ignorance to systemic betrayal, these episodes will challenge everything you thought you knew about the Pickton case—and what justice means.

The Top 10 Anomalies in the Pickton Case (Parts 1–3)In this investigative deep-dive, Marc exposes the disturbing truths the public was never meant to see.
These first three episodes explore some of the most outrageous and unexplained anomalies in the Robert Pickton case — facts that undermine the official lone-wolf narrative and suggest a far more sinister reality involving potential accomplices, police failures, and systemic rot.
Unidentified Male DNA (Part 1)
Over 40 unidentified male DNA profiles were found at the crime scene, including on victims’ remains and murder weapons — and Robert Pickton's DNA was excluded from many of them.
DNA was recovered from handcuff keys, buckets, chewing gum, and tools, indicating hands-on involvement by multiple unknown men.
One man, Pat Casanova, had his DNA everywhere: on bones, scales, and in slaughter areas, yet he was never charged.
The RCMP's Shocking Social Visit (Part 2)
In 2001, Corporal Frank Henley of the RCMP visited Pickton's farm under the guise of a “social call” and told Pickton the names of two informants.
He did so a full year before Pickton’s arrest, potentially endangering key witnesses and compromising the investigation.
Henley later shrugged off the visit, saying he “just wanted to meet him.” His actions are suspected to have delayed the arrest — while Pickton continued killing.
Millions of Withheld Documents (Part 3)
Out of millions of documents and over 600,000 exhibits, less than 20% of the Pickton case files have ever been made public.
The RCMP is accused of actively destroying physical evidence, despite new DNA technologies that could identify additional victims or perpetrators.
Critics argue the suppression is not about protecting ongoing investigations — it’s about hiding institutional failure, corruption, and complicity.
This isn’t just a true crime story — it’s a national reckoning. The evidence demands answers. The victims deserve justice. And we deserve the truth.
Stay tuned for Parts 4–10. And if this work speaks to you, please support my upcoming speaking tour, share this series, and help bring this investigation to a global stage.
Key Points from Parts 1–3: Final Thought

Hey, it's Marc from Dark Mind Detective. I’m excited to announce that I’m officially launching a speaking tour across Canada and the U.S. This is more than just a podcast — it’s a movement. After years of research, I’m ready to bring the truth to the public stage. I can’t wait to meet you in person and shine a light on the darkest chapters of our true crime history.
Welcome to Dark Mind Detective – I’m your host, Marc.
What you're about to hear is not another true crime retelling.
This is the beginning of a series I’ve spent the last year developing. After more than a thousand hours of research, over 30 published episodes, and direct conversations with insiders and whistleblowers… I can confidently say:
The Robert Pickton case is not just one of Canada’s greatest criminal failures—
It is a global cautionary tale about secrecy, power, and systemic collapse.
This episode is an introduction to a new 10-part miniseries I’m calling:
"The Top 10 Head-Scratching Anomalies of the Pickton Case."
Each episode in that series has already been recorded and will be released one by one in the coming weeks.
These aren’t theories.
These are facts—
sourced from court documents, police files, forensic data, and firsthand accounts.
We’re going to explore:
Over 40 unidentified male DNA profiles found with victim remains...
A “social visit” by an RCMP officer who gave Pickton the names of informants...
Millions of pages of sealed documents...
And why no senior official has ever been held accountable.
Each of these anomalies stands on its own.
Together, they paint a picture far darker than what the public was ever shown.
But here’s what’s even more important—
This 10-part series is just the gateway to something even deeper.
Coming soon is my full 20-part exposé that goes beyond anomalies.
It maps out the entire criminal ecosystem surrounding the Pickton case—
and how that ecosystem allowed dozens, possibly hundreds, of women to vanish without a trace.
This isn’t just storytelling.
This is a call to reckon with a system that buried the truth.
And I want to take that truth on the road.
I’m officially launching my national speaking tour this year.
We’re starting in Western Canada—BC, Alberta—
then heading east across the country, and finally down into the United States.
If you’re listening to this, there’s a good chance I’ll be in your city or town soon.
Stay subscribed, join the newsletter on my Substack, and follow the tour schedule.
Because we are building more than a podcast.
We are building a movement.
For those who want real answers.
For those who believe truth matters.
Thank you for being here.
Now let’s begin.
After a long silence, the storm is coming.
In this special teaser episode, I return with the biggest updates of my career—because what’s coming next is going to shake the ground. While I was laid out by a brutal month of hay fever, I wasn't idle.
I spent that time writing, building, and uncovering. And now, it's time to talk.
You’ll hear the first word about three massive projects now in the pipeline:
🧩 A 10-part podcast series on the top anomalies in the Robert Pickton case—twisted facts, ignored evidence, and buried leads that will change how you understand one of the darkest cases in Canadian history.
🧨 A deathbed confessional from David Vella—a high-ranking former cartel hitman connected to both Colombian and Mexican cartels. He's agreed to record a tell-all podcast with me, but only at the very end... because the truth he carries could still get him arrested.
🕵️ Explosive revelations from a former law enforcement officer who worked the Downtown Eastside missing women case, including:
Robert Pickton’s mysterious pen pal who received his final will and power of attorney
His eagerness to finally speak at his parole hearing—and who he planned to expose
A wealthy man with a boat tied to Piggy Palace parties
And the chilling details of the Hemlock Valley murders, where women were allegedly hunted for sport
Also in this episode, I preview my upcoming national speaking tour, set to begin in Canada and the U.S., and I offer a glimpse of my upcoming Dark Jiu-Jitsu™ course—a tactical system for surviving emotional manipulation, abuse, and psychological warfare.
And finally, a big thank you to my listeners in Australia—you're now my largest international audience. I see you, and I hope to bring this tour to your shores soon.
This is just the beginning. The truth is coming. Stay close.

