WE ARE BACK!!! AFTER A YEAR LONG HIATUS, BOSTON CELTICS GAME DAY RECAP IS BACK AND SO ARE THE CELTICS!
The Celtics dropped their season opener 117-116 to the 76ers in a heartbreaking fashion. After building a 13 pt lead, Philly led by Tyrese Maxey and Rookie Sensation VJ Edgecombe, went on a tear and pulled off a gritty win in Boston. Losing to Philly always hurts but it hurts a bit more when Embiid is a shell of himself. He was truly horrible tonight but Maxey and Edgecombe combined for 74 points!!
There were a lot of positives to take from today as well as some negatives. From a positive standpoint, this team is going to be fun to watch. They pushed the pace, got out in transition, rebounded significantly better than I was expecting because of a gang rebounding mentality where they all crash and they still have a good offensive punch.
From a negative standpoint, losing an All NBA Defender like Jrue Holiday is going to be a problem against guard heavy lineups like this 76ers team. Their transition defense, although it improved the second half, was horrible in this game leading to 21 pts. Overall, it was a fun game to watch but there is still a lot to learn about this team!
