UNCENSORED XX - July 1, 2017 - Boom Bap Radio
WARNING EXPLICIT MATERIAL!!!! R.I.P. Prodigy We honor the memory of Hip Hop giant Prodigy, of Mobb Deep fame and give the brother a moderate send off, just hours after his official home going celebration. Because you know Agent Orange would not let us sing kumbaya into the night, we weighed in on the GOP’s latest manifestation of universal Healthcare and spoke for the soon to be 22 million people who will lose coverage with uncensored, unfiltered Hip Hop. Mobb Deep, Redman, Outsidaz, JAY-Z, Biggie, the Wu and Dr. Dre set an unapologetic tone just before Independence Day. You know that we know that Time Magazine is fugazy – right? Still ain’t no such thing as halfway crooks - It’s Boom Bap Radio.

A Goddess is Born - Boom Bap Radio - Apr. 16, 2017
It’s April and Spring has sprung. The flowers are blooming. The grass is growing and for our purposes, a Goddess has been born. A day before Jesus left his tomb and just days after the U.S. dropped the “mother of all bombs” on Afghanistan, our show was blessed with the first appearance of Divine Goddess on our airwaves. With so much birth you know the show had to be good, in fact it was “Da Bomb.” We chatted up the naval armada on its way to North Korea, paid tribute to Tupac’s enshrinement in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and debuted TLC’s new single. With the aid of G.U.R.U., De La Soul, Digable Planets, Tupac, Scarface, Common and the Biz we also and got a little jazz in our classic Hip Hop. Hey is that Jimmie “J.J.” Walker with Ann Coulter? It dyna-might, but it ain’t – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

An Olympic Feat - Boom Bap Radio - Aug. 13, 2016
The Olympics came to Rio de Janiero, Brazil and the female United States Olympians led the march towards a record appearance in the international games. Sure there was Simone Biles, Simone Manuel, the U.S. Women’s Basketball teams and Katie Ledecky, but all of that could not stop the flow of BS out the mouth of GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump who kept just making up stuff about his challenger - Hillary Clinton. Evidently the former First Lady helped to form ISIS – who knew? Undaunted by another fictitious rant from The Donald, the Masta Talka and the Angry Engineer began spreading more Olympic level entertainment through Hip Hop. Queen Latifah, Foxy Brown, Missy and L Boogie all hooked up with Doitall, A Tribe Called Quest, Grand Puba and more in this gold medal presentation. Oh look in the sky. It’s a bird, it’s a plane. Nope, it’s some a-hole climbing up Trump Tower for attention. Oh, Donald, a whole Black church congregation may be backing you in North Carolina, but we’re still with her - smh – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

UNCENSORED XVII - Boom Bap Radio - July 9, 2016
WARNING!! EXPLICIT CONTENT!!! - Just a week after celebrating its 240th anniversary, America got its collective groove on and did what it do. Cops were shooting unarmed Black men AGAIN. Cops shot a Black man who was selling CD’s, cops shot a Black man licensed to carry a gun during traffic a stop and a deranged Black sniper preyed on police during a peaceful protest rally with his legally purchased arsenal. However real fireworks display was brought in later when the Dallas Police used a robot to blow up the shooting suspect for the first time in history – it was soooooo Yankee Doodle Dandy. In the end, everything was all Obama and Black Lives Matter’s fault; Trump praised dead tyrant Saddam Hussein for his prowess in killing terrorists and we’re still waiting for the NRA to hollaback. After the dust settled, Masta Talka and the Angry Engineer got all uncensored on this ‘itch and invited the likes of Redman, Biggie, Snoop, The Game, Nas and the Wu to set the record straight through one of America’s most recent inventions – Hip Hop. Yo, former Congressman Joe Walsh, who exactly lives in “Real America?” Did slave labor build that shit too? – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

End of a Purple Reign - Boom Bap Radio - Apr. 30, 2016
Another week and another memorial show. This week we honor his purple royal funkiness – Prince, who passed away unexpectedly and in doing so left a void even in an artform in which he was not to prolific. We explore Prince’s dalliances with Hip Hop and bid adieu to another legend. The Masta Talka, C.O. and Angry Engineer also chatted up the Presidential primary season and the ongoing rise of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, as well as the pathos that were former GOP candidates Ted Cruz and John Kasich. We also chatted about President Obama’s last correspondence dinner, Lil’ Kim’s odd social media post and visit Beyonce’s Lemonade stand. Of course Chaka Khan, Big Daddy Kane, Syn Saavy, EPMD and the Junior M.A.F.I.A. got some burn. Yo! Is that a fetus in your purse or are you just happy to see me? – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