In this final part of our investigative series into the death of Chelsea Poorman, we pull back the curtain—not just on one suspicious case—but on a terrifying pattern playing out across Vancouver and the broader West Coast of Canada.
This is not just about Chelsea.
This is about systemic rot, institutional neglect, and a city that has quietly become a predator’s sanctuary—a place where women can disappear without headlines, and bodies can be found in wealthy neighborhoods with no justice in sight.
Chelsea Poorman was 24 years old.
She vanished after a night out in downtown Vancouver and was discovered nearly two years later—her remains hidden on the patio of a $10 million Shaughnessy mansion.
Despite forensic red flags, digital anomalies, and physical barriers that made her presence at the location implausible, the Vancouver Police declared her death "not suspicious."
But the data tells a different story.
When we analyze the clusters of missing and murdered Indigenous women—Chelsea Poorman, Noelle O'Soup, Tatiana Harrison, and others—we find geographic, temporal, and investigative overlaps that are impossible to ignore. Predators are operating in and around Vancouver, emboldened by low clearance rates, jurisdictional confusion, and a lack of media scrutiny.
This is not theory.
This is pattern.
We look at the Hemlock Valley Killer, Robert Pickton, the “Boozing Barber,” and hundreds of high-risk predators who were quietly documented by authorities and then ignored. Many of them used the Downtown Eastside like a hunting ground—because they could.
Because they were allowed to.
Predators share information.
They migrate to jurisdictions with weak investigations.
They exploit our digital blind spots and take advantage of dark tourism, drug crises, money laundering networks, and communities already torn apart by addiction and poverty.
In this episode, I lay out a forensic roadmap—based on FBI gold-standard investigative frameworks—that could and should have been followed in Chelsea’s case.
The kind of roadmap that might have saved her, and could still help others.
We also discuss a horrifying truth: Canada has become a country of performative progressivism—talking reconciliation and equity on the world stage, while ignoring the bodies of Indigenous women found right in our backyards.
This episode isn’t just a conclusion.
It’s a call to action.

🖤 To Chelsea’s family: May you one day find justice.
When I first created Vancouver True Crime—now The Dark Mind Detective—my mission was clear: expose the darkness hiding behind this city's beautiful facade.
Among the many disturbing truths, none haunts me more than the disappearance and mysterious death of Chelsea Poorman.
Chelsea was a 24-year-old First Nations woman who came to Vancouver for a fresh start.
Instead, she became yet another name in the long list of missing and murdered Indigenous women.
After vanishing in 2020, her remains were found nearly two years later in the unlikeliest of places—a $10 million Shaughnessy mansion.
What makes this case so disturbing isn't just where Chelsea was found—it's how the system responded.
The Vancouver Police Department labeled her death "non-suspicious" despite overwhelming forensic red flags: her skull was missing, her body was discovered in a secure property surrounded by hedges, fencing, and surveillance, and her known mobility issues made it nearly impossible for her to have reached the location on her own.
Add in the presence of zip ties, suspicious objects, and a conveniently missing phone—and you get a case screaming for deeper investigation.
But it never came.
I've walked the grounds where Chelsea was found. I've spoken at length with her father, Mike.
I've reviewed footage, aerial photos, and records that contradict the official story.
Construction activity, flyover drone shots, weather conditions, and biological evidence all suggest one thing: Chelsea was not there for 19 months.
She was placed there—likely after death—and her story swept under the rug.
And this isn't an isolated incident.
Chelsea's case is emblematic of a deeper rot in Vancouver’s justice system.
From the horrors of Robert Pickton to predators like Donald Baker and Martin Tremblay, this city has allowed serial predators to thrive.
I've spent years interviewing survivors, former gangsters, and insiders. I've heard of human trafficking rings operating under the guise of NGOs.
I've uncovered evidence of spotters embedded in outreach organizations, targeting vulnerable women as they step off buses.
This is not just negligence. It's complicity.
The media downplayed Chelsea's death.
The police failed her.
The city ignored her.
And yet, she mattered.
Her life, her pain, and her story demand justice—not just for her, but for every woman failed by this broken system.
This episode is a tribute to Chelsea Poorman and a warning: if we don't confront the truth, it will keep happening.

The Disappearance and Deaths of Chelsea Poorman, Noelle O’Soup, Tatyanna Harrison
⚠️ What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
How police failed to act when Chelsea, a disabled woman, went missing—and why her body was later found in a $10M mansion’s backyard.
Why Noelle O’Soup’s body sat undiscovered in a Downtown Eastside apartment—months after police had already entered the room.
The chilling details behind Tatyanna Harrison’s body being found on a yacht, half-dressed, with GHB in her system—and no one investigated further.
Each case reveals what experts are calling a “zone of impunity” for predators targeting Indigenous women in Vancouver and beyond.
Despite public inquiries like the one following serial killer Robert Pickton, these tragedies show that little has changed—and the system continues to fail.
This Is More Than Tragedy—It’s a Pattern
Three Questions This Podcast Asks You to Consider:
When the police call a woman’s death ‘not suspicious’—even when her skull is missing—what are they really saying?
Why are multiple Indigenous women ending up dead in close proximity—with no real investigations launched?
Is this ongoing failure the result of incompetence—or something more calculated?
