Get to know the men and women companions around our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. The stories of the companions are brought to live here by my rendition of the book, Companions of the Prophet, translated from Arabic book sources by the late AbdulWahid Hamid and published by the Muslim Education and Literary Services, in short MELS from UK. There are 30 short stories of the companions found in each volume of this book. I hope the book's intention to highlight aspects of the lives of the companion, some of whom are already famous while others are almost completely unknown.

Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, was the youngest child of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessing be upon him. 1-7 Mus'ab carried the Muslim Standard in the Battle of Uhud

Mus'ab r.a was the first few companions to arrive in Yathrib for the Hijrah. His treatment toward his blood brother, Abu 'Aziz when he was captured in the Battle of Badr and made as prisoner-of-war, proved Mus'ab r.a's commitment to treat his brothers in Islam more than his own flesh and blood. In the Battle of Uhud, Mus'ab r.a rushed to protect the Prophet, peace be upon him, when the instructions to the army to stay in positions were deserted and disobeyed, exposing the Prophet in danger. It was Mus'ab who rushed to save the Prophet, peace be upon him.

1-5 Mus'ab as Muslim Ambassador to Yathrib (Medina)

The Prophet, peace be upon him, had chosen Mus'ab r.a to become the 'ambassador' of Islam to Yathrib, which is now Medina City. His job was to teach a small group of believers who had come to pledge allegiance to Islam and to prepare the city for the great migration of the Muslims from Mecca to Yathrib. This is called the great Hijrah. Why was Mus'ab r.a chosen for this role when others were older than him and some were closer to the Prophet by blood line? It is because of his fine mannerism, sharp intellect and mostly for his knowledge of the Quran and his ability to recite it beautifully. Listen on.

1-4 Mus'ab's Contentment with Islam

Years passed in Mecca since the first revelation to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and Mus'ab acceptance into the religion of Islam. He was well respected by the Muslims, and though he no longer looked like his sartorial self in the past after his mother cut off all wealth from him, Mus'ab's was contented as a Muslim. Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in one of his gatherings told the Muslims that Islam would be victorious even as far as Persia and Byzantium. He also said that the wealth of the Muslims will be such that one would be dressed differently from morning and evening, as well as how one would have different meals of the day. But would that be really better for the Muslims?

Companions of the Prophet
Here are stories of the sahabah, the companions of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessing be upon him. Get to know the sahabah by names and as individuals who faced trials and triumph as early Muslims who had lived among the Prophet. This is from the work of the late AbdulWahid Hamid who had helped to translate from Arabic sources and made them available to us in the English language. The 2-volume books, with 30 sahabah's stories in each volume, are from MELS publication but last I heard, they are out of print, wallahualam. This is my second podcast after the series '365 days with the Prophet Muhammad', a children's story book by the author Nurdan Damla. The podcast is now almost ending. I am the same sister Rahimah from Singapore who recorded that podcast with her cat in her bedroom. So occasionally you get to hear him too:) May God forgives me for any wrongdoing or mistakes which is unintentional that is made for this podcast, anything bad is from me and shaitan and all that is good is from Allah Azzawajal only. Happy listening. You can find more work from me at www.blessedknowledge.com (in the making)
