This weeks show had another guest, this time a fellow Vocal Booth Radio DJ based here in Sydney. Maurizio Marchetti plays in my old time slot on a Thursday once a month. He's a big vinyl nut collecting edits and mashups alongside choice cuts from the last 40+ years. His sets have a lot of energy often underpinned by a funky/disco vibe but you can't pigeon hole that easily as you'll hear in this mix. We went all over on this one.He grew up in London and so was exposed to the same house culture I was. We both share a love so for many of the same sounds, sub genres, labels, artists.He's a regular resident DJ for Boogie Wonderland, one of the most successful nights in Sydney and Maurizio has put down so many now legendary sets that get the crowd and especially the ladies very excited. I also played alongside him as part of another local collective Larry's Herd. We've done a few b2b gigs over the last couple of years. It's always fun to play alongside him because of the breadth and depth of his sound and knowledge.He came to this mix intent on playing gems I might not have. Happy to say he failed for the most part, but I don't have any of his mashups, he got me on those.This show was so fun to do. Maurizio played for the first hour and came out like the rabbit in a greyhound race! Then for the second hour we went b2b. We each had our own deck, so it was one record each - vinyl. Really living on the edge! You can't plan ahead because you don't know what the other person is gonna play. You then have three minutes tops to rummage, choose, "load" onto turntable, beat match, cue and drop. Believe me that's not a lot of time, especially when your vinyl isn't sorted!! This mix is just an open digital crate digging session, no theme just great music. A real mix of two halves, the first being deep soulful house from both sides of the pond. This week I was joined by local DJ Terry A (Anastasiadis). Got into the scene in the mid 90's and carried on spinning tunes until the mid 00's. Terry is one of the DJs playing at my upcoming 90's Classics boat party on November 16th in the afternoon and the world famous Sydney Harbour. As you'll hear Terry brings that awesome US sound synonymous with that era.The clocks had changed over the prior weekend which meant the show started an hour later in order to maintain the same UK start. Unfortunately I forgot and so we started an hour early and had to play for three hours. Terry didn't bring enough vinyl for such a long set. It was almost all used up in his first 90 minute solo. So for the last half of the mix he was rummaging through my collection which let's just say could be a little better organised!!So many great tracks in this mix I guarantee you won't have heard for years. This is a test run for a requested mix from my mate Martin Evans in the UK. He's a MASSIVE soulful vocal nut. He's always telling me I need more vocals in my set, especially female. One day last August while chatting he started sending you-tube links to his favourite tunes and challenged me to make a mix with them. I agreed and then kept forgetting. A year later I finally bought the tracks, I only had a few of them.For last night's show I thought I'd give them a test run. I hadn't listened to them so didn't know how much energy they had to know where they would sound best in the mix. I nearly always have a rough idea even if I've only just bought something, but with these ones I was going in totally blind with the mindset that this would never see the light of day!During the show the chatroom was loving the tunes, they are classics in the soulful vocal scene. Martin was in the chatroom making full use of all the positive emojis.I recorded the show so I could listen and get a better feel for the flow, which I still intend to do one day. In the meantime I'm sharing this version for all you soulful vocal boys & girls to enjoy, despite it being a demo. I couldn't find the tracks he asked for that I already had, with a couple of exceptions so I had to improvise the last 20 minutes, but tried to chose quality product.What are your thoughts? The next instalment in the monthly series. This time we comb through tracks acquired in the month of September all the way back to 2005.This mix is a nice mellow melodic journey without any of the usual crazies. It was interesting because there really weren't many big anthems, monsters or beasts. This doesn't happen very often, in fact this is a first. For this weeks radio show I played the set from the Sydney House Dance Battle. However that's only 90 minutes long and the show is two hours, so this mix has 30 minutes of extra music.I'll be honest every time I heard the original mix I was left wanting more when it ended with Jesus Creates A Sound. Well I've answered my own wish!!The songs in the last 30 minutes are heavyweights in their respective sub genres. Like Mike Tyson heavyweights.I'm not sure anyone will listen to the original mix now as it's almost identical but shorter. There are some subtle differences in the transitions though. Most notably Heaven and Jesus Creates A Sound. I'll be honest the original mix has much more intensity in that transition. Horses for courses I guess. This is my 300th Podcast release!!!!!It's been coming for what feels like years now, but we made.  I can't I've released this many mixes over the last 20 years.If you were to play them all b2b without stopping it would take you over 21 days!!!  