For the 4th episode of Coffee Insights, WAC welcomed Mr Parit Wacharasindhu – founder of Startdee; an education start-up company that uses technology to give high quality and affordable education to students. The company was also dubbed as the Netflix of education by The Bangkok Post. Previously, Mr Parit graduated from the University of Oxford and worked as a consultant at Mckinsey & Company before venturing into a political career serving the Thailand Democrat Party. In today’s episode, Mr Parit discussed on the socioeconomic issues arising in the education sector due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This unforeseen circumstance forced the exponential rise of educators adopting an online learning model.

Bringing to you our third episode, titled “The Storm Clears: Moving Forward as ASEAN” we are joined by Ms Anwita Basu, a fellow alumnus from Warwick! Ms Basu possesses a wealth of experience in the fields of microeconomics and policy-making analysis across ASEAN countries, including Thailand and Indonesia. She is currently the head of Asia Country risk solutions at Finsolutions in Singapore.

As we approach the last quarter of 2020, it has also been 6 months since ASEAN has felt the full effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Watch on, as Ms Anwita shares with us some of her insights on how well these countries are emerging from the ongoing economic slump.

For our second episode, titled “Surviving the Storm: Rebooting • Restructuring • Reconnecting” we are joined by Mr James Dauman. Mr Dauman possesses a wealth of experience across both the Western and Eastern hemispheres, specialising in private equity (PE) and sustainable investments in particular. The discussion primarily centres on the outlook of the private equity industry amidst the global pandemic, while touching on the possible opportunities one can partake in to support the less fortunate community in Nepal. 

For our first episode, titled “Same Storm, Different Ships” we are joined by the director of Singapore’s Maritime Institute – Dr Sanjay Kuttan. The discussion primarily focuses on the oil and gas industry, as well as the sustainability agenda within the ASEAN region coupled with the measures the region should take to combat climate change.