UNCENSORED XVI - Boom Bap Radio - Apr. 16, 2016
Warning!!! Explicit Material! 18-years-old or Older!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taped just days after Niggas With Attitudes (N.W.A.) are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the C.O. left us alone and allowed the Angry Engineer and Masta Talka to work blue. Dirty and stinkin’ like an old shoe the dynamic duo honored Dre, Cube, Ren, Yella, while previewing the upcoming New York Presidential Primaries and much more. We wondered why Puffy was distress Biggie’s seed, talked about Afrikka Bam’s troubles and premiered Grand Puba’s new joint. Onyx, Big Pun, Jadakiss, Phife, and KRS-ONE headlined this uncensored joint. No Hillary, we weren’t on “C.P. Time” – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

A Death in the Family - R.I.P. Phife - Boom Bap Radio - Mar. 26, 2016
This week’s show is a memoriam to one of the dopest MC’s of all time – Phife Dawg or A Tribe Called Quest fame. Phife’s amenable style and unrelenting metaphors told a story from one of the art form’s most unique points of view. The 5-foot freak, told it like it was and made you understand that Hip Hop is a culture and rhyming is an artform, not only a bi-product of packing a gat or running a criminal enterprise. A part of the transformative Native Tongue crew - A Tribe Called Quest, Phife succumbed to complications tied to diabetes and passed away at 45-years-old. We play the whole discography from People’s Instinctive Travels to the Love Movement and stop to note Phife’s greatness along the way. So microphone check – 1,2 – who is this? This is all about Malik and how he changed Hip Hop on his own terms. He was on point. All the time – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

#OscarsSoWhite - Boom Bap Radio - February 27, 2016
With the likes of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith leading the boycott of the 88th Oscars, the Boom Bap Radio crew prepped a show wrought with lofty thoughts of racial inclusion, justice and a Chris Rock monologue. Taped just hours before the Academy was set to handout its top award to a thespian who was so white and hours after Hillary Clinton primary win in South Carolina, Masta Talka, the C.O. and Angry Engineer and Masta Talka were ready to tally votes for Democratic front-runner and looked forward to the GOP primaries. But what’s a celebration without a little music? The crew first shouted out that delusional Tom, Dr. Ben Carson and his attempt to lure the Hip Hop community into the Bubble. The BBR trio then wished good health to DMX, estimated how much 50 Cent and Kanye West were actually worth and mourned with the likes of Sunz of Man, EW&F, Public Enemy and Poor Righteous Teachers. What’s wrong baby, is you hangry? – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

White Out! - Boom Bap Radio - Jan. 30, 2016
A week after surviving a historic blizzard, the Boom Bap Radio trio of The C.O., Angry Engineer and Masta Talka chat up the week’s events, which seemed to have a decidedly white tinge to them. Donald Trump brought on Sarah Palin for support, while dissing Megyn Kelley, Martin Shkreli began talking slick to Ghostface and the Wu and a white guy is slated to play Michael Jackson in an upcoming movie. Sounds like a white-alicious week to me. But despite near whiteout conditions, Hip Hop, sweet, sweet Hip Hop, rallied to save the day. The Donald lost in Iowa and a teacher in Arizona was exonerated and was correct, her students were calling her the N-word. But the music was so, so funky. We revisited Rampage’s boomin’ new hit “Pound Cake,” honored LL on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; and played funky tracks from Whodini, Big Daddy Kane, ODB, the Wu, the Gza, NaS and Papoose, to name a few. Yo Damon, come get you cousin – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

State of the Union - Boom Bap Radio - Jan. 16, 2016
Recorded just days after U.S. President Barack Obama gave his final State of the Union, the Boom Bap Radio trio of The C.O., Masta Talka and the eternally Angry Engineer asked the burning question when it came to the web’s favor Hip Hop podcast: “What’s Good?” Opening 2016 with a bang, the BBR crew gave a shout-out to The Culture with the help of Rampage and his boomin’ new hit “Pound Cake.” We even brought in the new year with more new cuts like” Creature” from Warhol’s Wig and Kool A.D. and returning banger “Touch” from our man O.E. Of course we laughed at The Donald and the GOP, mused at all of those who threw their loot away in pursuit of the $1.5 Billion Power Ball jackpot and saluted Run-DMC’s groundbreaking reception of a Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award. But this is still n Ol’ School based Hip Hop show, no Trap music, no dabbin and no Dae Dae-ing over here. Eric B and Rakim, LL Cool J, L.O.N.S.; NaS, Artifacts ruled the day. Uncensored XV - Naughty Xmas 2015
Warning: Explict Content – The Boom Bap Radio duo of Masta Talka and the eternally Angry Engineer close out 2015 in frank fashion with a funky Christmas show laced with plenty of..um, Xmas cheer and of course classic Hip Hop. We lament the terrorist attacks in San Bernadino, Ca., pool our cash to get DMX out of more legal trouble and try to figure out how typing “lardass” into an iPhone auto corrects to Mrs. Kanye West. Talk about your Christmas bulbs…Hey, ‘tis the season. We of course burn the yule log with Run-DMC, the Treacherous Three, Trez Lorenz, Alicia Keys and Eazy E. So put the kiddies to bed and pour yourself a healthy helping of egg nog – It’s Boom Bap Radio’s holiday hoe down and it’s so, so nasty.

