Just as David danced before the Lord, we see Jesus become vulnerable as He takes off His outer coat to wash His disciples' feet. Like David, Jesus also knows He is chosen and loved and that He has an audience of One - His Father. Joy is found as He shares that intimate moment with others.

In Mark 4:26-34, Jesus shares two parables about how His kingdom grows mysteriously, progressively, and expansively. God is at work in us whether we see it or not. But He invites us to not only invite Him to grow us, but to be a part of His growth plan for others.

The Spirit helps us to pray in Jesus' name, with Jesus' heart, and in Jesus' love. The Spirit is our Guide to help us see how God is at work and why God is doing or not doing what we ask in prayer. The Spirit invites us to be actively and audaciously inviting God to work through our prayers.

Speaking this Sabbath is our Lead Pastor. In Matthew 21, Jesus tells the parable of the tenants. This parable highlights how the religious leaders are going to reject and kill Jesus. But, this rejection will result in Jesus dying for the sins of the world and becoming the cornerstone for His kingdom. Jesus demonstrates humility & invites us to learn from Him. Jesus' humility is foundational for us and our faith, our transformation, and our future.

In the parable of the prodigal son, we get insight into how good He is; He defies all expectations as He gives graciously, joyously, and generously. As we come to understand how much God gives us, we are able to deal with many of the addictions, fears, and stressors in our lives.

This sounds scary, but in 1 John 4, John helps us understand how to distinguish between true & false spirits so we do not need to fear. As we see God's glory, we worship Him for His love for us; as we worship Him, we are moved to work and grow together. However, this is never easy as we are waging war against spiritual forces. Yet God's Spirit invites us into this battle.

However, in His death, Jesus also showed us why we need to die to our old self. It doesn't work if we don't. As Jesus washed His disciples' feet, He invited them to see that real power is found in humble service, and that is where we find real love too.

Which of the two types are you, and what is Jesus' response, you ask? Jesus always sees beyond what we can.

In Romans 7-8, Paul invites us to the freedom of knowing we are chosen as a child of God. Being chosen frees me from condemnation, from slavery to sin, and from anxiety.

Speaking this Sabbath is our Lead Pastor. When Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well, it is not random. Jesus has come to make her a disciple-maker. But first, she needs to recognize the truth about herself and God. Jesus invites her to step back and see she is in trouble; He can act for her. He does this by speaking a prophetic word to her. Now she believes in Jesus and He pours His living water into her. She becomes a disciple-maker.

Speaking this Sabbath is our Lead Pastor. Many of us have experienced rejection. So does Jesus. But His rejection leads to abundant life for me as, following His resurrection, Jesus pours out His Spirit on His followers. In John 3, Jesus invites Nicodemus to a powerful life: not to moderation, but to be born again; not good advice, but good news; and not a claim to my spiritual life, but to my whole life.

In the story of Lazarus, we see how much Jesus loves His children, but we also see how the Holy Spirit helps us understand what God's love looks like, even as Jesus allows one of His best friends to die. We see the intimacy of the Godhead. We see how we can have faith even when we can't see, and we are invited into deeper feelings and emotions, even when it is risky, as we experience God's heart for us.

This week's message explores how real forgiveness costs us something, but gives us back even more: peace, freedom, and healing. We'll talk about what forgiveness is - and isn't - and how God meets us in the hard, holy middle of it all.
