Today on the show I talk to local legend and bassist, Jeff Fournier, of Heroes & Villians, Timmy's Organism, and Wiccans. I've known Jeff a long time and he is one of the coolest guys around. Tune in to hear about hyperspecific local talk and more talk about modular synths. He's just a real chill dude.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Jeff Rosenstock

In this episode, I get to talk to one of my favorite musicians, Jeff Rosenstock. We talk music and how we pay for it, where to find hope, Craig of the Creek, and his D&D character. It was a real good time.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
David Paco Rochemont

I'm back again with another conversation, this time with an old friend of mine from the local music scene, David Paco Rochemont. We reminisce about the old days before we talk about his new project, building guitar pedals as Zug Island Pedals. It was great to catch up and I hope you enjoy it.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Len Pennie

On today’s episode, I talk with Scottish poet and Scots language advocate, Len Pennie. This young poet blew me away when I stumbled across her work on Twitter thanks to Neil Gaiman, who follows her. I was honored to have her on and discuss having famous followers, internet trolls, and, of course, speaking Scots. We even had a bit of a cultural exchange. It was a very good time.

Stay tuned for more Conversations with a Curmudgeon in the near future. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication, I won't be on the radio for a few weeks. But stay subbed anyway for new episodes in the meantime. Thanks!

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Hainbach

In today's episode, I talk to the ambient, electronic musician and YouTuber from Berlin, Hainbach. We talked about how he got started in music, test equipment, and YouTube, his love of tape, and I stubble trying to make a connection between Germany and America. Hainbach was very nice about it and everything else though. It was a lovely chat and I hope you enjoy it.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Daisuke Beppu

In today's show, I talk to cinema lover and YouTuber Daisuke Beppu. His calm, measured and apparent love of film is a nice oasis in the loud abrasive world of YouTube. We had a lovely chat about the movie-going experience in 2020, physical media and our favorite scores. Enjoy!

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Screaming Females

This one has the worst audio quality of all time (for reasons I explain in the intro).  But Screaming Females are one of my all-time favorite bands (maybe the band I've seen the most live?) and it was a pretty good birthday. So enjoy if you can.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Angie G.

Part two of a two-part series in which I interview ex-romantic relationships to figure out what is wrong with me and why I've been without a partner for close to a decade. This episode is the first time catching up with Angie in about three-ish years. She's married with two kids now. I miss her all the time. If you think this concept is nuts, you should see what I did in 2019.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
Mallory M.

Part one of a two-part series in which I interview ex-romantic relationships to figure out what is wrong with me and why I've been without a partner for close to a decade. This episode is a phone call with the only girl who has ever been willing to call herself my girlfriend officially, Mallory. This was her chance to tell me how I did. If you think this concept is nuts, you should see what I did in 2019.

Conversations with a Curmudgeon
John M. Park, MD

This is an interview from 2016 with John M. Park, MD who, when I was a child, was my doctor. I had a lot of bladder and kidney trouble as a kid and he got me through it. He's the reason I had to pee out of my belly button for a while. Listen for details!

Here's an interview with the artist behind three of the four tattoos on my body. He's a talented and very nice dude. Since 2016, when we recorded this, Brad has moved and I miss him.

Justin Small

In this interview from 2016, I got the chance to interview Justin Small of one of my favorite bands Do Make Say Think. We discuss his then-ongoing Song a Week project and the then-upcoming new DMST record. It was honestly one of the coolest things I ever got to do.

Scott Boyink

Here's an interview with no other than local legend Scott Boyink of The Amino Acids, Steve Harvey Oswald, and Hype Tshirts. These days he doesn't do any of those things much anymore and instead took up making sure bars and music venues have Narcan on hand in case someone overdoses. He's a saint.