I owe so much to you guys for your ongoing support. I've been trying to get Tony Garcia on my radio show for the whole of 2025 and after eight months we got there. Originally recorded at the end of July but missed the release window.This mix has a nice healthy dose of garage in the centre, but the last third is just straight up fire. Where do we start with this one. Started off as a regular guest mix show with Emma (aka em_laa) who previously appeared on the show back at the start of the year.However we were having so much fun that when we cut the feed for the radio we carried on for another 2hrs. Yes that's right this is an almost four hour mix.And I can tell you it's chock full of sexy smooth deep house and soulful house goodness. It's hard to tell who is playing at any given time, unless you know our sound and music collections really well.Unfortunately this mix is so long there is very little chance of me being able to do a tracklist!! This mix marks the start of a new series - Back To - in which I dedicate a whole show to a specific year.  It's not the first time I've done it.  There are three or four such mixes from the old Pressure Radio days.  The different this time is consistency.  You see I didn't have any theme for the one of my weekly slots.  We already have a new mix, crate digging, a guest DJ and now going forward we'll have a Back To.  I can go all the way back to 1990 which gives us 37 months before we repeat a year!!We kick the series off with 2005 which was chosen by Dave Miller Lawson (DML) and what a great choice it was.You see 2005 is a pretty significant year. It's the year most DJs made the switch from vinyl to digital, me included. The first six months of 2005 was all vinyl for me. Then around the time I got married in June I treated myself to a pair of Denon DNS-3000s. And with that also came my introduction to the mighty Traxsource, or Cracksource as many of us know it as.I remember reading Brian Tappert's press releases about the platform and getting so excited. You see with vinyl you bought it and had to wait for the postman. Could be days sometimes. With Traxsource you left with your music, it was a game changer. Also the price dropped considerably. I'd been paying 6.99 for a US import, sometimes 7.50. With Traxsource it was just 1.99!Suddenly you could buy so much more for the same money.This is when I stepped up to making monthly mixes, it was now affordable. I don't know what changes producers felt at the time but 2005 is regarded as one of the great years for house music. Apologies for the late arrival of the May mix.  Ironically it was recorded on April 30th's radio show, but as per you the perfectionist in me wasn't 100% happy with the flow and had intentions of re-doing later in the month which of cause didn't happen.  However the more I listened to the mix the more I fell in love with it.  Now I don't hear any issues or flaws in it!The tunes in the mix really are top shelf.  I feel I got lucky when I went shopping on TraxClart because it's rare these days to land a large number of really good tracks.I must give a nod my friend Emma who played on the show earlier in the year.  I got the first track on the mix listening to her playing a chill disco set at a swanky bar in Sydney.  I'm increasingly finding great tunes when I'm out hearing other DJs sets and Emma's tastes are right up my street so she often has me Shazamming or loitering around the decks when she's spinning.  Some of you may also spot that I included Radic The Myth's "Roses" too which featured on Emma's debut show mix.  Such a deep smooth track, incredible.I love the flow of the first few tracks especially as it was the first time I'd heard most of them.Not all of the tracks are new releases but are new to my collection.  A great example being the late Michael Watford's "Since I Met You", an absolute beast of a tune.  The last track also falls into that category - Sandee - Notice Me from 1988!  So deep, waaay ahead of it's time, still smashes a dancefloor.Other notable call outs are Groove Committee - I Want You To Know, another track I heard while out.  This time it another mate Phil Toke from Soul Of Sydney who played it while supporting Norman Jay.Lastly big shout to DJ Cinthie for putting me onto Ladymonix - Welcome 2 My House.  I love dropping that into a set and watching the reaction.I hope you agree it was the right decision to release this mix.  I've been enjoying every day for the last two months and it seemed wild that no one else could!Tracklisting:1: Gaz, The Reflex - Sing Sing (The Reflex Revision)2: Louie Vega - Another Day In My Life (Louie Vega Re-Touch)3: The Philly All Stars - Love Is the Message (Eric Kupper Remix)4: Warehousz - Warehousz - Todd Terry vs PM Dawn5: Ten City - That's The Way Love Is (Louie Vega Extended Mix)6: Dan The Drum, Stuart Patterson - UK House Sermon ft. This is a fun mix from May this year.  Just before the start of the show I thought of playing only Copyright and Liquid People music since they were both big UK producing duos of the 00's and I had a decent amount of both of their catalogue.Very much unplanned so no idea how it would turn out.  Would there be enough variation in energy to allow the mix to flow?Luckily there was bucket loads.  I wasn't initially going to release the mix as I wanted to have a go at programming a tighter set - the perfect mix.  However I haven't got round to it and this version has grown on me so I'm gonna share it with you all.For those that don't know Copyright consists of Londoner Gavin Mills (aka DJ Face) a big cheese in both the house and garage scenes in the 90's, a former hairdresser, big Japanese toy collector and now photographer.  The other half is Sam Holt who is a huge trainer nut with a BIG collection, former MD at Team Saatchi and hails from my part of the world growing up just down the M55 in Preston.  The two were introduced to each other by Matt Jam Lamont's girlfriend in the late 90's.  