Happy Halloween! It’s our last spoooooky episode of the season. We’ll go back to our regular bi-weekly publishing schedule after this one.
In June 1983, a 15-year-old Vatican citizen named Emanuela Orlandi left for a music lesson in Rome—and vanished without a trace. The case that followed is a mix of anonymous phone calls, alleged kidnappings, and puzzling theories ranging from terrorism to organised crime to a cover-up within the Vatican.
Join us as we trace Emanuela’s last known steps, unpack the conflicting investigations, and explore the shadowy webs of power that may lie behind one of Italy’s most haunting cold-cases.
In 1961, small-town Texas became the center of a media frenzy when 17-year-old Betty Williams asked her ex-boyfriend, John Mack Herring, to kill her—and he did. The shocking “Kiss and Kill” case exposed not only the dark side of teen romance but also how the press sensationalized tragedy, painting Betty as a wayward girl and her killer as a golden boy gone astray. Join us as we revisit the headlines, the trial that ended in acquittal, and the troubling story of how public sympathy can be shaped—and twisted—by the media.

Spooky season has officially begun—and this one’s straight out of a horror movie. In today’s episode, we’re diving into the Corpsewood Manor Murders: a case that’s equal parts eerie legend, satanic panic, and heartbreaking true crime.
Dr. Charles Scudder and Joseph Odom built their dream castle deep in the Georgia woods—a gothic escape complete with gargoyles, stained glass, and a pink “party room.” But when small-town rumors collided with fear, prejudice, and greed, the result was pure tragedy.
We’ll unpack the media frenzy that branded the victims as “gay devil worshippers,” explore the real story behind the Church of Satan, and trace how moral panic and homophobia turned two eccentric men into the villains of their own murder.

*Disclaimer* We’re talking about politics in this episode. If you don’t want to hear it, totally get it. We’ll see you at our next episode, where we'll return to our regular content.
Freedom of speech has never been simple, and in today’s climate, it’s anything but. In this episode, we look at how the First Amendment plays out in real time, from Jimmy Kimmel’s public clashes to the press’s constitutional protections. As former journalists, the First Amendment is near and dear to our hearts because without freedom of the press, there is no democracy. We revisit landmark Supreme Court decisions that define the limits of free expression, unpack what’s truly protected (and what isn’t), and explore why knowing your rights matters now more than ever.

In this episode, we cover the harrowing five-year stalking ordeal of Fort Wayne mother Dawn Hillyer, whose case exposed the failures of Indiana law to protect victims. What began as a casual connection quickly spiraled into years of relentless harassment, break-ins, false police reports, and emotional devastation—while the system largely failed her. We’ll trace Dawn’s fight for safety, the long-delayed conviction of her stalker, and her journey from survivor to advocate, founding Hiding Hilda and pushing for stronger protections for victims. Plus, we’ll look at new research linking stalking and restraining orders to long-term health risks for women.

20 years later, still no justice. Between 2005 and 2009, the small town of Jennings, Louisiana, was rocked by the deaths of eight women—each with ties to one another through poverty, drugs, and sex work. Known as the “Jeff Davis 8,” or the “Jennings 8,” the cases remain unsolved and are clouded by corruption allegations, mishandled evidence, and suspicions that local law enforcement may have been involved. Was this the work of a serial killer, or a tangled web of crime and cover-up in a community already struggling with mistrust of police?
Join us as we sit down with author and investigative reporter Ethan Brown to discuss his groundbreaking work and his book Murder in the Bayou… and the families’ ongoing search for justice for Loretta Lewis, Ernestine Daniels Patterson, Kristen Gary Lopez, Whitnei Dubois, Laconia “Muggy” Brown, Crystal Benoit Zeno, Brittney Gary, and Necole Guillory.

In 1990, substitute teacher Paige Marie Renkoski, 30, vanished under chilling circumstances on Interstate 96 near Fowlerville, Michigan. What began as an ordinary day—dropping her mother at the airport and stopping at a store in Canton—ended in a mystery that remains unsolved over three decades later.
Witnesses last saw Paige appearing upset and speaking with two men beside a maroon minivan. Hours later, her 1986 Oldsmobile was found idling on the roadside with her purse and shoes inside—but no sign of Paige. The case suffered early missteps: police treated the scene as an abandoned vehicle rather than a potential crime scene, delaying vital investigation. Despite fingerprints, tips, searches—like ground-penetrating radar and FBI digs—no trace of Paige has ever been found. The case remains one of Michigan’s most puzzling cold cases, with authorities believing it may only be solved if someone steps forward, perhaps even decades from now.
Join us as we unravel the timeline, examine the evidence, explore the tragic theories, and sit with the hope—and heartbreak—that still lingers in the search for Paige.

