The Conversational Métis Sash is a podcast created in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Doctorate in Philosophy degree in Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. This podcast is created by Madelaine McCracken, who is a Red River Métis educator, researcher, and consultant.

The series brings together thoughtful conversational contributions with Métis scholars, including Dr. Yvonne Poitras Pratt, Dr. Jennifer Markides, Dr. Laura Forsythe, and Dr. Lucy Delgado, and Métis teacher Dana Chaulk, who are all located throughout the Northwest Métis Homeland.

Each episode offers stories about their lived experiences, pedagogies, and teaching practices as they teach Truth Before Reconciliation to pre-service teachers in Métis-specific ways. We invite listeners into stories that centre wahkotowin, relationality, reciprocity, balance, and responsibility, values grounded in Métis worldviews.

Through these conversations, the podcast aims to make research accessible and weave together personal narratives, critical reflection, and creative expression to impact the pedagogy and practices of all who choose to listen.

This podcast draws on research supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
