Stop Asking Me To Boycott
Boycotts have devolved into "The voice of the lazy." It makes us feel good, maybe, but most of these have no clear targets, goals, or hope of delivering a future in which Black people have control of our lives.

The Myth of Malcolm X
Tom Brady or Bill Belichick? We can ask the same about Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X was undeniably brilliant but without a platform to stand on, maybe we never hear his name.

Was Charlie Kirk Actually A Christian?
Charlie Kirk, whom I'd never heard of before last week, was apparently Jesus Christ come again. But yeah, he was indeed a racist and I'm allowed to be apathetic.

Why Y'all So Sensitive?
We're far too sensitive about our history, and that's really not helping us. History should be approached critically, allowing us to grow and develop beyond our elders.

Pan Africanism Is A Fairy Tale
We love to talk about Pan Africanism but it's mostly myth. It sounds good, but it's largely a one way street. If we really believed in it, we'd practice it where it made the most sense.

Essence Fest and the Failure of Black Leadership
Essence Festival was criticized this year a great deal. Attendance has been trending down for a while, the economy is in the tank, DEI is dead, and now there's yet another impediment: the Target Boycott. It's complicated.

No, The Pope Is NOT Black
We have a new Pope. Some are rushing to ask about his blackness, but I think a better question might be where he stands on the church's role on the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

Black People Are The Real X-Men
X-Men movies all have the same plot: the humans hate mutants and wish to wipe them out, the mutants have the power to crush the humans...but Professor X is determined to get the humans to love and accept the mutants. The Professor is nuts, not Magneto.

Civil Rights Marches Need To Go Away
Civil rights marches are dead. Seriously, don't do that no more. At one point marches were considered bold, cutting edge, and absolutely dangerous. That appeals to young people. They aren't any of those things now, so no, young people don't care.

Dane Calloway Must Be Stopped
Were Africans here before Columbus? Possibly, but some of the ahistorical, crazy BS just needs to stop. It's a distraction and just plain dangerous.

Negro Fireside Chat 3/22/25
Caleb Wilson, 20, of Kenner, La., was a junior at Southern University majoring in mechanical engineering and a proud member of the Human Jukebox, the school’s marching band. He's now dead, allegedly a result of fraternity hazing. Let's talk about that Greek life...

White People Have Officially Won
DEI and Target fasts: that's where we are in 2025. It all signals that white people have officially won, and Black folks have completely waved the white flag on the idea of self determination.    #DEI #Boycotttarget #jamalbryant #civilrightsmovement #trump #inclusion #blackhistory

You Can't Win A War With Nonviolence
Nonviolent passive resistance characterized much of the movement but such a tactic-- or way of life --has serious limitations and present consequences. The Civil Rights Movement ultimately failed to reach its full potential due to the blind commitment many held for it.   #civilrights #civilrightsmovement #mlk #ados #blackhistory #americanhistory #education #blackhomeschoolers

When Older Leaders Won't Step Aside
Dr. King was once a young leader who made the old guard uncomfortable. Over a decade later, it was King who was being challenged by a new generation of leaders. To his credit, he didn't try to categorically stop them but he also failed to fully appreciate that, just as he felt he was right in ruffling feathers in his day, young leaders like Stokely Carmichael were doing the same in the mid-sixties.    #mlk #civilrights #civilrightsmovement #stokelycarmichael #sncc #blackhistory #blackhomeschoolers

When Black Politics Met White Power
The Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, led by Fannie Lou Hamer, Ella Baker, Bob Moses and many others, was a radical experiment to reform democracy. But white power beat back their efforts at reform and ultimately, the movement was absorbed by the system.    #mississippi #mfdp #civilrights #civilrightsmovement #ellabaker #fannielouhamer #bobmoses #sncc #core #freedomsummer

How Bad Did White Folks Hate Us? Bad!
White folks were told to integrate their schools but rather than do that, they opted to simply close schools. That meant many white children went without an education altogether but that was preferable to sitting next to Black children. Perhaps civil rights leaders should have taken the hint and opted for another strategy.    #brownvsboard #integration #civilrights #civilrightsmovement #virginia #arkansas #naacp #blackhomeschoolers #education #littlerock #segregation #roywilkins #dwighteisenhower
