012. Senior Product Manager at Amazon & Founder of The STEAM Queens, Women in Tech, Bridging the Gender and Diversity gap in STEAM, and Leaving a Long Term Company (w/Breenae Washington)

On today's episode, Corporate-ish has a conversation with Breenae Washington.  Breenae is an engineer with a passion for diversity and inclusion.  Growing up, she excelled at math and science but often questioned her abilities because she didn't see other girls who shared her interests.  Despite the lack of representation, with the support of her family and teachers, she found the strength to take the road less traveled.  After receiving her degree from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and starting a career in IT, she quickly noticed that the lack of diversity in STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) was still a serious issue.  This fueled her desire to make a difference.  Today, her mission is to bridge the gender and diversity gap in STEM/STEAM through early exposure and education.  We'll talk with Breenae about what she does as a Senior Product Manager at Amazon, leaving Mastercard after working there for nearly 9 years, and the initiatives she's pushing forward with her organization, The STEAM Queens.

Visit The STEAM Queens website at thesteamqueens.com

Breenae's book is called The STEAM Queens Amazon.com: The STEAM Queens: 9781732988521: Washington, Breenae M, Whaley, Felicia: Books
