Despite the challenges and pressures of his time, Paul remained focused on finishing the race that the Lord set before him with joy. In today’s world, where distractions and discouragement abound, this message reminds us to stay committed to the mission God has given us serving Him wholeheartedly until the very end.
Just as in the time of Isaiah, our world is riddled with war and the threats that come with it. Today, more than ever before, we find ourselves in the midst of some of the darkest times in human history. Yet in the middle of it all, there is hope, and that hope comes from only one source. It is this hope that leads us to embrace a true and unshakable biblical principle: our lives are to be marked by faith, not fear.
It is a myth to believe that God will never give us more than we can handle, because the reality is our lives are filled with circumstances that are far beyond our ability to navigate. The passage that is so often misquoted in this regard actually speaks of God’s faithfulness to provide a way of escape from sin, not the absence of overwhelming trials. The truth is that God allows us to face the impossible so that He might demonstrate His power on our behalf, making possible what is otherwise impossible. Exodus 36 gives us a vivid picture of this as the people of Israel were given a task that was far beyond their own capacity, yet by the filling and empowering of the Spirit of God the work was accomplished in a miraculous way.
War is ugly and it's even more ugly when you don't realize you're a part of it! It's time to wake up because it's only going to get worse!
