MAGA Awards Peter Weaver of Bellerive Country Club had an incredible summer to finish the year as the Men’s Player of the Year. Playing in four points qualifying events, Weaver won three of them. He began the summer with the Missouri State Amateur Championship. Weaver fought his way into the final match at Payne’s Valley Golf Course, where he would win 4 & 2 to be the Champion. He then played in the U.S. Amateur Qualifier, in which he played well enough to earn the second alternate spot. He followed up the state championship win nearly a month later with the St. Louis District Golf Association Griesedick Men’s Championship at Glen Echo Country Club. For a second time, Weaver showed he could contend in a match-play event by winning on the 22nd hole and earning another Champion title. Of course, his summer would not be complete without proving that he could also get it done in stroke-play. Weaver shot three rounds under par at Persimmon Woods Golf Club to hold off his competition by one-stroke at the Metropolitan Amateur Championship. Rounding out his summer as the Metropolitan Amateur Champion, Weaver earned the points to sit at the top of the Player of the Year standings.    Paul Neeman of Persimmon Woods Golf Club played some great golf over the summer to be the Senior Men’s Player of the Year. He started the year by battling his way to a runner-up finish in the Old Warson Cup, followed by a tied for fourth finish in the East Side Amateur Senior Division. Neeman’s next best finishes of the summer came from a T-4 finish in the Metropolitan Four-Ball with his partner Brian Hall and a T-5 finish in the Cassett Senior Championship. Racking up all of these points, he was not quite finished. At the end of July, Neeman won the City Championship with a score of six-under par. A month later, Neeman took a three-stroke lead in the Metropolitan Senior Amateur Championship at St. Clair Country Club to win the championship and leap to the top of the Senior Player of the Year leaderboard.

Curt Goss tells us about his fantastic trip over the pond to Ireland and Northern Ireland which included golf at some of the most famous courses in the world. We recap the Metropolitan Sr Amateur conducted on Tuesday, August 29 at St Clair Country Club. And there is a tight race brewing in the PGA Gateway Section for Player of the Year honors. Sr. Am. Champion Paul Neeman joins the show in segment 2 to talk about his big win. Finally, we preview a few tournaments and qualifiers coming up next week. Brief discussion on the Ascension Charity Classic.

She dishes knowledge on what works for her on the golf course, and what she has in store the rest of the summer. We also take some time to preview the upcoming USGA Qualifiers - the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Sr. Amateur - that will be taking place the week of July 16. We also preview the 99th Southern Illinois Golf Association Championship being conducted in Mt. Vernon, IL. Plus, the guys have their usual fodder.

Mike Leech joins C+C to discuss the Mississippi Valley Golf Course Superintendents Association.

It's US Open week, and after an eventful first round, our USGA "Insider" Curt Rohe gives us a breakdown of what happended today at LACC and what we might see this weekend at the US Open. Mike Suhre, Head PGA Professional at Oak Brook Golf Club in Edwardsville, joins the show to talk PGA Jr League, owning and operating a family-owned 27-hole golf facility, the history of league play, and his other passion projects. We wrap the show up with a recap of friend of the show's Brooke Biermann's first round at the LPGA Meijer Classic in Grand Rapids, MI, a preview of the MAGA Jr Championship Preview, and a recap of the stroke play event conducted by the Gateway Section this week at Spencer T in Alton.

Jerome Harris, CEO & Founder of Urban Golf of Greater St. Louis joins the show to talk about the upcoming camps for urban youth at Normandie Golf Club. Camps start on June 12 with over 200 kids enrolled. Brooke Biermann (Sophomore, Michigan State) joins the program to talk about her individual and team's NCAA Regional win at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Brooke also recaps her sophomore year at Michigan State, an invitation to play in an LPGA Tour Event in Grand Rapids, MI and what she has going on this summer. Curt Rohe talks amateur series. Curt Goss talks jr golf, Drive, Chip and Putt.

The guys start the show recapping the Celebration of Life for the late, great Jay Randolph, Jr. Curt Rohe was in attendance. The guys share some of their favorite Jay stories. Korn Ferry Tour member Chris Naegel joins the guys to talk Metropolitan Open, where he shot a tournament record 62 on Day 2. Naegel has a new looper, and we talk about preparing for the US Open. Naegel will try to qualify for the US Open in Columbus on June 5. We also talk to Naegel about any run-ins he may have had with the newest social media hit Michael Block - who also hails from St. Louis. The guys spend the last segment discussing the final day of the Metropolitan Open, hosted at the Country Club of St. Albans, and put on by the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association.