Faux Black Blues - Boom Bap Radio - Oct. 11, 2015
With just a year left in the political "Silly Season" that will bring us El Presidente nombre 45, the crazy jumped out with a vengeance as Republicans fought each other over the interrogation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the attacks in Benghazi and who will face the former First Lady in the 2016 Presidential Election. Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump duked it out for pole position and Rupert Murdoch told us Dr. Ben is evidently the new Black. Boy, some people will say about anything. With such mayhem, only the jazziest of all Hip Hop could help. A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Diamond D, Showbiz & A.G.; De La Soul and Buckshot LeFonque provided the backbeat for a two man show with only the Angry Engineer and Masta Talka - AGAIN. So put on your unitard and do the Slut Walk – Kanye’s running in 2020. It's Boom Bap Radio.

The Back To School/Labor Day Jam - Boom Bap Radio - Sept. 5, 2015
On Labor Day weekend 2015, the last two men standing, the Angry Engineer and Masta Talka, chopped it up, held it down for Hip Hop and bid adieu to the kiddies returning to their studies. We call it multi-tasking. However, the dynamic duo couldn’t ignore the news of the week. We had contemptuous and insubordinate township clerks, The Donald doing what he do, Hillary’s ongoing email scandal, and kids grabbing drive thru order takers through the window. But because we give a home to the stupid we had Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her dead-headed questions, The VMA’s and Straight Outta Compton topping the box office for an entire month - take that Eric and Osman! But musically it was all good, Leaders of the New School, K-Solo; Showbiz & A.G., Digital Underground, Public Enemy and many more kept us cool at Summer's end. State of Ferguson, Mo. - Boom Bap Radio - Aug. 15, 2015
You know things are all kind of messed up in the world when the one year anniversary of shooting death elicits events from those celebrating the life of the victim and that of the gunman. Be it “RIP Michael Brown” or “Happy Darren Wilson Day” today’s racial divide seems to be right in the American heartland and if you know us, we’ve never met a divide we couldn’t exploit. The BBR crew of The C.O., Angry Engineer and Masta Talka were a divisive as ever and giggled like children at the chasm of racial despair. Fresh-off an Ol’ School concert in Da Brick City, all hands were on deck to work the black seam. Africa Bam and the Soulsonic Force, Joeski Love, T. La Rock, Melle Mel, Slick Rick, Snoop, Dre. Ice Cube and Run-D.M.C. all pitched in for comedy gold and the best Hip Hop on the web. What? I really can’t have one of your tasty burgers? Seriously? UNCENSORED XIV – R.I.P. Fatal – Boom Bap Radio - July 18, 2015
CAUTION – EXPLICT MATERIAL! - A somber trio of J-Crush, Angry Engineer and The Masta Talka joined together in this episode to salute local MC and legendary member of the Outlawz – Hussein Fatal. Fatal, one of Crush’s closest friends since childhood, grew from shouting out “Nasty New Street” on his block to international fame as one of the Lil’ Homies who partnered with Hip Hop icon Tupac Shakur towards the end of his life. Tragically Fatal was killed in a car crash just outside his home in Georgia while a passenger in a ill-fated vehicle. We remember the good times and celebrate a brilliant mind. Of course we are aided by Tupac, The Outlawz, Redman, The Artifacts, Slick Rick, Mic Geronimo, DMX, Jah Rule and Cormega on this trip down memory lane. Celebrating a Thug Life – It’s Boom Bap Radio.

