Today's text is from II Samuel 6:1-5, 14-19; Time of Action: about 1004 B.C.; Place of Action: Gibeah and Jerusalem Golden Text: “And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals” (II Samuel 6:5).
The obscurity of the ark, during the reign of Saul, had been as great a grievance to Israel as the insults and defeat at the hands of the Philistines. David, having humbled the Philistines by defeating them on two different occasions now felt the need to bring the Ark of the Covenant to the city of David, Jerusalem, so that it would be near him, and also be an ornament and strength to his new capital city.
This verse says “And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.” Once the Ark of God had finally arrived in Jerusalem and placed in the Tabernacle that “David” had prepared for it (see I Chronicles 16:1), all the musicians played their instruments

This week's lesson speaks of how to give God's way and not our own way. Alms is the act of righteousness, good deeds, acts of mercy and compassion.
We are told to give to others out of devotion to the Lord, not to impress people. Give financially and share with the needy.
The lesson also speaks about how to pray. We pray to our Father which is in secret and He will reward us openly. We are to pray in our private rooms. God knows what we need even before we ask Him for anything. Therefore we do not have to pray long pretentious prayers just to be heard by others.
God does not want us to show off. We are to trust Him at all times.
Father God we trust You at all times and we are so thankful that You hear and answer our prayers. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Single-Minded Obedience
Bible Basis: Matthew 4:1-11
Bible Truth: Jesus resists temptation by relying on the Word of God.

This week's lesson is about how Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Spirit of God after his baptism.
Jesus had fasted 40 days and 40 nights and was hungry. Satan told him to turn the stones into bread so that he could eat, but Jesus told Satan that man shall not live by bread alone but by the word of God.
The devil took Jesus into the holy city, set him upon the temple and told him to cast himself down and the angels would bear him up. Jesus told Satan not to tempt the Lord God.
The devil took Jesus into a high mountain and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world and told him that he'd give them to him if he would worship him. Jesus told Satan that we should worship God only. The devil left Jesus and the angels came and ministered unto him.
When we are tempted by Satan we must remember to obey and follow God's rules. We are to worship God and not obey Satan.
Father God, we know to worship and obey You. Thank You that we do not have to fear and obey Satan. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Solomon’s Blessing Bible Basis: 1 Kings 8:54-61
Bible Truth: Solomon blesses God’s people and exhorts them to continue obeying God.

This week's lesson is of Solomon's benediction to the Israelites after his prayer. He expressed his praise to God for his blessings to Israel. He asked God to continue to less Israel and himself as king.
Solomon told the Israelites that God has always kept his promises to his people and that He would keep his promises to them. The blessings and privileges the Lord graciously provides require obedience on the part of his people.
Read the main thought again verse 58. We must walk in God's ways. Solomon spoke of the desire that Israel will be a witness to all other nations of the world.
We must honor God with praise and thanksgiving. Our lifestyles should be consistent in His ways, will and word.
