How do we recompense and value time and contribution?

"For a huge majority of people who I have worked alongside over several years of doing this, it has been about wanting to be heard, wanting to make the change, being part of that change and using what's happened to them, to their family members, or people they know to feed into that and make the change for others so that doesn't happen again, or does if it was positive. We have these conversations about payment and cash and vouchers and all of this kind of stuff, but most of the people I have spoken to are kind of like I don't care about that, that's not what I am doing it for, you know, I just want to be valued and heard…" The focus of this month's Conversation on Co-production was how we recompense and value co-production participants' time and contribution. We discussed what 'value' looks and feels like to different individuals, examples of how organisations recompense participation, and the reasons why people with lived experience may want to get involved in co-production.