They ran Copyright Records, initial distributed by Soulfuric and later Defected.  They were one of the main acts on the house scene in the late 00's-early 10's travelling the world headlining for Defected.Liquid People consist of Conan Manchester and Dan Smith.  Conan aka Conan Liquid hails from Colchester in Essex, a master behind the decks as well as in the studio.  Had an early release on Strictly Rhythm in 98 under the name O.S.O.T.A. with a track called "Sunny's Theme".  Dan Smith aka Danism a Cambridge boy is the soulful side of Liquid People complimenting Conan's percussive flair.The pair came together and formed Liquid People in 1999 working out of H.O.T.H. studios in Conan's home town.  The blend of Conan's beat expertise and Dan's soulful production defines their signature groove.I tried hard to mix it up so it's not just a run on any one artist.  We played a game in the chatroom all show where you had to guess whether it was Copyright or Liquid People.  It was actually harder than you'd first imagine.As you will hear it's a real upbeat mix from the glory days of 00's house.  Some BIG tunes from both duos.The majority is on vinyl due to the age, so I was frantically flicking through my records trying to find all of their music!The mixing isn't perfect which held me back from releasing.  But if I don't release no one else can ever hear it, and it could become your favourite mix of summer, so here it is.  There is easily enough left over to make a volume 2.It was an honour to make this mix and salute two absolute legend duos of the UK house scene.  Thank you gentlemen for your contribution, your music lives on in record collections all over the world.Tracklisting:1: Liquid People - See The Stars2: Copyright - Essence Of Life3: Erm - I don't know!!!4: Copyright - Late At Night5: Liquid People ft JB Rose - Our Way6: Liquid People ft Heidi Vogel - Don't You Go Away7: Copyright pres One Track Minds ft Angie Brown - Good For You8: Copyright ft Imaani - Running9: MAW ft India - I Can't Get No Sleep (Copyright Mix)10: Sir Piers - Back When (Liquid People Mix)11: Copyright, Mr V, Miss Patty - In Da Club (Shake Sh*t Up)12: Conan Liquid - Help Me Out13: Copyright ft Tasita D'Mour - Release Yourself14: Conan Liquid - Free Like The Wind15: Copyright - Zamaleya16: Conan Liquid - Moonflower17: Copyright - Mato Grosso18: Conan Liquid - The King19: Copyright ft Imaani - Time20: Liquid People - Son Of Dragon21: Conan Liquid - Quincy's JointEnjoy!

Another special guest show and this month I'm proud to present good friend and Sydney legend DJ Dante Rivera, founder of Klubhouse and countless other Sydney events over the years.  Dante was partly responsible for my exposure to Sydney clubbers.  He was the first person to reach out post Covid to ask if I would play for Klubhouse.  That set has resulted in me playing for multiple promoters around the city.Anyone that knows Dante knows to expect ass shaking Latin House vibes all the way and he didn't dissapoint.The first hour is all Dante so expect to find yourself tapping out percussion on the steering wheel or shuffling across the kitchen to get something out of the fridge.We go b2b for the second hour, which I will admit was a stretch for me.  My Latin House is mainly European from the 00's - you can really hear the difference to Dante's authentic sounds, but that's all I have!  Hopefully it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the back nine.Anyone in the city this weekend, you can catch me a Tatler on Friday for a full takeover.  Yeah baby I got the place to myself from 9pm to 3am.  Whilst I love long sets I will be bringing in another friend Gary Ward to help out.Between us we'll be playing the finest house tunes the last 35 years have produced.Tracklist to follow.........Enjoy!

We had another special guest DJ on the show this week, DJ So Michael from Sydney.  Tried to get him on before Xmas, but you know Xmas.  So glad we didn't let it slip and so here we are.Sol is a very rare talent having started DJing at the very tender age of eight!  By 14 he was playing in Sydney's clubs warming up for the likes of Dave Lee (back when he had his cool name) no less.His Mum was a raver waaaay back in the day which exposed Sol to Acid House, Hip House and everything else going on over 35 years ago.  You will hear this influence loud and clear throughout the mix.Now age 21 Sol has a fortnightly residency at the Erko as well as playing alongside myself for Larry's Herd.  One of the highlights of his career was a recent week long residency at a Bali beach club!  I gotta me some of that action too, it looked awesome.We had a lot of fun doing the show, Sol played for the first hour followed by a little chat to get to know him a little better.  We then went b2b for the rest of the show, playing one tune each.Sol brought a box of vinyl and in the second hour every track he played was wax.  I desperately wanted to do the same.  This was a very rare chance for me to play my late 80's tunes.  Unfortunately we hit a snag, the right turntable wouldn't sit in the groove of the records.  I adjusted it so many times, but it just kept gliding.  That meant I had to play digital, which sadly only goes as far back as 91, so I was unable to follow Sol in the same sub genre.The mix doesn't rally suffer as a result.  You wouldn't have given a second thought if I hadn't said something.Have to give a big shout out to the amazing support we got during the show from Lee Sutch, Elyssa White and Sol's Mum Fee Erika.I'm playing at Tatlers this Easter weekend from 12-close.  Come on down if you're in the city.Tracklisting:tbc - need to get from Sol.
