Hurricane Ike 2008
Today I discuss 2008's Hurricane Ike with my friend Brittany who experienced the storm in Houston. I give some background on the storm itself and talk briefly about a couple of other storms that influenced the Texas Gulf Coast and how that affected residents during Ike's rampage across the Caribbean, the US, and Canada. Caught In The Fury
Haysville/Andover Tornado April 26, 1991
On April 26, 1991 55 tornadoes touched down in 5 states across Tornado Alley. In today's episode, I cover the only F-5 of the outbreak that impacted Haysville and Andover, suburbs of Wichita, KS. I also talk about an F-4 tornado that hit Cowley County on the same day, which I remember, as it passed just a few miles from where my family was in shelter. I recall the aftermath of that from my personal memories, although I was not quite 5 years old.  Below I will share links to videos and articles I reference in the episode. Any mistakes are my own, and I look forward to possibly doing a second episode on this storm with some more personal stories as well as any information I can find on the victims that shed some light on who they were. I chose to read their names for several reasons. One reason being that I don't want them to be forgotten. This storm did massive damage at about half a billion dollars in today's money, but it also took fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, and children who are still missed by their families today. And it's not my intention to use them for any type of personal gain, my intention is simply to recall the very human element of this disaster.  For links to information and videos regarding this storm, please see the list below.  The Fujita Scale used in today's episode can be found here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fujita_scale A timeline of this storm can be found at the Wichita National Weather Service office's page here: https://www.weather.gov/ict/AndoverTimeline Wikipedia Article Outbreak  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andover_tornado_outbreak Jon Davies' video of this tornado: https://youtu.be/kdNImASqseM McConnell AFB: Todd Cravett's video https://youtu.be/5QK0VA_P83A Longer version https://youtu.be/qvS0BEWSbig Duke Evans video https://youtu.be/s_D4TyZxHO0 Overpass video long version:  https://youtu.be/pwoOS_HMY40 Video of Cowley Tornado https://youtu.be/MVpyLKJVmjs KWCH 30 Year Retrospect  https://www.kwch.com/2021/04/27/survivors-witnesses-look-back-30-years-to-andover-tornado/ Ksn deadliest storm https://youtu.be/pvF9L7KiIwA Story submission form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdTAcJRhIBRIC63MYsPSf0ZSehZ9EEne2H8wgz18pqNSWtvUg/viewform?usp=sf_link Thanks for listening, and catch us next time, as I talk about Hurricane Ike in 2008.

Going Green
In today's brief episode, I'm introducing myself and giving an overview of my background and what listeners can expect from future episodes. No show notes for today, since I'm not covering any events in depth. Stay tuned for Episode 1 on the Haysville/Andover Tornado of 1991 where I share my own weather story from that event.
