The girlies have once again put all their chips on a murder suspect who was completely innocent. While Chrissy was never fully convinced of Billy's murdering ways, Candice is still not convinced Billy ISN’T the true big bad of this mystery.
Unanswered questions
Why did Billy’s Mom abandon him with a known pedo/killer?
Why did Billy not look at his tool kit when Jet was investigating?
Did Jet overlook Luke’s serial killer tendencies?
Does Sophia ever face consequences?
Does Mr. Finney hate Billy because he doesn’t like to murder?
Despite these questions we rated this book a 4.9 This is a fun & fast-pace thriller while being a little more grounded in reality than other thrillers we’ve read
For our first venture into Holly Jackson, we loved the ride! Thank you FSmith for this recommendation.

In part 2 of 3, the sisters are in the thick of solving Jet's murder & all eyes are on Billy.
The girlies wonder how Jet is able to use a pick-axe without triggering her aneurysm, is Jet worse than her mom? And surely the murderer can’t be Luke because he is throwing off all red flags

Join the Bookalicious Girlies as they dive into critically acclaimed Holly Jackson’s newest novel, Not Quite Dead Yet. This book comes as a reader recommendation, by number one listener of the pod FSmith
Who do you think attacked Jet? The murder suspects are numerous, but Candice thinks the only plausible candidate is friendzoned-Billy. Chrissy is unsure who she thinks attacked Jet, but she is very confident in her disdain for our immature protagonist.
This will be a 3 part bonanza as the sisters celebrate their newest favorite holiday - Hollyween

Candice and Chrissy wrap up the octopus book and realize they have been misjudging this book for an entire year! Some things discussed-
- Why didn't Cameron look for his mom? Or write off Tova as "too weird to be related to me"??
- Is taking care of others a burden?
- Why is Cameron a man-child?
- Do we wish more questions were answered?
- How is Avery okay with Cameron and his antics? Is she a robot?

The ladies dive into Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt! This book came highly recommended by friend of the pod, Meg!
We channel our own remarkably bright selves and explore some ~unexpected~ topics:
- An author recap that turns into an octopus recap
- Judging a book by its cover (but actually we've been judging it for a year and still have the same verdict)
- Our first foray into granny fiction?
- Is Tova a curmudgeon or sympathetic?
- Can every book be a murder mystery book?
- Of course it can. How is Marcellus going to solve the mystery?