Happy 4th of July! - Boom Bap Radio - July 4, 2015
On this glorious day we celebrated American independence, but also had to chat about all of the flap that has arisen around flying the Confederate flag. Some in South Carolina wondered should they take it down, if they had enough votes to get it down or were Black folks just being too darn sensitive. You know it’s not every day you get to see a symbol of terrorism flying above a state capital. Then along came a hero. Bree Newsome, had enough of the in-fighting, so she ripped that flag from its pole and threw it on the ground! How American! The BBR core of The C.O., Masta Talka, and Angry Engineer lit fireworks in celebration of the might Bree and giggled at all of the Donald’s lost sponsorship, P. Poppa Diddy Pop’s clumsy azz and that Ignant Black Tea Partier, who just needs some friends. Of course Kurtis Blow, Nice & Smooth, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Raekwon the Chef, Redman, the Four Owls and our man E.X. and so many others joined in to munch on some bar-b-que and eat potato salad. Pssst, to our little Tea Party Tomette – slavery wasn’t a choice. SMH. Happy 4th of July - It’s Boom Bap Radio!

The Massacre - Boom Bap Radio - Jun. 20, 2015
When killer prisoners from New York freely roam the countryside and a blonde haired, blue eyed woman ends her masquerade as a Black woman, only a racist, psycho could end the week with a bang. The nation turned its lonely eyes to Charleston, S.C. where a racist shot up a church in post-racial America and only prayers and Hip Hop could get us all through the tragedy. We called upon EPMD, Chubb Rock, Das EFX, Lauryn Hill, Diamond D, Queen Latifah, Heavy D & the Boyz, A Tribe Called Quest and so many more to put this massacre in proper perspective. Ch-Ch-Ch Changes - Boom Bap Radio - April 25, 2015
So when the greatest American hero from the 70’s tells the world that he is going in for gender re-assignment surgery, it’s obvious that change is afoot, but for us at Boom Bap Radio – what was old, was really new again. We welcomed the return of the wayward J-Crush, our resident MC and, like everyone else in the country, watched Mr. Wheaties Bruce Jenner chop it up with Diane Sawyer shortly before he officially morphs into “She.” I think I should have been more disturbed, but I actually just felt sad for dude, three marriages, a bunch of kids and a few gold medals can’t hide who you are inside. For us Hip Hop is who we are, so we served a veritable breakfast of champions. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five; Kool Moe Dee, Grand Puba, Run-DMC, Mobb Deep and all of the usual suspects laid down their classic funk and we took in new joints from De La Soul featuring NaS and Ghostface with Kool G. Rap, AZ and Tre Williams. So what do you get when you mistakenly shoot an unarmed man to death? A vacation in the Bahamas, of course - smh. Yo, was that a coyote or a bison? It’s Boom Bap Radio!

Cruzin' 4 A Brusin' - UNCENSORED XIII - Boom Bap Radio - March 28, 2015
What happens when a mad man tries to enter the White House? I’m guessing you’d better get a little gangsta. Such was the case for the BBR Crew for its 13th Uncensored episode. Cousin Ricko came to visit the Angry Engineer, C.O. and Masta Talka and things got explicit. Still Crush-less, but now fully loaded, the crew prepared for the 2016 Presidential run in the wake of Sen. Ted Cruz’s announcement that he was running for the nation’s highest office. Deranged, Canadian and a little scary, Cruz dominated headlines this week and even got himself some Obamacare to boot. However, his efforts were ineffective against Old School Hip Hop. Going all bi-coastal, the 20-year anniversary of Eazy-E’s passing was commemorated with some N.W.A., Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Snoop. We then brought it back to Jerz with Redman, the Outsidaz and Trends of Culture before adding a sprinkling of Eminem and Ludacris. Our Bill Cosby sex tracker was expanded to Chelsea Handler; we pondered why a racist kid needed all available Oklahomians of African descent to be his backdrop for an apology and why Iggy Azelea’s booty grew 5-sizes in a few months – overall, a pretty solid performance. Hey, Hal could you open the cockpit door? It’s Boom Bap Radio.

Happy Women's History Month - Boom Bap Radio - Mar. 14, 2015
Days into International Women’s History Month, the Boom Bap Radio crew finally decided to get to work by honoring the many female MC’s who have made Hip Hop a better place. Aaah the good ‘ol days when there were female rappers throughout the Hip Hop landscape and there was no Iggy Azalea to be found. The C.O., the Angry Engineer and Masta Talka traveled on a musical journey that included the likes of Lauryn Hill, Dimples D; Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott and so many more dope MC’s in this celebration of female lyricists. In this blissful, post-racial world, we didn’t worry about bigoted fraternities in Oklahoma, letters to Iran from Conservatives, the killing of more unarmed minorities by police in Los Angeles and Wisconsin, or the celebratory 50th Anniversary of the march in Selma, Alabama. Nope. Well at least we’ll never have to worry about there being a nigger SAE. Good thing those kooky kids aren’t racist. I’m told they have really good hearts. Yo! Is dude pooping on my car? Oh crap.