We have 70 episodes and TWO YEARS under our belt y’all! That is cuckoo bananas. Thank you all so much for listening and spreading the word about our podcast AND these cases. We love you all so much!
On this episode, both Mallory and Megan bring you updates on past cases: The disappearance of baby Amiah Robertson in Indianapolis, the wrongful arrests and detainments of the Akeos in Mexico, the long-suspected and now confirmed Portland, Oregon Serial Killer, arrests in the cold case murder of Farmer Lowell Badger in Indiana, and a real-time update in the murder of Emily Pike in Arizona.
Again, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for everything. Here is to 657 more years of BB.
If you love us (how could you not lol) please consider giving us a five-star rating and review on whatever platform you use to listen, share us with a friend, and follow us on social media. You rock our socks… (hopefully we will actually have merch soon, so stay tuned!)
We’re thrilled to bring you a first in this episode: not one, but two special guests — neither of whom we know personally! We're honored to be joined by Robert Anglen and Lauren De Young from AZCentral, a newspaper with the USA Today network. Together, we’ll be discussing the unsolved murder of 14-year-old Emily Pike in Arizona.
Emily was an Indigenous teen who loved the color pink, her cat, and all things glitter. In January, she went missing after sneaking out of the group home where she was staying in Mesa. For nearly three weeks, her loved ones searched for her— until her body was tragically discovered, dismembered and left in garbage bags off Highway 60. Police are actively investigating, but many questions remain unanswered. By sharing Emily’s story, we can help bring attention to her case and, hopefully, find the justice and peace that she and her family deserve.

A Michigan couple, Paul and Christy Akeos, are currently detained in Mexico after being accused by a timeshare company, Palace Resorts, of fraud. The company alleges the couple breached their membership contracts by promoting their benefits on social media and encouraging others to exploit them. They also dispute over $100,000 in chargebacks. The Akeos' lawyer denies the fraud claims. The family says they have proof that Palace Resorts breached their contract, and that the chargebacks are legal.
You may remember Lindsey Hull from our guest episode on Larry Nassar. Beyond being a wonderful guest, she’s a close friend of Mallory’s and more like family. Christy and Paul are her mom and stepdad. This situation has been incredibly hard to navigate and now we need your help. PLEASE, if you feel inclined… research, share, tag and call upon lawmakers to bring momma Christy and Paul HOME #JusticeForAkeos
#UPDATE: The family’s lawyer confirms that the evidence the Akeo’s defense team submitted in their second hearing was not admitted, simply because it was not in Spanish. The judge has also granted Palace Resorts a six month extension to gather evidence, and denied house arrest to the Akeos… meaning they are stuck in the Mexican prison for at least another six months. We will continue to provide updates as we get them.

This week we're examining two Indiana cold cases that happened within a year of each other. In both cases a young woman was murdered and police seem to know who committed the crime but don't have enough evidence to go to court. However, one case received a ton of local media attention, while the other hasn't been mentioned since 1995. Get ready to park yourself at speculation station because we have A LOT TO SAY. Stick around for a mini update on Delphi and our uncensored thoughts on Casey Anthony's TikTok page.

It’s another Q & A episode! We noticed some new followers, so we wanted to host another episode where we answer all of your burning questions. Among them: If you were a kitchen utensil, what would you be? Who is burying the body and who is on lookout? What are your favorite podcasts? AND MORE! Listen along as Mallory and Megan spill their guts. And as for the last, unofficial question, please let us know where you stand. We love you! Thanks for listening.
We needed a bit of a palette cleanser, so Megan is bringing us back into the world of white-collar crime. However, today's case is TECHNICALLY legal, it doesn't make it any less shady. Shrinkflation is when a company makes changes to a product, reducing its value, while keeping the price the same or even increasing the price ever so slightly. This entirely legal practice is yet another way for companies to cut corners at the expense of consumers. BUT we're here to help you stay informed and know what to look for!
