ABOUT THE SHOWRUNNER:

My name is Kenneth Vigue, author and narrator of this podcast. Growing up my grandmother would take me to the library in the town where I grew up every weekend. One fateful day, I ventured out of the children's room and headed up the massive Victorian staircase to the upstairs. I was awestruck by the 3-level open space, surrounded with balconies filled with books. In one cornered I wandered up to the very top level and found a dark and dusty corner room. It was filled floor to ceiling with records, which I had never seen before. I checked out "Lights Out: Murder Castle", a vintage radio horror. So began a lifelong love of the kind of audio wizardry that could be cooked up with sound long, long before television. It required an active imagination, and it cultivated it in turn.

Podcasting today has given new life to this vintage auditory art form, with groundbreaking shows such as "The NoSleep Podcast", "Limetown" and "The Black Tapes" being modern versions of classic radio drama.

With this podcast, 3 of my great loves have come together into some kind of mutated concoction of sound. My hope is to see more Fallout fans getting creative, sharing their passion and building on this amazing universe.

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
SPIN-OFF SERIES IS LIVE - "Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story Episodes 1 & 2"

This is Kenneth Vigue and I am recording this just one day after a visit to Zenimax’s Austin, Texas office, the very place that Fallout 76 was born. I also finally met my dear friend and yours Wes Johnson and y’all...there were tears to be had. The office was amazing, as were the developers I met and after signing an NDA I strolled on through, looking into the future. It was an amazing visit, made all the more amazing by one fact: in the developer lobby were tv screen cycling through different scenes. On one monitor playing was our live show from Bethesda Game Days, our season 1 finale. After asking about it, I was told that they cycle community content on the tv for the devs – so they can see the ways in which the community plays and creates in their world. I think that’s as amazing as it humbling. This has been a journey I’ve been blessed by.

But right now, today I want to tell you about two of my best friends starting their own journey. Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story, an official spin-off series of our show is now live. The first two episodes I’m dropping in my feed hoping you’ll give it a listen and then find them on Spotify and Apple Podcast and give them a follow and a download. That really helps them get started. The story is exceptionally well written by Matthew Bartlett and Philip Lonidier with a wraparound that I’ve been writing...yes don’t worry, I’m still doing plenty of that.

This story is set parallel to our own and it opens during the Battle for Appalachia before they take us back to Year 1, back to Reclamation Day as you discover a new band of post apocalyptic misfits. I hope you’ll give it a listen and keep listening because something very important happens, something they cause – a butterfly’s wings, a pebble dropped in a pond...something that happens right here has had unintended consequences all along for Chad and the gang. But more importantly, something Mr. Dark noticed in Xander Nash, the character you met this past Halloween has him very, very concerned. This podcast and ours will meet back up in the future in our season 4 with an ending you won’t see coming.

Now, the casts of Appalachia A Fallout 76 Story and CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story invite you to cordially attend The End...and the Beginning or to put it another way, the Alpha and the Omega...

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
BONUS: Halloween Scares Trick or Treating Soundscapes!
Looking for a little Fallout to create horror by your door for trick or treaking? Richard Loftus, our new editor and producer who will be helping me get things done faster, created a series of Halloween soundscapes. Growing up I have memories of that ratty old orange cassette tape blasting out our windows for trick or treaters, so I had an idea for us to create the first Fallout 76 trick or treating soundscapes to bring the horrors of Appalachia to your street and home. I'm incredibly proud of what he's created and as you'll hear, he is incredibly skilled at telling stories with audio. Here's a link to download these tracks to have without commentary for you to do whatever you'd like with. It's our gift to you all and the community!

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
S2E18: Vault-Tec Rises! Part 2 (with Pete Hines)

In a single day, Appalachia's peacekeepers and independent forces have fallen. The Five-0 New Responders HQ is in ruins, the radio station is empty, mindlessly looping songs and the Overseer is missing. And yet, for Wastelanders and Raiders alike they are rolling into the region to lay down roots of their own, no matter how unintended the consequences of that action may be. The Enclave have arrived from Raven Rock and are squeezing the Judge to get things back under control, little knowing that in a single stroke he now has the power to reset the board. Sanctuary Acres awaits...and this is the story of how they all ended up there.

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
S2E18: Vault-Tec Rises! Part 1 (with Pete Hines)

ZAX has been destroyed, but not before alerting the Enclave that things are far from under control in Appalachia. As Wastelands and Raiders alike start to return to the region seeking a lost treasure, threats from within and without threaten to unravel a grand experiment almost half a century in the making. Out of options, the Judge places a long-distance phone call to the Capital Wasteland that will have shocking repercussions for everyone. Unknown to him, something has awoken from that very place and is moving swiftly towards them.

War is here. The first shots have been fired, as if notes in a Dark symphony carefully planned.

Vault-Tec proudly presents, "Let's Go to War!"

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
S2E17: Meanwhile in Nuclear Winter (with Jake Green and Ferret Baudoin) - Part 2

In the wee hours of the morning following the Rusty Pick Grand Opening, a poker game is interrupted from a threat from above. As Chad and Roper race against time as ZAX gains access to a larger network, Commander Johns fights for his life inside the Nuclear Winter Simulation in Vault 51. The sun is setting and before this final match is through, winning will come at a great cost.

These episodes are in loving memory to long time Bethesda Game Studios developer Ferret Baudoin, who recorded his lines prior to his untimely passing. His family has graciously allowed us to use them posthumously and it is fitting that in these episodes he will save the day, one last time.

The remainder of our season ad revenue from these episodes will be benefiting the global crisis and humanitarian work of Project Hope. Please support our fundraiser: https://donate.tiltify.com/+fallout-for-hope-ukrainerelief/chad-a-fallout-76-story-podcast

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
S2E15: Rusty Pick Raiders, Sugar Grove Secrets (with Ferret Baudoin, Pete Hines, Neil Kaplan, Chris Ciulla, and Lady Devann)

After decades of abandonment, the neon lights are glowing at the Rusty Pick tavern as Chad's gang hosts a grand reopening celebration. As new faces drift through the crowd, outsiders have come in search of the "Treasure of Appalachia" and one group will stumble upon something far more valuable. Elsewhere Commander Johns and Charles Bishop still are hunting for Hugo Warren, their trail ending at Sugar Grove. With the help of an old ally, they uncover dark secrets that raise even more questions about Project Lazarus and the Appalachia Experiment. The Judge is on the move, about to fire the first shot that will mark the beginning of the Battle for Appalachia. The board is set, the pieces are in place. It all starts now.

CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story
S2E14: A Fallout Christmas Story LIVE - Aired Dec. 16th, 2022 (with Wes Johnson, Pete Hines and some of the voice actors of Fallout 3, 4 and 76!)

The holidays have returned to Appalachia and with it, a dusty band of wandering performers led by the enigmatic, yet haunted Lord Alastair Olivier (Wes Johnson). Still changed in spirit since performing, "A Christmas Carol" last year, a heart once cold has begun to thaw and with it comes the terrible yearning to recapture a lost memory. A rare collaboration from the factions in the region has resulted in the rebuilding of WSAZ-TV, West Virginia's first television. A lost holiday classic is about to be recreated and broadcast...but sometimes nostalgia can be a trap.

Staged as part of the Fallout For Hope charity drive to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, we are joined by Bethesda's Pete Hines with the who's who of video game voice actors from Fallout 3, 4 and 76 and beyond.

EDITOR'S NOTE: As this was performed live via the Internet, in some spots audio quality isn't our usual standard, and we hope you'll forgive it.
