We've prioritized legalities over God's definition of good. It's time to sow with tears, to acknowledge our backsliding, and to cry out for a restoration of our fortunes.

Join Carter Conlon for a look back at what the first Christmas might have looked and sounded like in his 2022 Christmas special Twas The Night Before Christmas.You know there’s a poem I like to quote once in a while: Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring.. But it was not so on the first Christmas night, it wasn’t silent and it wasn’t calm. You can just imagine the people sitting and reading the scriptures thinking “where is God in all of this” then you had the zealots plotting the overthrow of the dominant culture of the day which was Rome, voices, voices, voices everywhere. It would be everything but silent.Perhaps you can identify with the amount of noise and unrest there must have been? But in the midst of all this, Carter reminds us that we can choose to place our trust in God. There can be peace, there can be calm.
If ever there was a time in America’s history that we desperately needed the people of God to stand up and cry out in prayer, the time is now! In this National Day of Prayer special, Pastor Carter Conlon suggests that there is no better time than the present to examine the posture of our hearts and our prayers.
As always, Pastor Carter speaks candidly and asks some hard questions. Questions like: “Are we willing to consider our ways, what we’ve done, and how we’ve turned from the truth and embraced lies? Have our prayers become mechanical in nature or are we having honest face-to-face conversations with God on a daily basis?”
The God of the Bible is characterized as the God who speaks. Pastor Carter reads from Isaiah chapter 30, where God is trying to speak to the rebellious people of Judah, but they didn’t want to hear what He had to say. When we run away from doing things His way, calamity will befall us but, “Only in returning to Me and resting in Me will you be saved”(verse 15).
The Good News is that God is always available to hear our cries for help. Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that we can “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” It’s time to pray.
In this special, Pastor Carter Conlon of Times Square Church suggests that in these tumultuous days the Lord is saying to us, “You are my church and you have been divided too long and I am calling you to the place where you start to recognize and appreciate one another and start to understand that none of us can do this alone. We need each other.”
Carter makes a clarion call for unity among the Body of Christ. Though we’re all very different from each other, we’re all empowered by the same Spirit. If we remain divided we are not going to have the power to stand against the darkness of these times. We must pray!
