It's time to dive into a new book! This month we're reading Gild by Raven Kennedy and this week we're reading chapters 1-8. This week we meet our main character, Auren, who has a very particular circumstance - she's completely dusted in gold, and lives in a gilded cage with the man who put her there, King Midas. But here's the twist - she loves him and apparently he loves her too, even though he's married to the Queen and even though he has a ton of servants whose sole responsibility is being available for sex whenever he wants. Yet for some reason, Auren loves him and wants to please him - but this week, Midas goes too far, and promises a night with Auren to a neighboring King to have access to his army. Auren has to rectify the man she loves with this King of ambition, and it sucks for her!
It's our last week with When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A Parker, and this week we're finishing it off with chapters 74 to the epilogue! In this thrilling conclusion, we get some spice as Raeve and Kaan finally get close, but then he forces her to make some hard choices. We FINALLY figure out who the Other is....we think.....and we momentarily actually have the hots for Rekk Zharos.............it's a problem......but bonus? We don't hate the ending, and there's no heartbreaking cliffhanger for us!
It's week 4 with When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker and we're discussing chapters 51 to 73. This week, Raeve sees another side of the Burn - mainly that they like Kaan. Kaan takes things fast and furious with her then ghosts for 30 days. Veya is going on a scary mission that seems insane. Kaan comes back and takes things 2 fast 2 furious again.
It's week 3 with our novel, When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker, and this week we're reading chapters 35-50. In this episode, we finally get a bit of spice! However, it doesn't go as far as we want it to go. We also get a weird ritual where 2 dudes fight for Raeve's hand, but she doesn't like it and wants to fight for her own instead. We go to Khan's kingdom and meet his buddies, and we also, finally, finally get some answers about Elluin and who Khan thinks Raeve really is (hint....it has to do with Elluin!!!!)
It's week 2 of reading "When the Moon Hatched" by Sarah A. Parker, and we're reading chapters 17-34. This week, Raeve deals with the consequences of the "others'" actions and is sentenced to death by dragon. She is also confused when the nice-smelling guy heals her and eventually saves her! She keeps trying to convince him to let her go, but he doesn't want to and is hell-bent on keeping her safe. What are his alternative motives? We have a lot of theories on that!
It's week one with our new book, When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker, and this week we're reading chapters 1-16. This week, we meet our main character, Raeve, who lives on the wrong side of the tracks and fights against the oppression that poor ppl face in her kingdom. She kills men and has fun with it - but she meets one guy and she can smell him...so you know what that means! An orphan she took in is collateral damage, and she lets her alter ego take over and kills a bunch more people for revenge before being apprehended by the king's guard. She's real mad about it, too!
It's our last week reading The Songbird and the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent, and this week we're finishing off the book with chapters 34 to the end! This week we finally get what we've been after the whole book...spice! Mischa finally knows what love feels like but it is almost immediately ruined by Atroxus. In order to save her loved ones she has to make an impossible bargain, but Asar has his own deals to make. They find the last relic and have to complete the ritual, but do they have what it takes to do what needs to be done and possibly be separated forever? They do not....and we'll talk about it!
It's week 3 with The Songbird and the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent, and this week we're reading chapters 24-33. This week, Mische gets in trouble in the Underworld when she finds out who Chandra is and why she was in Morthryn. Elias is a sneaky boy, and Mische comes face to ghost face with her maker, and it isn't pretty. Plus....we have strong questions about how ghosts bathe with real water, but they eat and drink fake food.......make it make sense!!! Oh, and there are more relics and ruins and stuff, too.
It's week 2 reading The Songbird and the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent and this week we're reading chapters 10-23. This week, Mische and the crew get attacked by a skeleton fire bird and Asar and Mische get closer.....apparently he smells special and she doesn't get it *eyeroll*. They keep going through the descent to get more relics and they keep running into dead people they know who hate them. They also keep getting hurt and it's a problem. Lastly....THEY KEEP FALLING OFF LEDGES....WHY????
It's a new month, so we have a new book! This month, we're reading The Songbird and the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent, the third book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series. This week we're reading chapters 1-9. In this episode, we get reacquainted with Mische, the plucky, bubbly vampire who has a dark past. She is captured by the Shadowborn vampire royals after she killed their Prince - her maker, and instead of killing her, the unwanted son takes her on a perilous mission to the underworld instead. The issue, though, is that the God that she pledged her life to has just brought her back into his good graces, with the promise that she will fulfill a dangerous mission in the underworld - to kill a God. We also talk about a lot of stuff....
