This week, Elyse and Laurent explore the lived experience of the "multi-hypnenate". In a small diversion from their standard design-oriented interviews, your hosts sit down this week with friend and fellow artist Ari Tibi.
Ari Tibi grew up in a family of artists where art and business intertwined, so creativity has always been both her right and left hand. Music in particular is the language and center of it all — Ari plays six instruments (ten if you include bass and drums, poorly), tours as a hired gun on occasion, and dedicated most of her 20s to a female folk project called Luci.
This year, Ari released the first two songs from her solo project, fully self-produced — Visions and Synesthesia are both colorful, soulful, and a little bit weird in the best way. In the last few years Ari saw two original songs placed in TV and commercial spots, and at the top of 2025 went on her first solo tour with friend and mentor, Josh Radnor.
Outside of her own artistry, Ari has found a passion in music journalism — interviewing and writing about artists she admires. Her creative balancing act also includes acting in commercials with brands like Etsy, Skechers, AT&T and more. All in, Ari follows the muse, wherever it calls from.
In this episode, Ari discusses the creative process, her personal exploration of expression and all its' outlets, how to create a creative space and flow through her home, and how she finds inspiration through synethesia, her colorful view of the world around her.
This episode was filmed on-location at the Kimberly Denman Showroom in Koreatown, Los Angeles, CA