The sisters make history in their first movie recap - Netflix Thursday Murder Club.
While the movie has glimmers of good scenes, Candice calls it a flop & demands a miniseries. Chrissy said she enjoyed it, but later reveals she was bored & Mom fell asleep.
Timeline wise, this is the last episode recorded before baby Franklet arrives. You wont get an update until November!
Join us next week for another granny-fiction read, Remarkably Bright Creatures
In this final episode of Thursday Murder Club the sisters bring on a very special segment - UK correspondent FSmith! The sisters learn stones are used for measurement, grassed is not a common phrase, and all you need to not be liked is to be named Shirley!
Join us next time for our discussion on Thursday Murder Club the Netflix Movie!
Join the sisters as in part 2 of Richard Osmans best selling whodunnit Thursday Murder Club. The girlies break down Ian's unfortunate demise play-by-play, with Ibrahim rising the ranks as one of the #1 suspects.
The sisters put on their detective hats once again to solve the burning questions of our time:
Thanks for joining the club! This will be a 3-part series with a movie recap at the end (unless Chrissy's baby comes 2 weeks early!!!!)
In this very special episode, the Bookalicious sisters made friends with fellow podcaster extraordinaire, So Approachable hosts Jamie & Sarah.
The FOUR FRIENDS meet up for a video recording where they discuss all things Jeneva Rose The Perfect Marriage & The Perfect Divorce. Due to Jamie's ability to edit videos this episode is video!
Let us know if you like the video format & we may consider doing it.....regrettably neither one of us like to brush our hair or be presentable
"You're a serial killer, Ada!"
In the biggest twist yet, Queen Freida ends the Housemaid series with the most normal book yet. No rocket ships, no Millie murders, and no razzle dazzle. We talk lots about things that didn't work for us in this book (why did we know nothing about the important characters??), some things we wished happened instead (Janice should have "definitely* kidnapped Spencer), and things we still loved about the final Millie adventure (Murder Millie 4ever).
Join us next week as we start Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt; recommended by friend of the pod, Meg!
In a bittersweet moment, the sisters start the last (??) book in the Housemaid Millie Saga!! About 95% of the pod references our Killy Milly theory. If you want to brush up on that theory (or are new to the pod), check out the beginning of The Housemaid Wedding to catch up!
As Killy Milly leaves her original host and descends on (Nico? Janice? Martha? Someone else?!), Millie grows more normal and the rest of the world turns more kooky. Some topics discussed include:
- Did Nico inherit the murderous spirit of Millie?
- Did Janice kidnap Spencer?
- How does Millie think Enzo has never killed anyone when we all know he runs the NY mafia??
- When would you tell your kids you're a serial killer?
And MORE!
Share your theories with us! Follow us on the socials and email us at bookalicious.pod@gmail.com
Thanks for joining our club!
The ladies are BACK to Queen Freida! We're starting with book 2.5 (or 3.5, depending on when you read it), before we cover The Housemaid's Secret next week. It's a short story but we still have lots to say about it! Covered in this episode:
Recap of our Killy Milly theory that explains the entire series (and possibly The Perfect Divorce, too. *NOTE- some spoilers to The Perfect Divorce happen in this recap so tread carefully...)
Judge a book by its cover, featuring a comparison of Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us vs original Housemaid Wedding
The origin story of Killy Milly that we get from the book, *and* our own origin story that explains a lot more
Is Millie an alien trying to complete the human ritual of marriage?
This book was not quite as twisty as the other housemaids, but it does bring up the biggest mystery of all: How does Millie's brain work? We explore this and more in today's episode!
We'd love to hear what you thought about this book! Write a comment on Spotify or send us an email at bookalicious.pod@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you!
Before getting into the tragic story of Harry Potter, the sisters dig into the tragic life of Candice's math-quiz interview. After judging poor interviewing techniques, the girlies judge JK Rowlings Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone cover - of which they give high praise.
After 30 or so minutes the sisters finally 'get into it' as they pick up with Harry & the gang completing midterms, helping their grown friend Hagrid get out of a dragon-y pickle, & laugh about Quierrel's new life of having an evil mastermind living on the back of his head! The sisters wonder if the spirit of Killi Milli was the start of voldy, is Dumbledore the big bad, & is it reasonable that Snape has so much hate for Harry Pot-t-t-t-er
Thanks for laughing along with us! Up next, we revisit Killi-Milli with the Housemaid Wedding & Housemaid is Watching
Candice and Chrissy return to the childhood classics with the first Harry Potter book by J. K. Rowling! We know there's not a lot of content out there for HP so we did our due diligence in leaving no (sorcerer's) stone unturned. Some of the questions discussed include...
Who's worse, Dudley or Malfoy?
How did Dumbledore drop Harry off to his evil relatives and have no follow-up??
Would Harry have wanted to join Slytherin if his other option was Hufflepuff?
All this sponsored by the Remembrall: Have you ever wanted to hold your anxiety? Now you can!
Some goodies mentioned in this episode:
Candice and Chrissy finish The Perfect Divorce by Jeneva Rose! We talk all things Killy Milly Morgan, including:
- Do we love that she is pure demon, or is it too much?
- Will Alejandro be her next victim, or are they going to go into the murder business together Millie-Enzo style (a la Housemaid)?
- Where did all of Bob's brain cells go, and why was his plan Dance Dance Revolution style when Sarah was full on evil-genius mode?
- How did Sarah have time to clomp around in the abandoned farmhouse and when will she become a real professional and have her own murder pad?
- Plus, our predictions on what will happen in book three and when Sarah will get her comeuppance.
All this and MORE on this week's episode!
Let us know what you think- do you love Sarah? Hate her? Who will finally expose her evil ways- Pam, Anne, Summer, or someone else (or no one!)?? Send us an email at bookalicious.pod@gmail.com , or comment on this episode!
In an effort to build their 3 month stock-pile, the Bookalicious girlies speed-recap Jeneva Rose's The Perfect Divorce.
More plot holes from book one are covered up by Sheriff Hudson who asks questions 11 years too late. The sisters postulate new theories with their favorite centering around the very forgettable assistant-turned-manager Anne & her suspiciously absent gender neutral spouse Jamie.
Sarah continues to become more psychotic as she gaslights Bob & the girlies have to wonder if the spirit of Killie Millie lives on in a new host.
The Bookalicious Sisters roll right in to Jeneva Rose's latest thriller, The Perfect Divorce.
We pick up with Bob & Sarah one year into their marriage in a meeting with their divorce lawyers! Knowing this book is about the worst people, we have several bads and possibly 1 (or 2??) BIG BAD resulting in the pages turning slower than The Perfect Marriage.
The sisters outline the main players in this mystery, with a surprise twist that Sheriff Hudson gained a few brain cells compared to his Book 1 version.
Candice and Chrissy wrap up The Perfect Marriage- Chrissy is distressed at the injustice and Candice loves the kookiness of the story. We ask all of our questions like: Is this the ending we wanted? How did no one question all the conflicts of interests in this case? Why is everyone in this town evil? And, was Sarah possessed by the spirit of Killie Millie and will there be a Housemaid/Marriage crossover book?!
Let us know your thoughts on this wild ride by emailing us at bookalicious.pod@gmail.com !
In a stunning turn, Chrissy's seemingly off-the-wall #1 suspect (Sarah's mystery mister) makes an appearance in a strange ghostly sexcapade while Candice is distraught as her well-thought out theory of Matthew as the killer starts to unravel.
Sarah makes moves to investigate Kelly's creepy stalker, while Adam employees a rando from the street claiming to be a reporter as a PI (private investigator). While this could have been a strategic move, Adam proves to be "that person" in your worst group project nightmare as he drunk dials all possible leads & orders a $10,000 mattress
