What if quantum physics isn’t just some strange phenomenon locked away in the subatomic world—what if it’s shaping our reality? What if the very technology we use today relies on quantum effects... and those same effects are happening inside your body?
In this milestone 50th episode, we sit down with Professor Warwick Bowen, one of the world’s leading researchers in quantum physics and precision sensing. Based at the University of Queensland, Professor Bowen leads groundbreaking work that sits at the intersection of quantum mechanics, biology, and emerging technologies. His research is redefining how we understand life, consciousness, and the future of biotechnology.
We explore big questions like:
– Is quantum biology the missing piece in our understanding of life?
– Can quantum mechanics explain processes in the human brain?
– How is quantum sensing being used in medicine and biotech right now?
– What breakthroughs are just around the corner—and how might they change our world?
Whether you’re a science nerd or just curious about the future of health, tech, and consciousness, this is one episode you don’t want to miss.
Join us now and step into the world where biology meets the quantum realm.

Episode #37: The DIY CRISPR Revolution: Is Gene Editing for Everyone? - Jo Zayner
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking then? Why hasn't anyone DIY extracted their own stem cells by taking a little fat from their body? It sounds like so much fun. Maybe you weren't thinking that? But I hope you were. This is the way most of my projects start. Finding something interesting that can be done if people just put in a little time and effort to figure out how to do it." ~ Jo Zayner
Jo Zayner is a prominent biohacker, artist and entrepreneur who has made significant contributions to the field of do-it-yourself (DIY) biology.
Jo is best known for the work done in gene editing, and democratizing access to biotechnology. With a history of programming, a BA in plant biology and a Ph.D in biophysics from the University of Chicago, Jo also earned a Masters in Science, specializing in cell and molecular biology, prior to receiving a Ph.D. Jo was also previously involved with NASA’s biology research centre, where they helped design potential Martian colony habitat designs.
Zayner is now the founder and CEO of The ODIN, a company that produces affordable kits for DIY genetic engineering. Jo has also been involved in a number of high-profile biohacking projects, including the creation of fluorescent beer and the insertion of a CRISPR-edited gene into their own body to enhance muscle growth. Zayner is a popular speaker and advocate for DIY biology, and has been featured in numerous media outlets including The New York Times, Wired, and Forbes. Jo's work has challenged traditional notions of who can participate in biotechnology and helped to pave the way for a more open and inclusive future in the field.