It's our last week reading Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, and we're finishing off with chapters 44 to the end. This week, we finally find out what OOphelia's biggest fear is...and it isn't at all what we expected. Of course, Blackwell saved her from herself. They have some more hot times, and Ophelia finally finds her sister and then sends her away immediately, which makes us question, what was the point? Then Ophelia finally takes on the 8th level, and she comes face to face with the ruler of Phantasma and has to figure out how to save Blackwell and their relationship!
It's week 4 reading Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, and this week we're reading chapters 33-43. In this week's episode, Ophelia and Blackwell continue their hot physical relationship....but they both have some moments where they try to pull away from each other....which is not hot.....on top of all that, Ophelia is still trying to survive the trials of Phantasma where Cade is all up in her grill trying to kill her! And also, this demon Sinclair gets involved, and he's super rude, too!
It's week 3 with Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, and this week we're reading chapters 23-32! This week, Ophelia deals with the ramifications of her deal with Blackwell......aka sexy times! She goes through a couple more trials and makes it out with injuries but more suspicions from Cade that she's not human (she is but has more power than expected) and she also learns why her sister was searching for Gabriel and who this really is, all while getting the feels for Blackwell when she knows he's dead and they could never work!
It's week 2 with Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, and we're reading chapters 13-22. This week, Ophelia gets closer to Blackwell in more ways than one. She goes through two levels of Phantasma and has a super embarrassing moment during one of them. She also has to deal with the house itself and all the dangers it wants to let loose on her, in addition to her fellow housemates, who also seem hellbent on killing her! Why does everyone want to kill her?? Our theories about who Blackwell really is continue to reach a ridiculous level.
It's week one with our new read, Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, and we're reading chapters 1-12! This week, we meet our FMC Ophelia, who has a unique family legacy....she's a necromancer, and it's up to her now to carry on in her mother's footsteps since she died. The only problem is, her mother left Ophelia and her sister in debt, and they are going to lose their house! If only there were a magical haunted house contest where if you win, you get a prize from a devil, and a handsome phantom who wants to help you win!
It's our last week with A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle J Jensen, and we're finishing off chapters 28-36. This week, Freya tries to grow a backbone, but Snorri is just too good. Freya's brother is still dumb, and everyone thinks she's a monster. Harald comes by with an offer Freya can't refuse, but she does anyway, and she finally makes a decent decision with Bjorn until it all comes crashing down in a cave with a hot spring.
It's week 3 with A Fate Inked In Blood by Danielle J Jensen, and this week we're reading chapters 19-27! This week, Freya meets the King of Nordeland for the first time and does a ceremony that all the gods show up to - Snorri is of course a terrible person about it. We get some spice, finally! But it's to keep Freya from being kidnapped, so does it count? Freya also buys into some of Snorri's shit, which concerns Bjorn.
It's week 2 with A Fate Inked In Blood by Danielle J Jensen, and this week we're reading chapters 11-18! This week, Freya has to learn her place as the second wife of Jarl Snorri and how the gods plan to test her worthiness. She goes on a pilgrimage with Snorri and crew to a sacred temple to learn if the gods favour her, and sure enough, we get some Lord of the Rings-inspired content where she and Bjorn go under the mountain to avoid detection. She also kills a bunch of undead dudes, and people are impressed. She makes her offering and meets the famed enemy of Skaland, King Harald...who's actually not terrible!
It's week 1 with our new read, A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle J Jensen! This week we're reading chapters 1-10! This week we meet Freya, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to a guy who's the worst, and she also has a secret.....that we discover almost immediately....she meets some random hot guy by hitting him in the face with a fish because he was randomly standing in the water? And he had a horse waiting nearby, which we found super confusing....but then she gets traded to a different guy to marry him, and he's also the worst! All the while they threaten her family, who aren't great either, and she just puts up with it all........it's unfortunate.
It's our last week with Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas and this week we're reading chapters 109 - 121. This week, we finally see how Aelin and crew are going to defeat Erawan and Maeve and the hundred thousand soldiers that they had with them. Then we literally get every single character's POV on what went down with Erawan and Maeve (Fenrys for the win, but no one talks about it) and then several goodbyes and endings before we finally finish the longest book we've attempted on this show!
