Hannah Berry is an award-winning graphic novelist, comics creator, writer, illustrator, editorial gun-for-hire and UK Comics Laureate 2019-21. In 2018 she was inducted as a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and became the slightly grander ‘Hannah Berry FRSL’. We chat to Hannah about her comics background, influences and discuss her classic and contemporary choices, as well as plenty of other things we got sidetracked with! In this episode I talk with Monty Nero. Monty has worked on games, comics, screenplays, radio plays, and novels – including Death Sentence London with Martin Simmonds for Titan Comics, The X-men and Hulk for Marvel, and Hollow Monsters, a creator-owned project, which was started on the Masters course at the University of Dundee. He also talks about his new project, Frenemies, which was co-created with Yishan Li.

In this episode, broadcast to coincide with the launch of the Dundee branch of Laydeez Do Comics (https://www.facebook.com/laydeezdocomicsdundee), I interviewed Nicola Streeten. Nicola is an anthropologist-turned-illustrator and comics scholar. She is the author of Billy, Me & You (Myriad, 2011), an acclaimed graphic memoir about her bereavement following the death of her two-year old son. It was initially serialised in Liquorice Magazine, a comic Nicola produced with her daughter, and it received Highly Commended in the Popular Medicine category of the 2012 British Medical Association Medical Book Awards. Nicola is also co-editor with Cath Tate of The Inking Woman, published by Myriad in March 2018.

In this episode I chat to David Robertson who runs Fred Egg Comics, and is a member of the 'That Comic Smell' podcast team. I also chat to Ian Wheeler, current Comic Scene writer, and the creator of the fondly regarded Eagle Flies Again fanzine. Ian has recently been published in Doctor Who Magazine, issue 536.
