Black Bag

This week, Thomas and Colin watch the 2025 American spy thriller film, Black Bag.
Thomas picks his day to be peopled in Salamanca: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salamanca_Market
Colin displays his deep botanical expertise by explaining how Tomato Plants lose their will to live. He also faces one of his greatest fears!

SOD OFF definition and meaning | Collins English Dictionary
verb (intr, adverb; usually imperative) slang, mainly British to go away; depart. USAGE The phrase sod off was formerly considered to be vulgar and even taboo.

This week, Thomas and Colin watch the 2013 American action horror film, World War Z.
Thomas abandons his long affinity towards Blaseball, for its lesser-known knock-off. Colin gets a statistical and "World Series" bee in his bonnet. He also demonstrates his vast knowledge as to the source of infectious diseases.

Under Siege

This week, Thomas and Colin watch the 1992 action thriller film, Under Siege.
Thomas talks about crazy times (A reminder that here in Oz, the "Liberal" Party is our major "Conservative" Party, and the Labor (yes, without a U) Party is our Major "Progressive" Party - although one could argue that there has certainly been a blurring of the lines of late!) His writing has been blocked, and finds a scapegoat. Colin is a writer, he's a fighter, he's a sometimes grinner - and he plays his music in the sun. He has Google Photos woes.

It was the character Tackman that seemed to Colin to appear out of nowhere. Looking at the original screenplay it appears most of his early scenes were cut.

TACKMAN All of what? . I do laundry.. I was ironing during the gulf war. I'm not cut out for this hero s•••.

The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift

This week, Thomas and Colin watch the 2006 action film, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Thomas gets lost in the Northern Suburbs. Colin discovers muscles he never knew he had, and the pair may or may not have had cake - for extra-special reasons they totally fail to disclose! Colin loses his left kidney.

According to movie-locations.com, "Apart from scene-setting, though, most of the film was shot around LA. The vast garage with the spiral ramp, where Sean gets to meet all the kids, is Hawthorne Plaza Mall, Hawthorne Boulevard at 120th Street, Hawthorne, to the south of Los Angeles (those nighttime views over ‘Tokyo’ from the garage roof were added digitally)." https://movie-locations.com/movies/f/Fast-And-The-Furious-Tokyo-Drift.php
Looking at google maps, the carpark of the mall - abandoned since 1999 - is only four levels high, so although the scene WAS all filmed here (not two different carparks) there was some "playing" with carpark heights! https://maps.app.goo.gl/TkbXzhMroDMhDuc16
