Often times what keeps us faithfully following Christ is not what we see but what we don't see. Looking forward to future grace and hope is what grounds us to be faithful followers in the present.

Throughout the story of God's people, the wilderness is used in various ways. Sometimes to prepare, sometimes to punish, sometimes to proclaim; but always for the purpose of bringing God's people closer to himself. 

As Christians who live in the world, we are constantly pulled between two kingdoms. Every day we are confronted with the choice of which kingdom we will choose: the kingdom of the world, or the kingdom of heaven.

Oftentimes our culture and even other believers call us to listen to our feelings as the final say on our reality. Jesus calls his followers to a deep and lasting joy that transcends the emotions of the moment.
